If you’d like a more robust video with all the tests I made on the way to the two I posted here.. just say so. Lots of nerdy detail… but the reality is on full display here in less than 1:30!!!

Wait, you sent out a reamped Bass signal through those different cable lengths from your DAW and then back in? While I'm with you on that, that's not the issue with long cable lengths. The issue is the increasing capacitance that occurs with long cables from a passive pickup, sending its weak signal unbuffered to it's first preamp stage, whether that be a pedal, a DI input, or amplifier input. It usually creates some high frequency rolloff or signal loss. The experiment you conducted (if I understand what you did correctly) sending out a line level signal from your DAW to the reamp box will easily drive any cable length. I enjoy and support what you're doing on your channel though!

Thanks for the comment. Yes. Thats what I did. This week’s testing has obviously got to be trying to debunk this and see where/if I somehow missed something or otherwise screwed up!
As I understand it, the reamp converts the line level signal back to instrument level so the amp believes it is connected to the guitar… so if it’s a “unbuffered guitar signal” when it hits the cable… there should be no difference and since it hit no buffers along the way, it “should” be exactly like going directly from the guitar to daw/amp. I did several tests not shown here including hitting an amp and micing it up to avoid any possible boost the di might be adding and the difference in tone was similarly underwhelming (in that it was slight)!!!
I’m excited to figure this out. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Shots fired!
As I understand it, it's just electrons shooting in the cable and forcing them out the other end, kinda like putting more and more play-doh into the spaghetti factory. So I'm not really surprised. I can hear the skeptics now, though. "Were those TRUE BYPASS pedals? Because if they weren't, bla bla bla" and also etc and so forth. I'd love to see the details, I am a nerd.
"Doing it wrong" but making it work is always cool.
