This is such a helpful video for those travelling with neurodivergent children - means I can show my child just what to expect before we go :)

You need to link this direct from your e-ticket confirmation, your website FAQs on getting tickets and checking in, etc. I've spent two hours just figuring out where to go and what to do to be sure that I can pick up my (already booked, purchased, and confirmed online) ticket and check my car in on time. There's a reference to "allowing extra time" to "pick up your ticket" from "Check-in Desk No 1" -- but no map, description, or any other reference to where that is. If this video is accurate, turns out that just means: follow the signs to Irish Ferries, then use Lane 1 to pull up to Check-in BOOTH No 1. Those of us connecting from international flights with a car pickup from LHR plus drive across Kent to Dover, in order to meet an (unclear) check-in window aren't "neurodivergent" --- we are just trying to make sense of fragmented, incomplete, and unclear instructions scattered across multiple web pages and emails. It really does not need to be this piecemeal. By connecting the dots from three different pages, I find that for an 11:05 to Calais, I CANNOT check in more than two hours early, but I MUST check in at least one hour prior, AND allow "extra time" (how much?) to "pick up the ticket based on my confirmation email." So, on a Thursday morning in May, how long should I allow to actually enter the Port and arrive at Irish Ferries Check-in Booth 1 ?

😑Foot passengers are treated disgracefully; required to walk for an hour from Cherbourg station to ferryport with luggage, no buses, no taxis, no shuttle. I met an American who was coming into France pushing his luggage in a discarded shopping trolley! No gangplanks to shore for foot passengers on French crossings to disembark; we had to wait for almost an hour until all the cars had driven off before we were allowed disembark via car deck. No buses at Dublin Ferryport either, fortunately a couple of taxis thought to come along in a while.

Is it true that in order to squeeze more money from the public that Irish ferries decided to remove crew accommodation? Meaning crew would have to hot bunk? If true that is disgraceful, it’s a merchant ship, not a warship.

@@MrJaguar747 Seriously, look at what's involved. We have an engineering base in Ireland and sometimes we have to go there. Because we would have to take quipment not suitable for transport on aircraft we use the ferry.
This involves, a drive from the South of England to holyhead about 7 hours. You need to get there with at least an hour to spare and it's a 3+ hour crossing and theres disembarking add half an hour for that. When you add it all up it's about 24 hours (return trip) and about £900.
If the weather is bad and the ferry is full it's like a scene from the travel of the pilgrim fathers. People sick stretched out on the floor everywhere.
Here's the way we do it now. Get a company lift to either Gatwick or Heathrow, hop on a flight and your in Ireland 1 hour later, get a company pick up, have your equipment sent be courier in advance. All done in about 3 and a half hours at half the cost. With no pikies puking or smell of sick anywhere!
