Nice to see a legit outdoor unit. All the indoor ones with doghouses look kind of hack lol.
Welcome to CA there everywhere
Bro I've been doing a/c & refrigeration for 20 years. You are definitely a super tech. We all have ways of doing things in the field, but for you to show the new people and explain why, definitely makes you one of the best out there. Love to meet you because their are times I run into things I struggle with, and having someone like yourself to call , would definitely make the job easier. I do hot and cold sides in this industry, but still get stumped on stupid things, almost like I'm overthinking the issue. Your videos are amazing. It should be mandatory for the new guys to watch your videos.
Thank you Jessie
concordo com amigo.
😳
CZcams Police! Officer Super Tech here! ;-) A tip a roofer friend of mine gave me, always use the rungs, never the rails when you climb a ladder, that way if the ladder kicks out from under you, you won't crush your fingers. And yes, you'll still smash your face in and bust your ribs, but at least you'll be able to take a piss without help. Thanks for all the great videos this year! Happy New Year!
Great advice
I really like that vacuum pump, changing the oil while it's running is pretty cool. Good video!
I recognized that amprobe case my father had one and still does it’s retired but that was an iconic case from the 90’s! Great video!,
Nor Cal, from one licensed HVAC/R skilled tradesman to another, this video shows the tedious, meticulous, detail-oriented aspect of the HVAC/R skilled trade. Very good job and I'm posting this comment before I've viewed the entire video, 3/4 of the way through it. The detail of it caught my attention.
Thanks Tyrone.
Dude, I love your commentary.. Studying videos can be so dry but you keep me howling! Thanks for great info and sharing!
Dave I've got 7.5 yrs in the hvacr trade between the first 2 yrs of my entry to the trade to now five an a half going on to 6 years theres nothing better than hoping on CZcams an checking on my man nor cal Dave you remind me of me father-in-law the man who thought me the trade doing the largest 1 man band largest commercial reefer outfit in the fl keys since 78
That’s awesome Calvin.
I wish I had some content but atm iam only dealing with residential a/c service an install but sometimes watching your videos its literally me and my father-in-law he could say hi an beer time in Spanish and of course me being younger sn taken Spanish in school I was semi fluen then all I hear myself say was Oye Qué máquina es no trabajando ahora.
I love the Mexi-Cali vibes/people in the vids
I've learned a lot from watching your channel. You are as thorough as anyone can be. As an apprentice years ago, my boss was a stickler for details - you remind me of him. As a Jouneyman, I never stop learning - nature of the beast. I kind of wanted to point out that ,at least in NY, OSHA will fine us for not anchoring our ladders at the top with a bungie or something - just an observation. Keep 'em coming - I look forward to your vids :)
Here at the Retirement Home for Electrical Test Equipment, I have one of those first-gen digital Amprobe clamps. Still works great and the calibration in all test ranges is spot on -- the previous owner took outstanding care of it.
I've never pulled a vacuum through my core removal tool (C&D Valve), so no idea if it leaks...I'm not yet brave enough (and also aware that my life is a comedy) to pull vacuum through dedicated hoses.
Nice! Here a tip for you, 448a is out 452a is the replacement for now. It even taste better😁
Easy start up after fixing everything sparky did wrong! Keep up the good work!
25:54 - It may seem counter intuitive, Dave [adding to restrictions?]; but, I have to use the 90° fitting out of my TruBlu kit on refrigeration “just for such times as these.” No prob.
32:47 - I love my VP87 but I would totally buy a new one if they designed the spout on the bottle and drain to be near one end instead of right in the middle. It would be much easier to pour (similar idea to the offset tops on quart bottles for your automobile.)
Your funny man. 😂 love it
Great video and clean job well done 👏 ✔ 👍
That song is programmed in my brian. " I'm a super tech"...oh yeah.
Great stuff Dave! Dude I have been getting so frustrated with the Appion and the Tru Blu vacuum core tools, they are all leaking from the damned ball valve handles! Interesting about adjusting the 448a valves I have yet to have any issues and have actually been surprised with how I haven't had to adjust them.... go figure anyways Happy new year and hope you had a nice Christmas bud!!
I was going to say the same lots of leaking on the ball valves and also I have yet to adjust a walk in cooler txv but every freezer I have had to adjust.
Merry Christmas 🎄 I’ve only done 4 R448a systems so far all low super heat if I remember right. Someone needs to invent the core tool of all core tools.
I have yet experience leaks on my smurfs hoses. Thank's for the heads up.
C&D VCT👍👍
I always put units in so they point north south, because the wind here normally comes from east or west. And if it's windy and your condenser stands directly in the wind, there is a chance the fan will Amp out..
Nice video.. True pro at work
Great video with lots of good information. Nothing like buying some expensive hoses that you have to assemble and then they wont work, lol. The basic black 3/8 yellow jackets have always worked well for me. Gives you time to clean up and cram down some lunch. Good job, enjoy the day.
Exactly
I have a case exactly like that one with my electronic sight glass
Thanks!
Thank you!
Digging the new style of video you recorded on this one! Had me cracking up with all the cleanup work you had to do in the beginning 😂🤘🤘🇺🇸🇺🇸
nice use of the exhaust fan hood for the roof penetration classy
Little tip about bout this vac pump : there's a little gas ballast (lever with a red led). At the beginning of the vacuum, you should open it (red led), then close it after a minute. It's gonna prevent the first big amount of moisture being in contact with your oil. (Adsorption).
The cryptanite of the refrigeration man = sparky - EVERY DAMN TIME!
That's why I do my own electric...
wohoo, Glad I found this channel
Day after Xmas it was in the 20's. Nice video
60 here. 58 today
Super tech song stuck in my head such a good vibe:)

Nice long video! The cyborg headcam is working really well n all 👍🏻👍🏻
Lol! You shop exactly like I do... checking prices.. then checking the weights. After 7 years my wife does the same shit 🤣🤣
Nice job !
Smurfette tried to tell you that the Smurf Bonner was too big to handle😂 Merry Christmas Dave another great video
🤣😂🤣😂😂😂
Excellent video Dave 👍👍👍
Thank you! 🤘⚡️🤘
Nice job, I’m glad I’m not the only one that overthinks the vacuum hose hookup😂 fitting to adapter to Schraeder tool to hose, lol that’s me 😂. I was hoping you would throw that “ smurf boner” off the roof. Line and load backwards Is as bad as guys that hook line to the BOTTOM of the contactor , that’s a good way to get jolted. Thanks for the video. I’m surprised that that system was that dirty on the vacuum.
Could of been oil from last job in vacuum pump. He he he
Awesome video
What kind of flowers are they going to store inside that walk in ? 🤭😎🤪. Good video Dave those Turbo Air units are decent!!!
Time will tell. The one at the brewery I piped years back has had zero issues
@@NorCal-refrigeration yeah all Turbo Air condensing units I’ve worked on are still going !
Old school practice but the modern principle
I actually prefer the loctite to the Great stuff foam. Good sh** Mr. Dave all is ON POINT!

Nor Cal Recording studios 2020 hits. Nice! Look up Super tech for those who haven’t heard his song.
Good little vid Super Dave ...
Hey Nor-Cal seeing that you started using Wagos like a supertech, you might want to check out the MaxiFlex Endurance gloves too ^^
Use them all the time.
I have never seen so much oil go bad in running vacuums in hvac/r only with this on the go oil change field piece equipment, makes me wonder if the plastic pieces they use for the oil reservoirs are to blame for leaking and absorbing moisture. Also it would help the manufacturer sell more, "reccomended oil", and its all about making money in the end. Any feedback from people who have been using this type of vac pump recently fo last few years.
Interesting
He's a super tech!!
NICE JOB 👌 THANK U
My Dad had one of those Amprobe clamp meters with the red led displays, must have been back in the 80's!
Similar issues with the Smurf boner, think they do a 90' fitting which might be helpful but will wait to see if we can import things here next year!
I think everyone went from aw sperry to fluke....
I need to see about different fittings to re hab that hose, or I need to give it away.
Good ONE..
Great video. I do not envy you fighting that traffic every day trying to run service calls. Do you charge your customers for sitting in traffic, I would imagine you would have to to a point.
Love the super tech shit in the background what the hell is up with that! You’re so funny.
When you put that “winning “ text up , lol now I gotta go watch the Charlie sheen tiger blood video.. epic
🤘⚡️🤘
I hope you didn't hire the electrical guy, cuz he will be back fixing his mess. He should've known you never run flex through the roof jack. A big electrical mess here. Your end looks good, nice job on the explanation of the unit commissioning. Thanks for the video.
I got hired by owner just for box part.
Cool cuz that would backfire in to your lap. Great cover.
Music a little loud and drowned you out in places. All in all, another great video. I got spanked by the fire department for taking my jug out of the box because... The non flammable gas label was on the box! Made me buy adhesive green NF stickers for each tank!!!!
Appion core removal tools. They don’t leak
Ok ya 🤣😂🤣🤣 I have 2 leakers and rebuilt them both.
All my appion leak, C&D I have still hold, twice the life
That blue hose is more trouble then it’s worth.
Yep. The good ol vacuum hoses work fine.
I noticed you were looking at the pt chart on r448 box bottom.. Why not take a photo with your phone to have it with you?
The song on the background “super tech” 🤟🏻
I liked it
I forget temp. 4 flowers-I'm guessing 52F?....nice work!
She’s looking at 41-42
I cant justify how much tru blu hoses are i bought 1 navac hose with a 1/2 diameter and fixed ends of 1/4 and 3/8 on the other
Yep
Nor Cal, you need to buy the great stuff gun. Saves you a lot ⏱ and 💵
37:00 I got that meter for Xmas from my dad! 🤟
In Philly
Dave do you build the boxes for the customer too or just install condenser and evap
Both
@@NorCal-refrigeration thanks I just started installing them. Having some trouble understanding the king Valve add to how many turns to open for vacuuming
@@NorCal-refrigeration thanks for all your videos really helped me a lot

And sparky left the mounting hole open. Oh well....
Do you prefer testo smart probes or Fieldpiece?
Fieldpiece
is the silver roof part of the same building or the one next door
Hey Dave why can’t you come thru a roof penetration in seal tight? I see it done all the time in the Midwest. Also that electrician should’ve known code requires a outlet on equipment within 50 ft. Big miss on there part.
Pretty sure it’s code.
Here in Oklahoma it is the same because that flex crap breaks down and has to be replaced so code went to rigid penetrations only.
I will have to look up the neca code. But I must say a lot of commercial electrical outfits here do not follow that code.
@@daveg8918 we see it all the time here in Ohio without many issues.
How do you feel about people charging refrigerant to the maximum charge via the installation manual? Personally I find it lazy and inno way practical other than overcharging the customer
There’s proper ways to charge systems not all the same. Package units take a specific charge easy as pie. Systems like this there is no specific charge other than receiver size line set size and length.
@Jordanwright So your just charging to a full sight glass and done? That won't work in cooler climate. A extra pound or two shouldn't be considered a screw job unless you liked going back for free.
Enough Bonner.
👍🇹🇷
Walk-in coolers needs defrost timer ?
Not always. But an air defrost keeps nuisance ice ups away.
That make sense. 👍
Have you ever had You Tube flag you for a copyright on your own music you made ?
No never
On 220v is there a line and load? I thought they are both hot just on different phases
With a "split phase" setup like this and a modern disconnect, there will be two line and two load terminals.
Where can we listen to the whole song 😂😂😂
3rd yeah...
Dave, why do you Nylog flare fitting THREADS and not the FLARE faces?
The gasket on the hoses is for the seal. The threads is for the CZcams police I pulled vacuums for 25 years without that stuff.
The threads for the CZcams police😂😂😂😂. Sad but true. With Fame comes criticism. You can't please everybody. Your shows are awesome Dave.

what is the song that always plays at the beginning of your videos?

@@NorCal-refrigeration thank you!! I just now listened to it on Reverb Nation
I am not a "sparky", so when you are talking about what he did wrong, I have no idea what that means. it looks fine to me?
Code that going through roof jack has to be rigged pipe not flex.
@@NorCal-refrigeration that is a jack for a bathroom fan I put them in before
@@NorCal-refrigeration Ahh ok, that makes sense. I am an electronics engineer and not a sparky so I wasnt sure. I make circuit boards :-)

You are very silly. Electricians do not know anything about HVAC/R. Sometimes is frustrating for the same reasons that you are depicting in your video. One question. What is the switch that you used for the evaporator fans?
I work with good electricians that understand controls and get it right all the time. So the ones that lack at there trade I bag on. 😂😂😂😂🤘⚡️🤘✨✨
