Happy days. I went to school at Manor Park. Caught 20b bus from the cinema. Had milk delivered by Stays. My sister had her wedding reception at the Swan.
I lived in Aldershot between 1965 and 1970, and I Loved the place. I was a Schoolboy growing up here. We used to play in the old disused Barracks, on the Assault Courses, build 'Dens' , collect American Civil War Cards, watch Gerry Anderson TV_SERIES, read TV21 and the BEANO Comics. I attended Marlborough Lines infants, Talevera Juniors , and Heron Wood Boys County Secondary School. It was a place I have such Fond memories (some not too fond) but overall, I loved it there. Sadly, it has changed. the Atmosphere and Character just gone. All the buildings demolished to make way for housing for I WONDER WHO?? One cannot access many areas that were easily assessable at one time. The shops seem less (except for Nepalese ) I have Strong vivid memories of Aldershot, and many good friends all now lost as Ghosts from a long distant past..
I also was, 1970 something til 1970 something else. Best childhood ever, and of course the assault course "playground". A real emotion to end up back on the assault course as a Soldier years later. You know when your playground is a military assault course, you had a good childhood......
Used to live in Vine close around 1969 ish, went to Talavera school, was an Army brat! Malcolm Club and they were building the main road as we used to play in the drain pipes. There used to be a pet cemetary or at least army animal cemetery nearby I am sure
Both good and not so good memories of Aldershot. Lived there asa kid from 1968-1973 Willems Park in the flats first and then the houses at the top of Willems park.
Spent many years in Aldershot in basic training at Browning Barracks (Para Reg 1990's) then across the road with 3para. 👍👍 Good Times 👍👍. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
