  • I made a beginner-style guitar hanger to hang guitars on the wall out of Black Oak in a series I'm making for Grizzly Industrial for #nationalwoodworkingmonth using all of my Grizzly Green tools!

    I just showed this to my daughter, who is learning to play the guitar.
    She wants one.
    Thank you for showing me something I can use to teach her wood working.

    Being a woodworker for over 50 years I always enjoy your video's If not for the advanced and the beginner
    Your methods and explanation make them easy to follow. And your alternatives to different methods AKA the chamfer is great. You don't see a lot of those in other videos keep up the good work.

    Nice job. Only problem is the whole time I was wondering why there wasn’t guitar music in the background instead of piano. Love the project.

    Great beginners project. My son has been increasingly interested in guitars 🎸. He picked up his 1st about 3 years ago in high school. He hasn’t looked back and has 8 now. We need a place to store them other than the ground, floor stand, etc. This looks like an easy enough project for him & and I both to tackle. Learning experience for us both, time spend together & guitar holders. Win all the way around! Thank you for the inspiration, as all the rest of your videos provide!

    William , a very elegant, simple and functional design that is easy to build...well done!
    Now about that door...Even if the amp is screwed to the floor and the door is screwed shut, that door will find its way to that guitar some day.

    In time the wood will wear the finish off the neck and also leave dents, which is why manufacturers of guitar hangers always use leather or a rubber material. And it also helps to prevent guitars from twisting off the hanger and crashing to the floor, especially if a headstock is not symmetrical which many aren't

    Regardless if you're a fan of their tools, the history of Grizzly and it's founder, Shiraz Balolioa is such an amazing success story. I recommend anyone who hasn't seen the video about how the company got started to check it out. Literally started out with nothing.

    I would just add glue to the wings you screwed. If I have no good reason to ever wish to take something apart, I always glue and nail or screw.

  • @HomelessOnline
    @HomelessOnline Před rokem

    Beginners: first, get your hands on a drill press, edger, planer, joiner, plug cutter, spindle sander...you probably already have a table saw and a miter saw. (I didn't watch the rest, not sure if I need a mill.)

    • @wmwalkerco
      @wmwalkerco  Před rokem +1

      I was reusing neglected stock. You could simply buy S4S stock and omit the steps using all of those tools. The plugs aren't structural and could also be omitted or you can purchase pre-made plugs. You could cut the stock using a cheap handsaw miterbox they sell at most home stores. The drill (not the drill press) is required but that is a tool I would argue belongs in any home woodworker or not. Stop complaining and go make something. You obviously stopped watching before I showed how many simple ways to make a chamfer.

    Nice video, William. However, I have to ask a question. Why not make the plugs from a piece of the same red oak board instead of the cherry? Seems like you could have found a very similar grain to almost match and make the plugs all but invisible.
