Thessalonique - Istanbul
World premiere this weekend (11-12 03 22) for the 100th anniversary of the PODIUMACADEMIE LIER, Belgium.
The ensemble includes the whole clarinet family, from small clarinet to contrabass clarinet, Bb clarinets, alto clarinet and bass clarinets.
The piece is based on two major influences: Macedonian music and Turkish music.
The first part is an original composition in 7 beats, alternating tender and lyrical moments, soft and caressing, with a lively and virtuoso dance. The second part " Istanbul " is largely inspired by a Turkish theme: Hicazkar Oyun Havasi. It is full of virtuosity and its mode (Maqam), typical of Turkish music, is ideal for improvisation.
The piece closes as it began, in " Thessalonique ".
