- I finally got a copy of the Duel Master's Guide DVD. Enjoy the nostalgia! I did my best to maintain the original quality, while trying to make it look decent. I think it turned out well.

That Kaiba - Yugi duel... There were so many smart moves they didn't take...
Keep in mind that this is as much an instructional video as it is something for entertainment purposes. They want to showcase everything they feel is important for beginners to know,
Remember the garbage that was in the original starter decks. I remember thinking that Change of Heart could have been used on Blue Eyes, but then I was reminded that Lord of D protects Dragons on the field. As for having to start with a weak attack point monster, at least it makes it clear that the opponent would stay in attack mode. Bait, in other words

I do love the fact that with the sample duel, you can actually change the camera angle to show either the perspective of the Yugi deck or the Kaiba deck.
Oh man, when I was a kid I would watch this DVD just to feel like I was participating in real duels when my friends couldn't hang out. What a blast

I get the joke, but some people need to ratio out their decks to make sure if they're cohesive enough to duel without bricking. I get the appeal behind some of the cards, but seriously: Determine whether or not you want this card, or if you're doing something else entirely with it.
Heh, those numbers are trash anyway. It's actually not a big problem to have a few extra monsters if they benefit you and Spells are much faster than Traps. This was also the days before they had archetypes. All decks back in the day were kinda cobbled together and splashed with the best of the best.
Then the Banlist happened. This was the days before the ban list and only had limited lists

I've seen in the GX DS games, they had like an 80 card limit. Damn, now that's overpowered! It's near the deck size of a tarot deck!!!!!!
@@xtalongraspx9004 not really ? The more cards in your deck the less likely you can get to drawing what you need. There's a reason lots of TCG players try to thin their deck out as much as possible.

Hearing Dan Green and Wayne Grayson do a beginner's guide to playing card game is hilarious and iconic at the same time.
I remember a gx version of this where the intro has parts of the gx intro and jaden vs crowler. The narrator was either a british or australian actor and not someone from the show.
This feels so outdated now... But so nostalgic. I still have this on dvd... If only they did this for every era, would be nice

i am quit new to yugioh and i can understand that i don't think i was born when the og show was airing but i really like the old cards (they look like museum art) And Archetypes didn't exist then so U actually felt like u were building ur deck

I'm trying so hard to find a specific Yugioh dvd I used to have. It had a bunch of recaps of duels, like the ending of Yugi vs Marik. It also used footage from the show to make basically AMV's with the Music To Duel To songs. I think it came packaged with an accessory or deck as a promo thing, but I really liked it when I was younger. Any ideas what it was?
I remember this! I loved watching the Sample Duel whenever I got to it! Nowadays, this is SO outdated it's funny!
Also, how would someone get a Draw in a duel way back in this era?

Yeah, a Normal Summon is still a thing. Players use their Normal Summon very cautiously these days. Why risk your Normal Summon when you could spring multiple effects to Special Summon your best monsters?

It sounds like that the sample duel has multiple “angles” to cycle through. Do you think you can post the other versions of the sample duel? You can cycle through them with an angle button (it might look like a movie film camera)

There are games where the original rules of the game haven't changed at all throughout the years, those games have added things to the rules that don't come into direct conflict with the original rules of the game, so it can be done.

What was what in the GX era ? It was still the fusion deck if that's what you're asking. The fusion deck changed into the extra deck once 5Ds introduce syncrons

As for the facedown thing, are you referring to Maneater Bug? Remember, this was back when flip effects were more of a thing. Besides, he attacked into a Giant Soldier of Stone and didn't wanna risk something else springing on him and crippling his strategies. This was also during the days when Life Points weren't seen as a resource and players didn't wanna risk too much. If you were lower on Life Points, you were currently losing the Duel. That's kinda how it was back then. Nowadays, these decks would still be slow, but they would be way more reckless with their plays since Life Points don't matter until they hit zero
@@game84cube i guess hindsight would be needed but just that if he took out man eater bug early he would have been able to snowball as he always had the dark hole and hane hane would force summoned skull back at hand, so the yugi deck would have been boned by simply attacking man eater while fd.
