    Pretty cool gadget, even better review! I wonder if the battery life can be more than 2-3 hours if the ESP needs to constantly update the screen?

    • @voltlog
      @voltlog  Před 4 lety +11

      I will be measuring that in an upcoming project, I'll use my Joulescope and that should allow me to estimate battery life to answer this question.

    The ESP32-PICO-D4 is actually a hybrid module which contains the ESP32 itself plus flash memory and a crystal oscillator.

  • @ThisMicrophoneSoundsCheap

    A version with the heart rate sensor or oximeter would be great, as it would be one of very few such devices that don't require google fit and run open source software.

    I wonder if you could use it to aid in home automation like detecting which room you are in based on the signal level of the device or controlling equipment with it (turning on, off, etc)

    Excellent review, as you said, would be better if the first upload is the OTA updater and then programming with OTA -

    TP4054 has rather high Iq, if you want to save bit more power, swap it with something like MCP73831, they're pin-to-pin compatible.

    The MPU9250 was discontinued by the manufacturer a while ago, I think, though there seemed to be a fair few of them floating around China.

    How did you manage to turn it on? I can't figure out if mine is DOA or if I just don't understand how to turn it on. There are no buttons and no indication of how to power it on.

    why the ttp223 if esp32 has native touch gpios?

    • @voltlog
      @voltlog  Před 4 lety +4

      I'm guessing it could achieve lower power usage by having the TTP223 wake up the ESP32 from sleep when touch detection happens? Haven't checked the actual numbers but that would be my bet.
