- Putting together a step notch for Jack Black. The tubing was about $30 at Ace and the square stock was $20 at the local steel yard. I just like building things.
Why didn't I just do a C-notch? Check this out. Food for thought.

Awesome
Very nice.
Yessss
That looks so fucking sick man!!!
Listen to your old man. Looks awesome with the front end sitting theway it is.
I just can't do it lol I do want to build a gasser someday, but this ain't gonna be it lol
Hi what is the exact measurements you used?
Milk crates and a sheet of plate as your wilding. Crazy, hey man whatever works brother.
How much clearance does that notch give you
What tire size on the back your runing? Innthe video?looks great man
I’m sure you got flamed in the comments already but you never wanna cut the frame until the notch is pretty much installed and welded for integrity of the frame and use A saws all or cut off wheel for a cooler method other than blow torch
I had to go back and rewatch to make sure, but you can see in the video that I get the notches like 80% welded in before the frame is actually cut, on at least 3 axes. Torch isn't gonna hurt the integrity of the frame enough for me to worry about and its much cheaper and faster than a cutoff wheel. This truck has lifted the wheels since this was installed, its plenty strong.
Where side pieces of the notch the same dimensions as the top metal piece of the notch?? I’m going to try this at home and I wanna be sure before I try
Yeah, the way I did it they were all the same size and all cut at the same angle
What materials did you guys use ?
Did you all put the leaf springs under the rear end and flip the u bolts?
Yeah, I think that's what we did
SniderTron 3000 I ended up watching the further videos and they answered my questions lmao thank you
I have seen just about every truck out there get a step notch before. Many I have done myself, but every time I still get all giddy like a lil girl when it's done! I love how you said need to trim the bed floor a bit, most would think die grinder maybe a lil hand held electric one. Nope! Not your dad! He busts out a 12" spinning wheel of metal be gone tool!! LoL you guys did an awesome job on it!!
Josh where did you end up putting the rear shocks at
I just got done doin the same thing to my 95 stepside OBS but it would of look cleaner if u would of pick up the floor of the bed instead of cutting it in the middle i rides it up 7" looks alot cleaner I can send u my video
It would look cleaner, but its not a show truck so we didn't care
@@SniderTron3000 oo I see am on a truck called the OBS mob here in Phoenix az but u did a nice job on it 👍🏻
Truck club
Your dad loves that torch more than anything lol AWesome notch kit....saved $$$ and so much stronger than most
Man a hot wrench makes so many jobs easier
How did you cut the finders with and wht did you use
What are the dimensions of the square tube you used?
nvm just rewatched the first five seconds hahah
If you want to get rid of that rust on the frame try using rust converter primer, I highly reccomend it did it on my 92' stepside. After you can coat it with paint to make it last longer.
Can you please give me the dimensions on the step notch I'm doing the same thing to my chevy
I think they were 10" long on the outside of the bar and each cut was 30°
Another question, sorry lol, but with just the flip and notch, how much did it lower it?
Just a flip kit is usually around a 6" drop
Almost ready for a 4 link set up lol. A few brackets, tubeing and hime joints.
I remember bout 8 ish years back, I helped a buddy build the frame for a 84 ram. Bags, full back half, links, custom frame.Had the help of lazer cutter though. Just a big puzzle lol. Anywho, thats gona be looking sweet when your done.
Love what you're doing. I've got a 92 fleetside that i just dropped a built 489cid bbc into. I can't wait to start beefing up the drivetrain then suspension to hit the 1/4 mile. I'm hoping to get it under 4,000 lbs and get into the 10's with it.
guys plz what does a step notch do
It just allows the axle to go up further
I plan on doing a C-notch to my race truck. Mine is a 96 Ram long bed. It's also a v6 auto currently but is getting a 360 swap real soon. Watching these videos (even though these are GM and mine is Dodge) is really inspiring me to get mine started. I'm thinking drop spindles up front, axle flip and notch the rear. Engine and trans swap. Maybe a procharged or a Cummins turbo...but either way thanks for the motivation.
Nice job. What do you have for front lowering so far? Dropped spindles and coils put the bottom bumpstop a millimeter from the frame. Gonna need a smoke wrench solution for the front now.
I love the way it looks especially bein a step side and lowered looks 10x better in my opinion. That thing is dirt nasty low lol if I had it and it was lowered like that id have to get me some baby moons and put on it
I copped you thank you
Have you considered to make an aerocap for the bed to get rid of the air pocket that trucks have behind the cab? I'm sure you could do it pretty cheap and end up gaining from it somehow. Idk just a thought . Keep on kicking ass 👍🏻🔥
Welding right next to the gas tank /;
Live dangerously lol
Another episode of OSHA violations.. but I love it!!! Keep the videos coming. I have a 94 6.0 swapped and always enjoy seeing what you guys are going to do next.
Gotta have over 10 employees to meet OHSA requirements. Shops smaller than that are exempt.
Dude it tucked the monster truck tires very nicely, looks so good,
Take that pride baby
Awesome job!! Looks much better.
Try he homie gots pride
How wide r your wheels in the back
295
A bro i have the same truck with a 4/8 drop right and i have some 15x8 rims and i need to put a 1inch wheel spacer will it still clear with out infering with my finder or not
Depends on your offset
I love it. Great montage of sparks and pretty blues. I like how you think outside the box and get this stuff done on a budget. Good and functional.
I am getting ready to do the same thing my beds all off just been waiting for you to do yours so I can get a idea now I can start cutting her up thanks great video
I cheated on the bars. They're all 30 degree cuts. Worked out really well lol
Tig weld or mig?
For most things like this I prefer mig. Its quicker, gets the job done, plenty strong, easier to get to the awkward spots. Tig takes forever
Sorry to bug but, but I dropped my truck and i feel like my gas tank hangs to low what do you recommend, I was thinking about adding a thin layer of sheet metal
If you're worried about it hitting, I don't think sheet metal would do much. I'd find some 1/16" or 1/8"(depending on how much of a concern weight is to you) and make a skid plate. It wouldn't have to cover the entire thing, just the area most likely to hit the ground going over like a bump or driveway
Thanks bro I appreciate it! One more thing, I’m planning on welding a cnotch should I do 120, or higher for the frame
Don't give a F**K if I'm first or not! Happy as F**K to be watching another SNIDERTRON 3000 video!
Looks good especially if you've never done it before. I kinda like the stance and should help weight transfer
Great job looks awesome
Hell fn yes!!!! That thing is sitting Tight! Great work guys.
To I saw video that you have to lower the truck before you notch it to find the center the frame I am working on is stock hieght at the moment do you know if this is true to put on the lowering kit first before I notch it
All they needed was a torch and a Chicago welder !!! Beat that Jesse James!! You gentlemen earned my respect ✊!!!
I like it with those wheels I think they could use center caps and it’ll look sick af once the front is lowered
Truck looks awesome. Good work keep it up.
Looks fucken bad ass man doesn’t the rear end look just a tad bit forward in the wheel well it is it just me?
It's sitting on those torched up axle saddles, so it's sitting a little funky
Holy shit that was a workload. Dads the fckn MVP of this one I have to say. First of all coming at us with the most wicked torch skills I’ve seen, then out of nowhere just wielding that gigantic cut off wheel like it was a 3 incher, followed by the fact that he didn’t even stop for his smoke break taking the dart along for the fckn ride my god
So badass brotha can't wait to see her going down the track!!
Love watching the progress on Black Jack man, been subscribed since you got it! Always have had a soft sport for OBS trucks and you’re giving me great ideas for a future project of mine
Talk about nervous We cut a brand new at the time 2018 f150 frame to c-notch it because a kit wasn’t made yet. It was for a disabled man who had to use a wheel chair. The truck is waaaay low.
Looks mint. No 4link and coilovers? Pop wheelies...
Nah, for our power level and ET, leaf springs will be plenty good enough. But there are plenty of fast leaf spring cars. I mean shit, look at Ron Rhodes Camaro running 4's in the 1/8th
Did you change the shocks ?😂
Got new ones on the way
I love how it sits now. I would probably leave it like that
Now that's top Notch fabrication. Anytime Captain Inferno make an appearance, the project will be a success.
This video is a great way to start the week! Looks badass.
they make a set of wheels that look identical to weld pro stars but they're knockoffs and alot cheaper!! but they're seriously identical! those would look so killer
The fire chief love that fire ax. Your dad is a machine with that. Love it.
nice!!!!!
Nice work
Great job bro! You did some sik welds too! 👍🏽🔥💯
Man that looks amazing!! Some fresh paint and some headlight/taillights would make this a real head turner at the track!! But I still love the look of it now man. Y’all did a hell of a job!
That came out absolutely beautiful
Yal did a good job on that
That looks awesome man 👏🏽 . wish you could do mine like that 👌🏽
Capital harley sold me a lemon 2008 utlra classic
That sucks. Might be able to just resell it and recoup most of your money
Rebuild the gear box twice had to have them re service it claimed it was ready to ride air filter was black
just raise the bed floor a little higher then the c notch
Tub it now and put fatter tires on it
lol these are already 295's. It doesn't make enough horsepower to warrant big tires
It looks like the axle needs to be moved back in the wheel well a bit to center it. But looks awesome otherwise.
when you say you cut the fender.. what did you cut because my 95 rubs and i’ve just hammered it out cause i’m scared to put a cutting wheel to it
The fenders on the step side trucks are fiberglass, so the lip you hammered I just completely cut off. You might want to just rent or borrow a fender roller and pull them out a touch. Or do like I've done in the past and use a baseball bat and have someone drive ahead slowly lol
SniderTron 3000 i’ll try the bat method or with a piece of tubing thanks 👍🏼👍🏼
Put a fleet side bed on it bro. Looks badass tho.
looks great man
Damn homie nice build you have going on. Love your vids. Keep up the good work man.
On a side note how much would you charge to send a c-notch made by you out to FL 😎
lol how much you willing to pay?
That’s sweet great work!!
Sick!!! It's making me miss my old truck lol same low but it was a striaight bed
Would you LOOK AT THAT!!?? Just LOOK AT IT!!
You mean it's bad to weld Mig with Tig gloves? Guess I'm doin it wrong! ha ha ha
Ebay 4 link with bags delivered start at 200 bucks just so you know 👌keep grinding its really starting to come together
Great fabrication skills.
Looks sooo goodd
Sick af
It’s sitting nice 👍
Just busting your chops on the table mine wasnt any better love the death wheel
Only in Michigan u have to torch the nuts to get them off
mean as fuck 😈
Fuckin SICK!!!
Tjats gonna look good af
Yep weld beadlocks will be epic on this thing
You guys are awesome
How level was your welding table was the ground good??🤕😡🤕
It was an 1/8" piece of new diamond plate. Flattest thing in the garage lol
Pops is a surgeon with that flame wrench. Nice welds, maybe not “Instagram hard”, but It was enough for me
👍
I love it! it looks really good!
Your differential ain’t alined
That looks sofa king bad ass!! You guys did an amazing job. I can't wait to see what's next.
Doctor Dad-structo does some good work! And you, too! Looks amazing. Can't wait to see it all done and rollin' down the road. \m/
What did you use to shave the bed ?
Hey that looks awesome and it is going to hook so much better now can't wait to see the track video...your the reason im starting my youtube channel
That's awesome, man! Can't wait to check it out 🤙
