Watching this, im just kinda numb because Arthas was such an iconic character he didnt deserve this especially after blizzard said "We got big plans for Arthas in Shadowlands".

I also appreciate hearing your opinion as a Sylvanas fan, I personally didn't like her story in BfA (always loved her story in WC3 and most of WoW up until then) but I thought the loyalist route was interesting in those questlines and I imagined after she got her "good soul" back which fundamentally changed her character it probably felt like a betrayal for everyone who liked the edgy Sylvanas we've come to know all this time. Her story could have been cool, but it got way too fanservicey for my liking and in the end it seems like it became a huge mess.
She's actually REALLY nice too, I got her to record a message as Sylvanas for a friend of mine (Patty Mattson is on Cameo) and she was really friendly in messages.

Most likely what killed Arthus was the pandemic. Without that interruption in development what we are seeing now would probably have been 9.3 and 9.2 would have been a full Arthus story. As for Sylvanas, she didn't become something new, she went back to being what she was as Ranger General.
I don't even play this game, I only see cinematics. And even for me it's really hard to believe what they've done with such an amazing character like Arthas!!!. How could they destroy a character like this? Unbelievable...

I dunno. kinda similar to how they wrote hellscream outta it, I mean i was glad he went out defiant to the bitter end but did he have to go out at all? i dunno, it just doesn't sit right. as a matter of fact, i think Varyn kinda got the short end of the stick too, yeah he went out badass but did he really have to die? imagine if they write the dark queen outta it, wtf is my incentive to log in anymore at all, my favorite characters getting cut out one at a time. i'm trying to think who else I even give a f*ck about if the dark Queen gets taken out too. I don't even like them reworking her as the Ranger General, would the Ranger General throw out lines like "this world is a prison". F*cking love the banshee. Jaina has potential but they need to let her off the leash once in awhile ("beware of me..."). But who else is there now?? i'm worried

She has been controlled so long I feel this is the old her she think of the people that were adjusting to her soul being split. I also think it would be cool to see her now get the family she wanted let someone else rule over the forsaken can’t you see it caused so much pain your favorite character the one I have come to forgive is in peace to return to her people start a family like she wanted this is all great news for her.
Idk, she already basically acknowledged she was like Arthas back as early as I think Cataclysm when Garrosh called her out as being like him and asked what makes her different and her only answer was "Well, I fight for the Horde." At least with the banshee side it's like, that's such a bad answer that she should've understood how bad and irrelevant of an answer it was (and just didn't care because, well, she serves the Horde and isn't out to kill absolutely everyone like the lich king)...

Well she did get closure in Wrath. And then she threw herself off the top of ICC. But that’s where she met the Jailer and put all this in motion. More book lore that never made it into the game.

With Arthas' wisp that was used to form the weapon; using his soul for power wether since Arthas was dropped by Uther into the Eternal pool. Wouldve been nioce to see Arthas made from Light an then fade away. Like after Anduin steamed off the shadow magic it couldve changed into Light . But other than that I really dont mind Sylvanas being redeemed. Im sure she will get better armor next expansion. Besides after she turned her back on all of Azeroth how else would she stick around unless death of redemption. Unless she stays gone like Illidian as taking over a godlike being.
Sylvanas is my favourite character and Arthas is my second favourite. The problem I have with this cinematic is that they did very dirty to Arthas. There is Uther who was his mentor and friend and there is Jaina who was the love of his life and none of them have any farewell words to him. Arthas did nothing wrong, all he did was under the domination of the Jailer. And Blizzard treated him poorly. Not to mention that Sylvanas' character arc was driven against the wall by Afrasabi on purpose.
They've said multiple times this expansion that Arthas was NOT dominated by the Jailer. The Jailer in fact considered all the Lich Kings failures precisely because none of them were under his control. They said he was influenced by the Jailer but he retained his free will and everything he did was of his own choices. I agree it was a bad ending for him, mainly because he *should* have gone to the Arbiter and been properly judged. Like Kael'thas he should've ended up in Revendreth for a chance at atonement and eventual redemption, but Uther and Devos took that chance away when they took justice into their own hands and yeeted him directly into the Maw without judgment (hence the look of pain on Uther's face when his spark flickers out).
I also wish Uther and Jaina couldve said some final words to him. I understand why Blizzard didnt do that.. but I still wish we could know what they might have said to him that one last time. If this situation happened irl, Jaina definitely wouldve said something to the love of her life. And same for Uther. I'm sure he wished he could apologize for choosing his fate for him

What I would've preferred is him using the last of his energy to help Anduin conquer the magic, like Saurfang and Varian did. With Arthas it makes sense; he's right there, inside Anduin's blade. With Varian and Saurfang? Where the hell did they come from? Sure it was nice, but it didn't really make sense for them to be there unless they, somehow, can just go wherever they please, even a realm (Zereth Mortis) that is next to impossible for anything to reach.
Sylvanas will always be the Banshee Queen anything less is unspeakable it's not fair. If I was really invested in the game like I was I would be even more mad than I am now just hearing about it from friends.
Connection with Banshee Queen? Weird, will reserve judgment on that one, but pleased with how they handled her? Syl non-cheesy? Will have to respectfully disagree, but I love the passion you obv feel about the lore and story in general.
I've been strongly obsessed and connected with Sylvanas for like 14 years. I'm pleased with how they handled her considering I was really pissed off after watching Shattered Legacies. I was scared for what they might turn my Queen into, that she would be completely changed. But it still feels like her. And yea I'm extremely passionate about WoW lore haha :p
At this point I genuinely have no idea what their resolution for Sylvanas' story arc this expansion is going to be. The fact that they've deliberately kept the last chapter of the story campaign off the PTR (literally called Judgment) tells me that it's going to be extremely controversial no matter what direction they ultimately decided to go in. They've really written themselves into a corner the second they decided to have Sylvanas be the one to burn Teldrassil. And granted we know that that particular 'gem' of a story beat was Afrasiabi's fault. Whatever they decide, it's going to tick a good portion of the fanbase off. I highly doubt they're going to outright kill her off....she's too popular for that and much like Illidan she's an iconic character and one of the few old guard left. However, the amount of screen-time and introspection they've been having her display since she got her missing soul fragment back (especially after that cinematic stated her crimes were unforgivable and she must face the consequences for them)....I'm starting to wonder if they're planning on putting her on a shelf for a bit (like they did to Illidan), where she's out of the story for the immediate future, but with the option to bring her back at a later date.
Yea they definitely put themselves into a corner, it sucks the direction Afrasiabi took her and now blizzard has to find a way to resolve it.. I personally think shes gunna willingly go into the Maw to find Nathanos, and we wont see much of her next xpac. Then eventually she will return
At last, Sylvanas forgives herself for what she's done. I wish more people understood this cinematic and that while her path parallels Arthas' journey, the ending is different because of who they were before being corrupted.
I'm glad shes finally finding her peace. It's gunna be a journey for her to fully come to terms with everything, and for others to fully embrace/accept her again, but shes definitely on the right path.
in all honesty,if they would've given us more than that for Arthas I would've been REALLY surprised,I mean,he was cast into the Maw by his former mentor without having any process or judgment,Uther directly gave back to Zooval his servant to do whatever the fuck he wanted with him,and he in fact milked Arthas to build a new Mourne Sword(and I knew it,I had the feeling that the Soul Crystal was Arthas!),that is exactly what should have remained of him,so I like this ending for the character,I feel like taking him fully back as a soul to play a relatively big part would've been too much,and they could've handled it badly,ending up ruining the character,who is one of the best from this universe. About Sylvanas,I really like her like this,her model is great,and I thought it was my favorite the first time I saw it leaked,and I still partially think it is 'cause of the shape of the armor and the decorations,but I'm very undecided between the models we got from WoW,all of them,even the Ranger General one,I can say I'm feeling more driven towards the 9.1's fully armored one,still not so sure tho. Personality-wise,I'm with you 100/100,I fell in love(quite literally since she's my biggest fictional crush)with the sadic,sassy,provocative,hot and I don't give a shit Sylvanas,she will forever be my favorite,but I like changes too,I'm always into trying new and fresh things,and if they're daring,it's even better. I've also always been a fan of villains' redemption arc,since I was very little,it started with Diego from Ice Age and Darth Vader from Star Wars,because sometimes I happen to like so much a bad guy,but not necessarily what he/she does,especially if was a good guy before,so I am like "Oooooh,he/she's so cool,but I hate he/she is doing such horrible things,I want him/her in the good side!". With Sylvanas is not necessarily the exact same,but it feels good to see this new and different take on her,finally fighting alongside Azeroth's Heroes instead of against them,and yes,I loved the shit out of her speech too,you can tell that some sassiness is still there,so that's a plus. The cinematic itself blew me away,I LOVED IT SOOOOOOOO MUCH,it was so powerful and emotional,and it was such a great surprise to see Varian(I love him)and Saurfang,that got me so excited,happy and nostalgic,I think I even screamed a bit,and I caught up on the overall lore only few months ago,but at the same time,I entered this universe since quite some time now,with the movie and Legion back in 2016,and it won me over pretty quickly,so I guess it makes a whole lot of sense ahah
Yea I totally agree, it makes sense this is the route they went with him. I think the fangirl in me just wishes we could've seen him in a cool new Shadowlands style cinematic you know? But I understand story wise why that wasnt a good idea. Personally my fav model/armor of her was her WotLK era. Then I really enjoyed Legion-BFA model as well, especially in the CGI cinematics. She's my biggest fictional crush too, I've formed basically my entire personality/style around her since I was like 15 :P I love villains too I always thought she was a badass as Ranger General anyways, like back in Warcraft 3, and yea you can definitely still tell she has sassiness and a certain tone to her voice which I love. So yea thats a plus and something I can still vibe with. But I will still always vibe with the Banshee Queen more than this new version. I also really LOVED this cinematic. All the models, facial expressions and voice acting were amazing, I felt soo many emotions when Varian was there

I loved this cinematic, Sylvanas got some closure and can move on. I'm also just happy to see her in general. I'm nervous about where her story will go from here but atleast Arthas's shadow is no longer looming over her.
Finally the death of the one who killed his people and took away part of his soul and subjected it to a tragic fate filled with eternal torment. Sylvanas will finally be able to move on. Arthas was evil even before his death unlike Sylvanas and chose his destiny to become the Lich King. I expect to see Sylvanas leading a 3rd faction with the Dark Rangers for the next expansion.

To be honest, I found this to be both touching and heartbreaking...I am glad that Arthas wasn't back in full...I hated him, and have no interest in seeing him redeemed, and since Blizzard seems so fixated on redemption, I would have been furious if they tried that with him. I have a pretty intense connection to Sylvanas as a whole, so this was actually pretty intense for me (as was Shattered Legacies). However, the whole villain twist was...an odd choice in the beginning of "Shadowlands", though obviously I more than see where she was coming from. From my perspective it was never villainy, but rather a reaction to all the crap she has been through, and quite an understandable one as well.

I don’t get why people are saying that they did Arthas dirty. He’s literally this unrepentant evil force. Arthas is a monster. They can’t change that by saying “oh the Jailer did everything! He was responsible for all of it!” Arthas killed his good self and even Ner’zhul in his own reflections, it’s all in the books. The evil side of Arthas was in control the entire time. And his personality was always aggressive, rude and with dark tendencies. He constantly rebelled against orders. Paladins are supposed to seek justice. He was always after vengeance with a single mind. He had great legendary mentors and he failed them all.
Maybe you Better restart to play WoW from the beginning or you go back play Pokemon,because you have undersrood nothing at all....you don't know Arthas,you don't know his story,you don't know his arc and his Evolution at all.....Better you stop to spit nonsense and go to learn all you don't know

Connection with Banshee Queen? Weird, will reserve judgment on that one, but pleased with how they handled her? Syl non-cheesy? Will have to respectfully disagree, but I love the passion you obv feel about the lore and story in general.
I've been strongly obsessed and connected with Sylvanas for like 14 years. I'm pleased with how they handled her considering I was really pissed off after watching Shattered Legacies. I was scared for what they might turn my Queen into, that she would be completely changed. But it still feels like her. And yea I'm extremely passionate about WoW lore haha :p
At this point I genuinely have no idea what their resolution for Sylvanas' story arc this expansion is going to be. The fact that they've deliberately kept the last chapter of the story campaign off the PTR (literally called Judgment) tells me that it's going to be extremely controversial no matter what direction they ultimately decided to go in. They've really written themselves into a corner the second they decided to have Sylvanas be the one to burn Teldrassil. And granted we know that that particular 'gem' of a story beat was Afrasiabi's fault. Whatever they decide, it's going to tick a good portion of the fanbase off. I highly doubt they're going to outright kill her off....she's too popular for that and much like Illidan she's an iconic character and one of the few old guard left. However, the amount of screen-time and introspection they've been having her display since she got her missing soul fragment back (especially after that cinematic stated her crimes were unforgivable and she must face the consequences for them)....I'm starting to wonder if they're planning on putting her on a shelf for a bit (like they did to Illidan), where she's out of the story for the immediate future, but with the option to bring her back at a later date.
Yea they definitely put themselves into a corner, it sucks the direction Afrasiabi took her and now blizzard has to find a way to resolve it..
I personally think shes gunna willingly go into the Maw to find Nathanos, and we wont see much of her next xpac. Then eventually she will return

At last, Sylvanas forgives herself for what she's done. I wish more people understood this cinematic and that while her path parallels Arthas' journey, the ending is different because of who they were before being corrupted.
I'm glad shes finally finding her peace. It's gunna be a journey for her to fully come to terms with everything, and for others to fully embrace/accept her again, but shes definitely on the right path.
in all honesty,if they would've given us more than that for Arthas I would've been REALLY surprised,I mean,he was cast into the Maw by his former mentor without having any process or judgment,Uther directly gave back to Zooval his servant to do whatever the fuck he wanted with him,and he in fact milked Arthas to build a new Mourne Sword(and I knew it,I had the feeling that the Soul Crystal was Arthas!),that is exactly what should have remained of him,so I like this ending for the character,I feel like taking him fully back as a soul to play a relatively big part would've been too much,and they could've handled it badly,ending up ruining the character,who is one of the best from this universe.
About Sylvanas,I really like her like this,her model is great,and I thought it was my favorite the first time I saw it leaked,and I still partially think it is 'cause of the shape of the armor and the decorations,but I'm very undecided between the models we got from WoW,all of them,even the Ranger General one,I can say I'm feeling more driven towards the 9.1's fully armored one,still not so sure tho.
Personality-wise,I'm with you 100/100,I fell in love(quite literally since she's my biggest fictional crush)with the sadic,sassy,provocative,hot and I don't give a shit Sylvanas,she will forever be my favorite,but I like changes too,I'm always into trying new and fresh things,and if they're daring,it's even better.
I've also always been a fan of villains' redemption arc,since I was very little,it started with Diego from Ice Age and Darth Vader from Star Wars,because sometimes I happen to like so much a bad guy,but not necessarily what he/she does,especially if was a good guy before,so I am like "Oooooh,he/she's so cool,but I hate he/she is doing such horrible things,I want him/her in the good side!".
With Sylvanas is not necessarily the exact same,but it feels good to see this new and different take on her,finally fighting alongside Azeroth's Heroes instead of against them,and yes,I loved the shit out of her speech too,you can tell that some sassiness is still there,so that's a plus.
The cinematic itself blew me away,I LOVED IT SOOOOOOOO MUCH,it was so powerful and emotional,and it was such a great surprise to see Varian(I love him)and Saurfang,that got me so excited,happy and nostalgic,I think I even screamed a bit,and I caught up on the overall lore only few months ago,but at the same time,I entered this universe since quite some time now,with the movie and Legion back in 2016,and it won me over pretty quickly,so I guess it makes a whole lot of sense ahah
Yea I totally agree, it makes sense this is the route they went with him. I think the fangirl in me just wishes we could've seen him in a cool new Shadowlands style cinematic you know? But I understand story wise why that wasnt a good idea.
Personally my fav model/armor of her was her WotLK era. Then I really enjoyed Legion-BFA model as well, especially in the CGI cinematics.
She's my biggest fictional crush too, I've formed basically my entire personality/style around her since I was like 15 :P I love villains too
I always thought she was a badass as Ranger General anyways, like back in Warcraft 3, and yea you can definitely still tell she has sassiness and a certain tone to her voice which I love. So yea thats a plus and something I can still vibe with. But I will still always vibe with the Banshee Queen more than this new version.
I also really LOVED this cinematic. All the models, facial expressions and voice acting were amazing, I felt soo many emotions when Varian was there
yeah,yeah,yeah,I feel that now that you make me notice,it would've been cool to see Arthas with a WAY MORE advanced in-game CGI than the last one we got.
And,ABSOLUTELY,the voice acting was straight gold,Anduin's scream was INCREDIBLE,really felt,outstandingly interpreted!

I loved this cinematic, Sylvanas got some closure and can move on. I'm also just happy to see her in general. I'm nervous about where her story will go from here but atleast Arthas's shadow is no longer looming over her.
Finally the death of the one who killed his people and took away part of his soul and subjected it to a tragic fate filled with eternal torment. Sylvanas will finally be able to move on. Arthas was evil even before his death unlike Sylvanas and chose his destiny to become the Lich King. I expect to see Sylvanas leading a 3rd faction with the Dark Rangers for the next expansion.

To be honest, I found this to be both touching and heartbreaking...I am glad that Arthas wasn't back in full...I hated him, and have no interest in seeing him redeemed, and since Blizzard seems so fixated on redemption, I would have been furious if they tried that with him. I have a pretty intense connection to Sylvanas as a whole, so this was actually pretty intense for me (as was Shattered Legacies). However, the whole villain twist was...an odd choice in the beginning of "Shadowlands", though obviously I more than see where she was coming from. From my perspective it was never villainy, but rather a reaction to all the crap she has been through, and quite an understandable one as well.
Yea same here. I didnt want to see them redeem him either, I just think Jaina and Uther deserved their moment of closure as well.

@@LadySurvival Yeah, a lot of people don't seem to understand that people react to what they have experienced, and if someone has experienced so much torture and failure, their actions begin to reflect that, and that can come across as "bad" or "wrong" to those on the outside, but inside it makes sense.

I don’t get why people are saying that they did Arthas dirty. He’s literally this unrepentant evil force. Arthas is a monster. They can’t change that by saying “oh the Jailer did everything! He was responsible for all of it!” Arthas killed his good self and even Ner’zhul in his own reflections, it’s all in the books. The evil side of Arthas was in control the entire time. And his personality was always aggressive, rude and with dark tendencies. He constantly rebelled against orders. Paladins are supposed to seek justice. He was always after vengeance with a single mind. He had great legendary mentors and he failed them all.
Maybe you Better restart to play WoW from the beginning or you go back play Pokemon,because you have undersrood nothing at all....you don't know Arthas,you don't know his story,you don't know his arc and his Evolution at all.....Better you stop to spit nonsense and go to learn all you don't know
