They can stop alright, just not very quickly. Especially given that they are travelling at 80-90 km/h (on the open road) & are about as long as an Olympic-sized swimming pool. Fortunately, most road-train drivers are usually very highly-skilled & safety-conscious operators (like the gentleman in the last clip), who know the vehicle's limits & keep to the road rules.

You will find in the UK and AU, we all have the same coloured road signs and numbered highways, so anywhere that is green with farm animals, you could be in either country until you look at the foliage.

One of my friends mums owned a cloths shop in the small town we live in. One day there was a truck coming to deliver more clothes when it crashed head on with another truck. The fuel tanks exploded. They gave the delivery to someone else to deliver and when they were unpacking the boxes they found bits of dried blood on them.
