- No attempt at a fancy or witty title this time. This is pretty much a full-on guide to unlocking all the extra content in this game. As noted in the annotations, I'll be giving details on what the Bonus CD's do and where you can find them, along with going into detail on how to unlock all the secret fights. So, without further ado...
[Bonus CD Unlock Guide]
Note: Bonus CD's will appear after you've beaten the game once on any difficulty. There are ten in total scattered through-out the game. Four of them appear in Robot Master stages, while the other six appear in the fortress stages. It's also important to note that when you collect a Bonus CD, you actually don't need to save your game in order to keep it. The game automatically remembers which Bonus CD's you've collected, seeing as they're independent collectibles outside of the standard saves (this means you can also activate them on any playthrough of the game, be it new or pre-existing).
Bonus CD 1: Found in Coal Man's stage at the end of a run-through of time-bomb platforms and Fireshoops. This CD gives you the "1 HP Mode" bonus. When active, it will make you start every stage with a single point of life (health items and Energy Tanks still work as normal, however).
Bonus CD 2: Found in Dagger Man's stage directly below one of the teleport crystals. Grants the "Beta View" bonus, which lets you see the collision boxes of terrain, spikes, transitional areas, and several other aspects. As a brief warning (one which is also mentioned in-game), this feature can hinder the game's performance.
Bonus CD 3: Found at the end of Wizard Man's stage. Grants the "Levitation" bonus, which lets you slow down your falling speed when you hold the jump button.
Bonus CD 4: Found in the elevator in Trash Man's stage. Grants the "Doot Doot" bonus, which replaces the sound effect of your uncharged buster (probably the most "useless" bonus in the game, and by that, I mean it's clearly the best).
Bonus CD 5: Found in Wily Fortress 1 during the ending stretch of the level. Grants the "Skip to Boss" bonus. As implied, this lets you skip the entire stage and go right to the boss.
*Bonus CD 6: Found in Wily Fortress 2 on the left side of the second spike drop. Grants the "Max Damage" bonus, making it so that you deal 28 damage to everything.
*Bonus CD 7: Found in Wily Fortress 3, specifically in the first room accessed through a vertical transition. Grants the "Hyper Speed" bonus. As implied, this option makes you move at ridiculous speeds when active.
*Bonus CD 8: Found in Wily Fortress 4 after the section involving ladder hopping while avoiding Cyblades. Grants the "Low Gravity" bonus, which sets your jumping physics to half-gravity.
*Bonus CD 9: Found in Wily Fortress 5 during the fall to the boss re-fight chamber (press and hold against the right wall to obtain this one). Grants the "Proto Armor" bonus, which reduces all damage you take to a single point.
Bonus CD 10: Found in the first room of Wily 6. Grants the "C-137 Mode," which basically turns Mega Man into Rick from Rick and Morty. This is primarily a cosmetic change, though it does alter some of the story dialogue (mainly during the pre-fortress cutscene, along with the fights against Proto Man and Wily).
*Other Note: Beating any boss in special mode with these marked bonuses turned on will only award you a one star ranking.
[Secret Fights Unlock Guide]
Insane Mode: Beat the entire game on Hard Mode to unlock this difficulty option. Also, yes - I know this technically shouldn't go in this section, but I figured this was the best place to put it (seeing as it ties in with the requirements of unlocking another secret boss).
Shovel Knight: Beat the final stage of the game with at least 1,000 bolts in your possession. As a side note, you don't have to beat the entire game just to unlock this. If you have a save at Wily 6, you can re-play the Robot Master stages until you get enough bolts, then beat Wily 6.
Simon Belmont: Beat the game without purchasing any upgrades from the shop. These include the armor pieces and the Energy Balancer/Saver.
Red Mage: This one is the exact opposite of the unlocking procedures for Simon Belmont. To unlock the Red Mage, you need to beat the game with every upgrade from the shop in your possession.
Bass: Beat the final stage of the game on Hard Mode. While you can use the same method for unlocking Shovel Knight with this one (for example, setting the difficulty to hard and then loading up a save on Wily 6), I actually wouldn't recommend this, seeing as you'd miss out on unlocking Insane Mode - which in turn, is needed for...
Dr. Light: Beat the final stage of the game on Insane Mode. For this one, I absolutely recommend the load file method (unless you really want to go through a difficulty mode that cranks up damage levels to astronomical amounts). - Hry
I really appreciate the ability to change Megaman's buster shot sound to Skull Trumpet. That is absolutely wonderful.
Bass looks like fun, but I like the fact that Doctor light isn't a pushover using powered up versions of the mm1 boss weapons.
Megaman engages *Based Bass* and his creator's ultimate test. The other bosses are pretty slick too. Man this is a good fangame.
Dr. Light being a boss really feels like the reason why he sealed away X. Like for the context before fight, coming from the latest win against Wily, Rock learned that he could do more other than be a helper bot ((referencing the unlimited potential X has)), which would lead to bad paths for him. Once Rock had learned about what would possibly be his unlimited potential, Light thought its time to shut him down on his own before it gets messy.
its a nice touch that the Red Mage cant cast the level 3 spells. Really accurate.
So glad you showed off of the Dr. Light fight. I honestly wouldn't be mad if Dr. Light's fight was in place of Wily's even if it would mess up story. This is seriously one of the best capsule fights I've seen in a fangame. Nothing reused from other capsules. Callbacks to other Megaman games of yore and awesome fight music onpar with MM4's.
Huh... So Shovel Knight _does_ have some similarities to his _Plague of Shadows_ encounters.
Uses a couple more/different relics this time, though. And gains a dig attack that neither the _Plague of Shadows_ boss nor the player can use, at least in the same manner he does here.
That's actually pretty cool.
He seemed less mobile before I saw that spear attack...
That's a really really neat shot at 14:00 between Mega Man and Bass
I don't know why the people from Capcom don't just make Mega Man games like this anymore. Probably one of the best fan-made Mega Man games I've seen.
It's because Capcom doesn't give a flying F about Mega Man anymore, they're only interested with Street Fighter nowadays.
***** Well they stopped making MM games after he left.
Looks freakin' awesome! Hopefully if Mighty No. 9 turns out to be a bust, maybe some of these fan game designers could churn in an awesome fan game.
Wow. I can't believe it, but somebody in the past *did* have some sharp foresight about Mighty No. 9. Congrats.
PinMike8666 speak of the devil
11:13: Mega Man: Stop right there!
X: You've really caused a lot of havoc, Bass...
Bass: Yeah? I was just taking care of a few loose ends.
Mega Man: So you're not on Goodman's side? You two aren't friends?
Bass: Friends? Treble is my only friend. Not anyone else. Not ever. I actually have one thing to accomplish, Mega Man... You must be destroyed!
Very nice guide!
I'M PICKLE RICK!!!! (sorry, I couldn't resist)
But HOLY CRAP, ALL THAT CONTENT!
LOL, I kinda feel bad for Shovel Knight! The way he just slops on the ground looks kinda sad...
riiiiiiii
While I have beat the game on hard mode, Bass and Dr. Light are just plain masochistic.
(By the way, MrWeirdGuy, if you see this, fantastic job on the game. These features add tons of replay value.)
I guess Bass learned some things from Touhou.
how do you go back through wily's castle and get the cd's once they have already been beaten???
for the Simon fight I felt bloody tears should have been playing
TRUE
This game rocks! fairly hard as well
With practice, I've been able to beat Bass consistently, its his pattern based nature that makes me able to do so. Its Dr. Light I have a hard time on insane, he can be quite random and his half health ground wave attacks are incredibly hard to dodge!
how do you get the piercing buster?
at 1:17 how can i change buster shots to enemy shots?
do these secret fights work for easy mode?
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to play Super Fighting Robot.
the game select music: ruby spears megaman intro
threxx's cover of mrweirdguy's cover
Mega just broke the three rules of robotics XD
heh...you sure took some damage on that base fight...guess you could say its...not your forte, also, MrWeirdGuy, if you are, for some reason, reading this comment, it the implication of Bass' fourth form supposed to be evil energy(MM8)/Zero virus(prototype one maybe?) taking over or...?
Aw, you didn't show off the Insane Mode versions of the fights. Dr. Light in particular, picks up some new fun and nasty tricks in Insane Mode.
I was honestly thinking of doing one last extra video showcasing Dr. Light's Insane Mode fight, mostly because I found his to be the most interesting. Also, if I recall, Bass doesn't really get any changes on Insane Mode aside from increased damage/i-frames (mostly because he doesn't need any more buffs).
***** Yeah, Bass is the one boss who has no AI changes in Insane Mode. Because, like you said, he definitely doesn't need more buffs.
+MrWeirdGuy wow i really doubt that I would be able to beat Bass or Dr light i mean i suck at the game itself already but this might just be overkill
+MrWeirdGuy Dude what a great game! probably the best game out there with Rock Force. Please make more games like this in the future :D
+MrWeirdGuy Any possibility of having Bass as playable character in the future?
RICK FROM RICK AND MORTY!?
+Vent Light Best feature in the entire game
Now _this_ is how Mega Man 8 should have used Bass on Evil Energy.
8:55 Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (2018)
disapointed in the dr light fight, I expected him to have his ryu cosplay and do one-shot hadokens xD
AHHH! Bass's final form is .... A deviant art monster! LOL
Are You Serious?😑
2:49 that's clown man or something else
Mega Man VS Simon Belmont 8:49
Mega Man VS Shovel Knight 7:41
To be fair, you need an extremely high IQ to understand Megaman. You also need to eat Chinese sauce from the floor.
What Are You A douchebag?
Doot doot
Is there really a Rick & Morty thing in this? Is that a joke? That has to be a joke. No, that-- That can't be in the game...
+FriskyRBX Oh but it is
aaproductions23
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
FriskyRBX but it makes the game worth playing again just to see how far they went.
Holy fuck i cant even beat bass in easiest mode what the fuck is wrong with me
