    Sorry brother, I want to share some of my knowledge. To remove the clutch, never make that support again, you will break the piece. You have to place a central socket wrench before removing the clutch springs, and block the outer clucth gear with a piece of aluminum or bronze.
    then never put that chain on the magnetic again. The magnetic one is very delicate. You can remove the piston and block the crankshaft through the connecting rod with wood. I hope you are not offended. Greetings from Patagonia Argentina.

      I am not offended! Thank you for this piece of advice, I understand that my method for removing the clutch was sketchy at best, and I didn’t realize I could remove the flywheel by blocking the crank. That’s a very smart way to do it! I’ve also been told by others about the better way to block the outer clutch gear with a piece of aluminum or something softer. I really appreciate your advice because I don’t want to spread bad habits to other viewers. When I do the engine rebuild video I will mention that there are better methods for assembly/disassembly, and I will demonstrate what you’ve said. Thank you!

    This video is setting off my OCD of not taking the top end apart first. Also, you can put a penny between the gears to get the clutch off and not have to take time fabricating a tool unless you do this often.

      I appreciate your feedback! I’m no expert at dirt bike engine disassembly and I never thought of the penny trick. That will save me a lot of time and hassle for disassembly hopefully so thank you. This was about a year ago and I’m not sure why I didn’t disassemble the top end first. I had already adjusted the valves previously so maybe that’s why. Is there an advantage to disassembling the top end first?

    I'm back my 300 with 50 kit. Has become milky oil water seal failure I am assuming so sad. It ran ok then plughhh. I have so much time and money into this bike I want to cry 😂

    Doesn't KLX 300 using the same engine with ninja 250 SL/Z250 SL mono ? Just has differences in piston diameter 72mm vs 80mm

    • @SpencerSlaughter426
      @SpencerSlaughter426  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I’m not an expert on the differences of these two engines. Obviously the displacement is different but I’m not sure about the rest of the engine architecture. It may be exactly the same or entirely different.

    I got mine down pretty far the cog behind the clutch basket was crazy loose after I got the clutch basket off I seen rod that cod sits on was wore.
    I’m sad to say I might not be fixing this bike.
    Be cheaper to buy one lol

      Yeah would definitely be cheaper to buy another bike probably. I’m already in further than I bought the bike for and I have a lot more parts to buy. I’m just doing it for fun and it will be nice to have a bike that I like in perfect working order when I’m done.

    Are you using an oil filter chain wrench to hold the flywheel firmly?

    • @SpencerSlaughter426
      @SpencerSlaughter426  Před rokem

      The one I use is just a general purpose chain wrench, though an oil filter chain wrench might also work if you can clean each contact surface and get it tight enough.

      The only part of that i can under stand is you asking whether the motor id good. It never had any major failures. I’m just rebuilding it because it is old. I don’t have a factory service manual yet so I can’t say what’s in spec and what isn’t but, for how old the engine is, I’d say it’s in pretty good shape.
