Jim Caviezel hands down. He not only played the best Jesus, he suffered greatly for it.
My opinion, Jim Caviezel and Jonathan Roumie give different yet complementary presentations of the possible life of Jesus. They take you in as a witness to the events.
Robert Powell is the best Jesus.
@@EXPOSEDBYGABRIELPEREZ many people do not know how who Robert is but know of Jim Caviezel acting and obviously Mel Gibson.
It's really subjective. And we really have to take into account the era it was made, e.g. nobody was worrying about a non-white Jesus five decades ago. For me, it is a tie between Sydow, Powell and Roumie.
Agreed! Jim Caviezel was the best!!
Robert Powell still gives me the chills playing our Savior JESUS CHRIST
Me too
Jim Caviezel did a perfect job portraying Jesus Christ.
He was very good yes,
though only God is deemed perfect.
“The Passion” is some, thing modernists find hard to take because of the brutality of the depiction. As far as the acting is concerned, Caviezel has both the handicap of delivering his lines in a foreign language. and the advantage of it being in a foreign language. He is like an actor in a silent film. Certainly the scenes that most break me up and those he acts with Our Lady, She recoils from what she is seeing to the point of running away, where she shows her full humanity and her relationship with her son. When she runs toward him, surely one must have a heart of stone not to weep at the sight. Love conquers all even when experiencing hell on earth.
We know the Face of Jesus in the Paint of Saint Faustina
You're nuts!!! stomping on the snake's (was it supposed to be Satan?) head in the beginning of the film totally blew Caviezel's film for me. That was NOT Jesus stomping on a snakes head. If it was Satan...even less so Jesus. That was NOT how Jesus was going to bring about the kingdom. Caviezel was way too violent a Jesus and simply not convincing from that moment on! Jesus knew he had to die AND RISE....to bring about his kingdom....no other way. Caviezel head smashing...total nonsense and total Gibson. It ruined the film and his protrayal of Jesus from the beginning...I had to walk out from there. Totally unconvincing for me as Jesus.
I recently saw for the first time Jonathan Roumie playing Jesus meeting the woman at the well. His accent for Jesus was perfect. I saw for the first time Jesus smiling. It was the most moving scene For me. It was like being there with them. I was so moved I sobbed. My love for Jesus was enhanced.
Robert Powell!!!!!! Robert Powell!!!!!! Robert Powell!!!!
@@SKMikeMurphySJRelax yourself! Robert did good. Its just that Jonathan is doing a better potrayal of Jesus. Nothing taken away from Robert.
His first appearance with Mary, is stunning. He comes like an angel of God, like St. Michael with a sword in his hand. Then she get to meet him on a human level. I have never seen a better opening to a “life” of Christ.film. Roumie has this way of projecting both authority and familiarity. Sometimes the lines are are bit TOO familiar; which to me detracts. All and all though, what he says to his Disciples is spot on ,for he is like a teacher speaking to men who are still very young,. The decision to cast young actors to play the role. is just great because it serves to explain their lack of comprehension. To cast Peter as a married man is perfectly right, since this explains why he is a natural leader even not much older. To make”Zeb” the father of James and John an important character is right on. That we are in a Jewish world he helps make plain, albeit the central European world we are most familiar with.
So you're defining God? In the Bahama's Jesus was Black, and The Virgen of Guadalupe was Indian. Let art take its liberties, Powel had the presence of a god!@jakes4164
I got emotional too! I love that scene!
Robert Powell, still watch that movie and it always touches my heart.
Da! Eu m-am uitat de 23 de ori.
(Nu ma laud)
Cine se uita de mai multe ori e un fan adevărat al lui Robert Powell, Franco Zeffileri (regizorul) și alți actori
Robert Powell's performance was amazing in 'Jesus Of Nazareth! Jim Caviezel was born to play that part in 'The Passion Of The Christ'. For me, these two films are the absolute best 'Jesus' films.
👏🙂
Totally agree
Completely agree. ~
Oh yes ! Robert Powell in the movie was The Word of Christ and Jim Caviezel in the movie was The Passion of the Christ ! Both amazing actors !! 😍😍
Passion of the Christ was over the top and Caveizel didnt sell it for me.
I've never been so engaged and I've never cried as much watching Jonathan Roumie as Jesus. His countenance, his voice, his simplicity, his humanity. He can act, not just his physicality but maybe it's also how The Chosen is written. Playing Jesus becomes Jonathan Roumie. He portrays Jesus as most authentic as Son of Man and as Son of God.
I am still a Caviezel fan, and the music in the Chosen is not good.
JIM CAVIEZEL no contest...he is such a great actor. Just think of all the suffering he went through portraying Jesus. Dislocated shoulder, struck by lightning, frost bitten, hypothermia, plus 2 heart surgeries. He also had several stitches from being struck by the whip. So, in my opinion it's JIM CAVIEZEL hands down... This man truly suffered portraying Jesus. God bless him!
There is no way you have ever seen Ted Neeley's Gethsemane or you could not say that Caviezel's "performance" was any good because Caviezel was NOT acting. He was not performing. It was not art!!! He was really sick and possibly even dying. That is NOT acting. Neeley's "I only want to say if there is a way...take this cup away from me..." is acting. Neeley's "watch how I die......" followed by images of art history of his crucifixion is art!!! The mixture of old and new...ancient and modern...and being able to pull it off convincingly on a very LIMITED Budget is art!! It is acting!! It is a true performance.
Not to mention he learned Aramaic and Latin and spoke it convincingly throughout the film.
I just cant believe Jesus in The Chosen could make burst with tears many times. The portrayal is so moving and his simplicity and relatability…u can feel here that Jesus is human being…so admirable and amiable…just the perfect portrayal for me ever…
Jonathan Roumie’s portrayal is my favorite with Jeremy Sisto 2nd with Cavaziel & Powell next in that order.
its to woke and fake as a snake

Jonathan Roumie has everything, he looks the way I see Jesus in my mind. His accent is the best and his emotion is so moving. I got chills and moved to tears when he preached The Sermon on the Mount. Even the episode before when he was with Matthew putting his Sermon together he was amazing. He’s without a doubt absolutely THE BEST Jesus ever.
Jim Cavisel, Jonathan Route and then Robert Powell
Jim Caviezel and Jonathan Roumie. They are very different in appearance, but they both have the HEART. We can’t know for certain what Jesus really looked like. I grew up thinking that He looked like the pictures in School and Church, but realistically, he would have looked more like Roumie. I love the familiar feeling that I have when I watch Jonathan Roumie in The Chosen, and he seems to be that way in reality too. There’s something very comforting about him in general.
Jim Caviezel hands down. I have heard him say in many of his interviews that he prayed daily that everyone would only see God and not him. He is a devoted Catholic and he is thankful that the Lord used him to glorify Our Heavenly Father.
Never Cavezel stomping on a snake head's. You have to watch the interaction between Anderson's Judas and Neeley's Jesus at the last supper to see what genuine true acting looks like. Caviezel can't even come close. Look at the interaction between Ellimon's Mary Magdalene and Neeley Jesus and you will see true art! Watch Dennin's Pilate and Neeley's Jesus interact. Jesus say only one line and he pulls the whole seen off conviincingly (with great acting from Dennin too of course.
I think Jonathan captured the humanity the best
For me, Robert Powell of Jesus of Nazareth is the best actor to portray Jesus. I have watched this movie more than a hundred times now, but still it moves me to tears.❤
I agree 100%
@@Tabitha-7 I Also Agree. Rod Stieger Played Pilate to Perfection as well IMHO
It's also the way the movie was produced, cast, and protrayed. Love it.
I grew up watching him too but I do like Jim and the guy on the chosen.
Too western. Jesus was from Palestine. Too frail, Jesus was a builder who worked with lumber and stone, and used heavy tools. Powell's a great actor, though.
Jesus of Nazareth is my favorite. It's not just Robert Powell, it's also his interactions with his friends and disciples...they bring him to life for me. The scene when Peter betrays him, and then they meet after the Resurrection, has been burned into my heart.
Peter denied Jesus, Judas betrayed Him.
All the actors on jesus of Nazareth are superb. Incredible talent. That's what made it the best. The fact that it was long made me want more.
100% agree its Roberts Powells appearance ,acting & all the other actors too Olivier,Ustinov,Hussey I recall raising of Lazarus,I'm not religous but it kept me watching to the end!
@@mogreen1249 Yes. I agree. The scene when Mary (Olivia Hussey) wept emotionally over the dead body of his son… that was sooo moving. I cry every time I watch it. 😢😭
I also first watched Jesus Nazareth, when I was child.
Jonathan Roumie is my favorite Jesus ❤️🙏 he plays the human side of jesus, i love The Chosen .
If you've hung out with Jewish people there's no doubt that Jonathan Roomie has the most Jewishness about him. The interaction with people, the sense of humor, the earthiness. A breath of fresh air.
Yes l agree with you
Robert Powell!!!!!! Robert Powell!!!!!! Robert Powell!!!!
Modern Jews who are the descendants of converted non-Semitic tribes have nothing in common with the ancient Israelites or the modern Semitic people in the Levant.
@@SKMikeMurphySJ Absolutely. Powell became Jesus. If you go to many Christian countries in Africa, South America or Asia. You'll see people putting stickers of Robert Powell's Jesus of Nazareth on the windows of their taxis, in the back of their rickshaws or other vehicles. His portrayal was celestial.
Jonathan Roomie. His placid humility, love and devotion to his own spiritual beliefs gives him authenticity.
For me, it's Caviezel. The sets, the Aramaic. The acting. That's my best.
I would have preferred the movie the passion in english.
Yes definitely Jim Caviezel .God Bless him.🙏🙏
For me 💯 per cent its Caviezel
@@virginiaquiroga6631 Jesus did not speak English. No one did in His time. All the movies should be accurate.
@@virginiaquiroga6631 No. It was great in Aramaic and Latin. I had Latin in high school but forgot it. Nonetheless, I understood more than the Aramaic. The Aramaic is what drew me to the film, as I heard it was terribly violent. But seeing it, it threw you into another dimension. It was terribly moving. Also Jim Caviezel was the spitting image of my first love.
Jonathan's beautiful faith in our Lord shines through him. That's what places him in the number one spot for me.
Jim Caviezel aside for being a good actor play the role of Jesus Christ
his Testimony and his strong faith that makes him the best,
Other than that every actor who play the role as Jesus is truly blessed❤🙏
I am a born again Christian, Robert Powell as Jesus was just spectacular I felt the Holy spirit move in me, it was so real and very special. I have seen many other actors play Jesus but did not get the feelings I got from Robert Powell. I truly believe God Used him to convert and bring the Lord to life in Christians ✝️
Look up Orthodoxy and do research. Come to the mother church, the original unchanged church founded by Christ.
Robert Powell a fost, este, și va fi cel mai bun actor!

Agreed. Watching Robert Powell as Jesus moved me in a way I can’t even put into words.
Powell gives me goosebumps in several scenes. no other portrayal has ever left lasting memories with me like him.
…and its a 1977 movie. Imagine the technology then compared to today; Passion of Christ. POC showed how Jesus suffered, but JON still #1 to me.
Agreed.
Agreed💯💯💯💯
No doubt: Jesus os Nazareth and The Passion of Christ are both VERY powerful and intense. The Best.
@@leonardohummel8658 I wish they could make JON in 4K
Everyone has a favorite, but NON made world wide impact, as Jim Caviezel! And that's a hands down!!! Until this day there is not one person that was not moved in some way interiorly by this portrayal of Jesus! James is the man!
Don Minutella talks about Pachamama and Bergoglio

Jim c.
Jonathan r. Is also good. Jim and Jonathan are both good. Seems deeply spiritual..
I agree 100 %!
I think Jim Caviezel has portrayed the best Jesus, to date, and I don't think he could ever be topped!
Though I do think Jonathan Rummey played a good Jesus in "The Chosen"
I think people are connecting with Jonathan more because he put himself out into the public more then Jim C....and people built a relationship with him.
I also think the script between The Passion and The Chosen are very different.
The Passion is painfully serious...and The Chosen is light hearted.
Both are beautifully practicing their faith.
Well, years ago I went to a Christmas play. A boy came up to me and ask if he was a good actor. I said, "yes, you were the best actor playing Jesus EVER." He walked away so proud and happy. Our lives change daily we grow spiritual daily, we live and grow in Jesus word. Id say that young man age 9 sure changed me. God Bless all our actors who play Jesus Christ our saviour
Love me some Caviezel, but Roumie is the absolute best. The entire cast of The Chosen is superb.
Definitely Jim Cavaziel. This is what I imagine the real Christ would be. He was gentle but firm. He stood for everything the Father sent him to do. It was one of the most heartbreaking, real showing of what Christ had to suffer for all of us. Thank you Jesus.
Agreed! Jim Caviezel was the best.
Nothing but the best '' JIM CAVAZIEL "😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Blind patient - forgiven
Did any of you ever watch Jesus of Nazareth??? It showed his whole life.
Jim Caviezel and when you hear what he went through when making the film you know why it was so moving And also he loves Jesus so much it comes across. Never will there be a film like that about Jesus again 🙏❤️
I don't know how many people realize this but Robert Powell in "Jesus Of Nazareth" never blinked in that whole movie, it's truly mind-blowing!
He realy stands out.
+JMJ+
Yes! Robert Powell was truly amazing. Franco Zeffirelli’s JESUS of Nazareth was and is a brilliant screenplay. My favorite scene was with Earnest Borgnine as the Roman soldier asking CHRIST to heal the servant. That Roman soldier has everything to lose. His faith, though a pagan, was so strong!
From reading the Bible, I think though the other actors are good too, Robert Powell comes closest to playing who Jesus really was. You can see it in the scene when he was staring at Peter, it was like he was seeing into the future, and loved Peter. That was an incredible thing to do with just a look without saying a word. He must have studied Jesus very closely from reading.
@@evaeves8569 Two different movies about two different parts of Christ's life! “Jesus Of Nazareth” is about his birth, life, ministry, death & resurrection, and teachings! “The Passion Of The Christ” is strictly about the crucifixion and is the most accurate account of what Christ went through for our sins, Period.

Robert gentlemen. His name is Robert Powell. In my humble opinion, the best portrayal of Jesus that really hits home. For being a comedian, this man is truly amazing!

Robert Powell; I grew up with a tradition of watching Jesus of Nazareth each and every year during Holy Week. This was in the 80s and 90s. He gives the best portrayal IMO. Brought me to tears as a teenager and it still does, over 20 years later.
For me Robert Powell as Jesus of Nazareth will always be the most meaningful for me. I saw it as a child when it came out and it was the first time I felt I understood the life of Jesus and what he gave to the world. I will never forget it. This series had the most top notch cast I have ever seen put together. Olivia Hussey as Mary, Ian McShane as Judas, Michael York as John the Baptist, Peter Ustinov, Christopher Plummer, James Mason, Anne Bancroft...I mean the list goes on and on.
Franco Zefferelli....knew what he was doing getting Robert Powell....because he IS Jesus!! I hung on every word....Brilliant!!!
Too right!
I watch Jesus of Nazareth every Easter and every time Mary cries when he is brought down from the cross makes me sob my heart out. The Passion of the Christ makes me cry when Mary runs to him, when he falls carrying the cross. Robert Powell will always be my favourite. He looked beautiful. I do love The Chosen, Jonathan is great in it. They are all in my top three, but Robert Powell made me want to go to Sunday School when I was a child watching it
teensymom1420 Robert Powell as Jesus of Nazareth was the best in my opinion. Jim Cavezal was a close second.
Ian Cussack was to me the best.
ROBERT POWELL was supernatural....something you can't explain!!!
You should've played the clip with Jesus and Nicodemus from THE CHOSEN
I agree. That was one of the best scenes. I cried like a baby.
Robert Powell, Jesus of Nazareth, all the way. The intensity of his eyes, the calmness of his voice, the way he embodied Christ, was AMAZING. Just finished listening to it (can't watch, at work 😁), now I will probably start Ben-Hur then Quo Vadis. Last year I watched them backwards. 🤣 Happy Easter! ✝
Robert Powell....his eyes are captivating adding depth to the character.
Jesus had brown eyes, not blue eyes.
He has beautiful eyes.
@@KatrinaJoseph God can have any color of eyes he chooses!

Having seen all the movies mentioned including all 3 seasons of The Chosen, twice, I have to say without a doubt Jonathan Roumie! Something about when he laughs is the epitome of how I see Jesus in His better times. There is a picture of Jesus with his head slightly back and in a full belly laugh! That’s how I want to see my Jesus! And I know He’s in Heaven with the Father and Holy Ghost smiling and laughing when another soul is truly saved!
Jim Caviezel made me cry deep down in my gut. I will always hold the "The Passion" forever in my heart ✝️
Jim Caviezel, hands down, the BEST 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Facts
Agree! 🙏
I agree 💯
Robert Powell no doubt about it!!!
Jim Cavieziel's is the one who had the holy spirit guide him, his mannerism what Jesus is like, humble, kind, love. All the actor's did a great job at playing Jesus, Jim Cavieziel's made me feel the holy spirit though 💞
Jonathan Roumie of the Chosen, is the very best portrayal of Jesus ever. He is so authentic. Its in his eyes. He pulls you into the story with him. I love him in this role. Best Ever. Hands down. ❤❤❤
Jim Caviezel hands down not even close. The scene of him working and splashing water on His Mother such humanity. His divinity shown clearly portrayed when he encounters His Mother on the way of the cross. His acting on the cross was real pain. The aramaic and the fact that He is a believer really makes Him an alter christe. idk how anyone can disagree
I agree. No one did a better job than Jim Caviezel. Everything about his performance was spot on. I think Jim’s real life faith and prayer life played a huge role in making his performance so real and so moving.
Robert Powell, he has captured the divinity of Christ so magnificently that it held me and the people in awe, baptizing them in the Holy Spirit. Transporting us to the very Throne room of Grace in Eternity.
" No one ever spoke like this man."
Jim Caviezel portrayed the deep emotional and unconditional passionate love Jesus has for us and the absolute beauty of the Virgin Mary in her pure devotion for our Saviour.
That happened to me when Jesus was on cross.
He really makes me pray deeply and heartily. So very expressive with that deep look in his eyes. Even if he doesnt utter a word his face speaks volumes
@@marydebattista9274 who?
its Jesus of Nazareth is a 1977 British-Italian television miniseries directed by Franco Zeffirelli iv seen them all this is the best ROBERT POWELL
Jim Caviezel, in Passion made me feel the presence of God, it made me sooo emotional 🙏🙏✝️
I have lost count of how many times I have watched Jesus of Nazareth. Robert Powell's portrayal has touched many lives. I love when he's teaching and it seems like he's so caught up in thoughts of God that he has to pause. Like he is being swept up with the beauty of what he's saying. He doesn't just portray Jesus as a teacher, but as a teacher inspired by God. The worlds that the movies Jesus of Nazareth and Passion of the Christ were filmed in are so different. In the 1970s the suffering of Christ was more familiar to the average person. It didn't have to be dramatized so graphically because most people knew the story. In the 2000s it was less widely known to the average person so the brutal depiction in the Passion was maybe necessary. It was very hard for people who had been Christians for decades to watch the Passion because Christ's suffering was so personally felt. Kudos to Mel Gibson and Jim Cavieziel. They brought the spotlight to Jesus' life when the world needed to be reminded. But I won't be watching it again and again like Jesus of Nazareth.
Jim Caviezel hands down !!!’ 💯❤️
Robert Powell, yes! Agreed 👍
All those who portrayed Jesus were exceptional. I lean towards Jonathan Roumie in The Chosen only because his divine personality succeeds in reaching out to a broader audience of Christians and non-Christians alike. The love of Jesus continues to be inclusive of all of us.
All have been awesome!!! But Jonathan Roumie is ground breaking, relatable, and will never be forgotten. AND believable looking from that region of the world. It’s all in his eyes ❤
I've seen Powell's and Caviezel's movies and both made an impact to the viewers in different ways.
They both portrayed the life of Jesus excellently. Although we really don't know Jesus' real image, their portrayal were very convincing.
I felt God's loving voice in Powell's delivery, as if God is saying i am with you always, I'm holding your hand every moment of every day. Don't be afraid.
@Alex Derek no
Jonathan Roumie, bestJesus ,I wept during every season so much compassion in his acting❤
Jonathan Roumie’s portrayal is the absolute best ever! He portrays his divine side and his human side perfectly!
I agree, he made Jesus more human
Jonathon Rumie's performance/interpretation of Jesus brings a humanity I have never seen before. He embodies The Fruits of The Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control). He also brings a sense of humor! He doesn't come across like a statue or a painting, but as a person. He's definitely my favorite.
I 💯 think Jonathan is the best ever! THE CHOSEN
I totally agree… Jonathan portrays Jesus with such humanity, understanding, compassion and love…Just the way you think Jesus was to bring The Word of God to His flock. Speaking with words, eyes, actions and some humor to make himself more relatable as human to humans…like He’s really one of His followers so they really listen. Love The Chosen❤️🙏🏻
Do give a big 👍 for Jim Caviezel portrayal as 2nd in performance.

Yes you really have good insight on this topic. Thanks for your response as it gave me more to ponder upon. God is gentle and understanding to a point but when things need more depth and strength, He is there too. He is God and all things. Thanks for having me think 🤔 if all sides to Him and it’s all for His children. He is truly our Father. 🙏🏻
Amen to that...
yes but Jesus is 100% man and 100% God
Jim Caviezel in the Passion changed my life
I couldn't even watch the Caviezel film. From the moment he stomped on the snakes head, he lost me. What kind of steroid macho Jesus was he trying to play. It was pathetic...he should have told Gibson....I'm not doing that, Mel. That is not the Jesus I know. I know Gibson's sick personality was written all over that scene, but Caviezel obviously had no problem playing the role Gibson wanted...so how faithful can he be?
Jonathan Roumie is the best portray of Jesus/ Yeshua for me ..is exactly as i have always seen him- know him..human & divine both 😊
love this clip of Jonathan Roumie, best portrayal of "human and divine"! also Jesus came as a Jew and altho' we really don't have an actual image, Jonathan Roumie has the "look"! one more thing, Jonathan's walk w/the Lord for sure comes through. he's authentic!
I'd have to say that the Passion of the Christ, was the best, most realistic, film I've ever seen, a every one that has been filmed, breaks my heart, I know what's coming, but I can't help but to shed tears. That part in the film, where they are whipping Jesus, and he goes to his knees, but then, struggles and stands back up, and the Roman that is beating him, switches whips, to the one with metal barbs, breaks my heart every time, it's like Jesus hasn't suffered enough, to pay for everyone's sins, and the barbs rip the flesh from his ribs, I just wanted to yell, " Stop it, he's suffered enough!!! " All of them are great, but Passion of the Christ, was the most realistic film I've ever seen.
D' accordo in assoluto!
Jim Caviezel. The suffering he went through, was unimaginable, especially with the whip that tore his flesh. This is how I believe Jesus suffered, for the World. I have seen, there will be a Passion of the Christ 2. Great Acting.
Jesus most likely suffered way worse than what was shown in the movie the passion of the christ.
Johnathan Roumie is the very best I have ever seen . I have watching all 72 years of my life .He is so emotionally connected in every scene that I feel emotionally connected.
For me Robert Powell. His delivery was powerful. No other actor portrayed such God like intensity in his eyes.
The Jesus in The Chosen really touched my heart the most as he displays so much love, gentleness, relatability and simplicity and he is just so lovable… when u watch him you just gotta love him…gitta love Jesus
I agree with you 100%
Jonathan Roumie has depicted Jesus in such a way where u can feel like Jesus is so relatable. He would be my favorite!
But that's just it. He's too contemporary.
@@taroman7100 I've watched The Chosen and I think that this show is trying to do something that no other movie or series about Jesus Life Ministry has done; and that is to not to show Christ's Divinity but also show the humanity as well because Jesus was both God and man
Well said!
People who portrayal Jesus and downplay his divine nature are not to be praised but criticized imo
I like Roumie’s performance of the humanity of Jesus. He did laugh, he did dance. He’s a good intro to the real Jesus. I think people want to find out more after seeing him.
"A certain man had two sons..." If I HAD to choose, it would be Robert Powell. They covered so much ground, had so many great moments that there is just no way that anything else can top it. But Jim Caviezel's The Passion of the Christ comes a very, very close second. How I loved the moment he spoke to Pontius Pilate about Truth. I still watch that scene from time to time. "All men who hear the Truth hear My Voice." And the languages, hearing them speak in Aramaic and Latin. Amazing movie!
Caviezel played Jesus in full Aramaic. Can't do better than that!
I never cried so much in a movie. Jim Cavaziel, there is no doubt. He suffered more than anyone I have ever heard of during that movie.
Jim Cavaziel has grey/blue eyes but he wore contacts to make them brown in the movie, which I don't think he should've done,
@@jiop538 ohhh so that’s why his brown eyes in the movie looks a little to bright to be brown if you know what i mean
And afterwards because he was cancelled from all Hollywood and any showbusiness. He had to leave his actor profession and find another profession.
Jim Cavaziel not only played the Best for the part but experienced and nearly lost his life by being struck by lightning the last day of the set and dislocated his shoulders and felt Jesus presence.
Jim Cavaziel. Exquisite. And the speaking Aramaic is impressive. He ,for me was the full embodiment of what I would imagine Christ to be. So beautiful ,in a nonsexual way. More than acting.
Johnathan Roumie hands down. He is full of compassion and you can see his emotions in his eyes rather its pain sorrow or joy. Very relatable. It's like his emotions are alive and you feel them right along with him.
Caveizel , then Roumie, just based on Aramaic and the realism of the torture
Jonathan Roomie as Jesus delivering sermon on the Mount reduced me to tears. I could feel the Holy Spirit testifying the truth of the gospel.
I once read that they tried to portray Robert Powell not blinking as much as possible, to give him that divine appearance
Robert’s portrayal has stuck with me all of my life. Jim Caviezel’s portrayal was one of the most awe inspiring performances on cinematic screen. I know so many people who say they found that it made for uncomfortable viewing and yes! I have to agree and say it did! But I feel that Mel did it to show the reality of how our lord suffered for the sake of our very souls. Sometimes we have to be given that nudge to remind us of his greatest sacrifice. 🙏
Just watching Robert Powell saying the words of the Sermon on the Mount bring tears to my eyes. It feels as if he is incarnating Jesus himself and one can see it in his eyes. Just beautiful. By the way, Jesus was, is, and forever will be Divine. He is our Divine Master who brings hope and joy to all, even to those who reject him.
I know exactly what you mean by saying that it feels like he is incarnating Jesus. Not literally, of course, but it's like Jesus said here.. I'll show you Myself through this actor.
He had an experience when doing it
@patttrick Can you tell us more about what the experience was if you know some specifics? I'd be very interested.
He doesn't say
@patttrick Oh okay. Where did you read about the fact that he had an experience? I'd like to at least look it up.
Jim Caveziel for me. Honorable mention to Jonathan Roumie, I like his familiarity. Great show guys. Thankyou 🇦🇺
I was child when I first saw "Jesus of Nazareth" with Robert Powell, I was cry, so so realistic...I been watching since then many times and I still cry. His voice, he looks, warm , calming effect is wow ..for me Robert Powell
For Robert Powell, the Beatitudes speech was breathy and divine (that was later on in the movie though and that was when he performed the feeding the masses miracle, wasn't it) but the other speeches in Jesus of Nazareth he was speaking as a normal man, especially when he was telling the children the Two Sons parable. Robert Powell did the best by far!!!
For me Jim Caviezel portrayed the best Jesus coz of the passion and effort he showed not only the acting but the language as well. And for me the scenes from the passion of the Christ is the closest to what the Bible says. God bless everyone. 🙏
Robert Powell!!!!!! Robert Powell!!!!!! Robert Powell!!!! 2nd Jim Caviezel
Have you watched the chosen at all? I absolutely loved Jim Caviezel, but and if you loved Jim Caviezel, he would love Jonathan Roumie as Jesus 100 times more.
@@user-le8py8br9x not yet i will thank you for this info 😊
@@user-le8py8br9xnot everyone needs a funny guy Jesus and Jonathan delivers his lines okay but nothing like Robert or Jim
Jesus of Nazareth for me when I was in about 7th grade…I got mono that year, so had to be at home for about 2 wks..had a ton of
time on my hands…so I watched it. I adored it. I was so totally moved. I would watch it as many of following years as I could. Really made me the strong Catholic that I am today. Yes..it’s his eyes!! His gaze for sure! Unreal
I especially liked the little boy that portrayed jesus as a child. Those beautiful blue eyes took my breath away. Talking about jesus of nazareth movie.
Jesus of Nazareth is a great movie. The actor who played John the Baptist is also amazing in that film. When I watch the The Passion, I never see Jim Caviezel, I only see Jesus. If I’m not mistaken I believe Jim even said that he spent time everyday in Adoration and asked Jesus that when people see the film that they would only see Him.
One of the reason I like Robert Powell's version is because almost every scene you looked forward to the way the actor presented Jesus' words. For example, the way he presented the parable of the prodigal was amazing and touching.
Robert Powell ruined his acting career by portraying Jesus so well. But it is the most important deed he has done in his life, and has touched so many souls, including mine, when I was 18 years old, and tempted to follow the world. He made me choose God-Jesus, by God’s grace through him. God used him.
I was 7 and it ultimately always made in impact in my young life. I am now looking forward to meeting the true Jesus, King of Kings and Lord of All.❤
I think Robert Powell was the closest in appearance to the image of Jesus in the Shroud of Turin and the Roman historical documents of the days of Jesus. His delivery is otherworldly as is his appearance in his portrayal of Jesus of Nazareth. I also loved Jim Caviezel in The Passion of The Christ.
Unfair that happened, though.
You couldn't have said that any better. Robert Powell's portrayal of Jesus has stuck with me all these years, and I am so thankful to the Lord for using him to portray such a beautiful image of Himself to us.
Robert Powell the best!
Jim Caviezel 💯%. He was the only person that did it in Aramaic. ❤
Jim Caviezel for me 🙏🏻🕊️♥️
Robert Powel for me was the best portrail of Jesus I am always exited every year after good Friday Mass and eating at Garcia's to watch it the music is great and the actors fit there role perfectly I always start to cry when Jesus predicts the passion and when he is on the cross
Definitely Robert Powell... very convincing acting.... his words were so convincing when speaking.... very passionate....
Robert Powell in Jesus of Nazareth is the best portrayal of Jesus for me.. His eyes and voice give me goosebumps in several scenes. My all time favorite and still makes me cry everytime I watch it..
The part where he sees the Temple being used for "profit of business deals" made me cry to see how angry he was and to see his tenderness over the children that sat on his lap. One more part that I loved, "when a good General of the Roman Army, "came to him to ask him, "please help my servant who is more like a son and is gravely ill" he asked Jesus of Nazareth to tell him that all will be alright. Jesus Christ looked at him and said, "I could come with you? He this good General and Samaritan said, "I know, as a general I say "do this to others and they will do it, as sure as you tell me that you will do it and my servant will be cured." Jesus Christ turned to his disciple and expressed "awe" of this man because" the man had "FAITH" in Jesus Christ. Jesus turned to his apostles and said, "do you see the FAITH of this man?" He believes when I say, "go home and your servant will be fine." The general and good Samaritan went to his friends and learned his servant was alive and well." He looked back at Jesus and was stunned by the miracle that was presented to him by Jesus. I loved this part more than I can say because Jesus claim he has more faith by just hearing Jesus say, "Go home and you'll find your serve alive and well." Loved it.
As I recall he had an English accent so that was weird to me,
When a badly beaten Jesus appears before Pilate wearing the crown of thorns, you can see the fear on Rod Steiger's face. That scene is eerie.
@@homegown1234yeah this is what I saying in my comment too, this is what i say about powell portraying JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH..
Robert Powell played an authentic Jesus and you can really imagine and feel the soul of Jesus in his performance
Beside passion of CHRIST. I REALLY think Actor Diogo Morgado played an amazing role of our lord Jesus in 2014 SON of GOD
I agree about Robert Powell 👍❤️
Jim C. Hands down..i Respect that man
I can well remember Robert Powell playing Jesus and it was on every Sunday evening here in England. To me, he looked exactly how I envisioned Jesus would look. I loved it, but I also remember thinking in later years, it glamorised Jesus’s passion and death. I can remember praying on it and voicing that this version didn’t encompass just how much Jesus had suffered and that we needed a version which did. Then low and behold, along came Jim. I’m English, but to me Jim has this hands down and that’s not taking anything away from those who came before him. 🙏🏻
Love Robert Powell's portrait of Our Lord and his Life and Death.❤
The masses have spoken. There is nothing such as too divine. Robert Powell hands down nailed it, he epitomizes Jesus in every way. Jim Caviezel did a great job but if you have watched the 1977 version, Robert nailed the portrayal of Jesus. A fun fact is he intentionally tried not to blink during his part. I think it was a mini series. Also his demeanour was perfect.
Yes, he intentionally did not blink. I wish he would have because that would have played more into his human side and I wouldn't be so distracted seeing how long he could go without "humanly" blinking.
Jonathan Roomie in the first season, first episode, when he calls Mary of Magdalen by name brought tears to my eyes!!!! I felt our Lord was calling me!
Jim Caviezel is the best Jesus, hands down.
Robert Powell the best the crucifixion scene gives me the chills and when Mary received the body emotional Jesus of Nazareth
ROBERT POWELL ...i actually cried watching jesus of nazareth :.( and they have his portrait in churches actually is how close robert powell portrayed jesus .... he went to a church in brazil and they had HIS movie portrait up and some of the kids actually though jesus returned :D it was so awesome
Robert Powell was a spitting image of what we perceived as Jesus.
Robert Powell and Jim Caviezel both did a very great job of portraiting Jesus indeed!.
Don't sleep on Jeffrey Hunter bro.
Bit late to the party. But for me Jim Caviezel has a great balance in mannerisms but also in regard to his expression in his eyes. From the scene where he's looking at the carpenter, he has a look as if he's looking into the man's soul, following that shot it takes the viewer into the scene where he's building the table and the look in his eyes when he's talking / interacting with Mary shows a great fondness towards Mary. You can pick any scene and Jim Caviezel has everything including the eyes spot on.
Some of the other actors had a certain look that's more associated with PTSD and disassociation.
Another point I'm glad was touched on is how it was done in Aramaic, this made other scenes like the crucifixion that much more impact, everytime I see the part where he's being nailed to the cross after his shoulder was dislocated and he says "Father, forgive them" I always cry.
Robert Powell hands down the most supernatural portrayal of Jesus, gives me shivers every time!!
My movie Jesus: The Passion of the Christ and Jim Caviezel did an amazing job in the presentation including the language. The physical abuse displayed that Jesus underwent for me breaks me every time!
My Everyday Jesus:
But as far as the most authentic looking and sounding Jesus - and relatable Jesus, it's Jonathan Roumie hands down.
Probably because the series can show more detail in how he possibly related to the people of the day. But the Chosen series also is able to show the everyday lives of His followers that we can relate to, and how Jesus makes a difference, shows us that He can make a difference in our lives, too.
Jonathan Roumie gives a beautiful, rounded depiction of the divinity and human nature of our Lord. The compassion, mercy, love, and authority is palpable. The humor, laughing, sadness and openness is relatable. That's what has made The Chosen a world-wide phenomenon. People bent on suicide have changed their minds. People have been born again/ saved, and dedicated Christians (like myself) have found a new love and appreciation for our Living Lord and the Scripture!
Robert Powell hands down!!! Made the most impact on me. I first saw the film when I was fourteen years old and it blew me away!!!!!!! You should watch the whole movie.
Robert Powel is one I've never forget, gosh his eyes is perfect!
YEAH THEY'RE BLUE , JUST LIKE YOUR FANTASY WHITE JESUS 🤔
Robert Powell looks like the Jesus that's pictured in our family Bible that I used to read with my Grandmother. When I first saw Jesus of Nazareth as a kid, it took my breath away because he looks like Jesus in the Bible. Even to this day, when I see him, it just moves me and touches my heart. I can't even put it in words.
