Mythologically we know he slept with Circe and cheated on Penelope with Circe. Whether he was coherced or whether after years of fighting he needed some release, he still screwed Circe in the myth with some form of consent. With Calypso, he didn't really have a choice in the matter being stuck with this Witch Goddess for years and only with divine interference was he allowed to leave.
That means there are males sirens in the agean, since there is no way the odyssey takes place less than 50 years before Alexander the Greats invasion of Greece and the achemenid empire.

I remember when i listened to the Troy saga for the first time, i was bummed there was no reference to Achilles (since he is like one of the protagonists in the Illiad/the prequel) just to realise i was dumb, and my brain didn't register that Neo, was the shortened down form of Neoptolemus... Achilles son, and that the "Neo, avenge your father (achilles), kill the brothers of Hector" was the tiny reference i wanted. I felt so dumb when i realised 💀💀

Jorge explained it all in a short preview of an animatic, Odysseus chose a cyclops because its the strongest monster he knows well, he understands its weakness and strengths, Jorge even explained how Odysseus would only give it a club when Circe's monster goes all in
14:24 what I LOVE about this moment specifically is that as Athena praises Odysseus's virtues, talking about him as a warrior "of the mind" who's supposedly detached from emotional bonds when it comes to making choices, is that the artist decided to draw Odysseus saving Polites's life. Sure Athena could see it as a mere heroic action to take down the creature as fast as possible and limit the number of casualties, but here Polites doesn't even have a weapon. Athena would have never interested herself with the likes of Polites who isn't prepared to face threats, unlike Odysseus who chooses to save him instead of just letting him die to occupy the monster while he kills him (a purely strategic choice). Odysseus saw poor, defenseless Polites, his friend, facing a ruthless animal, and his immediate instinct was to jump in to save him. So in the end, Athena has fooled herself into believing her own version of who Odysseus was at the time. The Odysseus after the war and before his travel to the Underworld will never not yell his name at Polyphemus to honor the memory of his estimeed dead comrades.
Im honestly so exited for the Wisdom Saga. Telemachus with legendary, Calypso with love in paradise, and God games? That would just depend on everything, we already got 2 sagas this year and 2 reworks, if there is a 3rd saga this year, the Epic cast and crew is going wild with saga releases, but I predict the next saga will come out early/mid 2025
@@Bloodstone32 While possible, we’ve had 2 month gaps for the last 4 saga’s. December, February, April, and June. April was on the 26th thus the leaking into another month + Independance day. I think all saga’s will be released by the end of 2025, seeing the release schedule.

I don't think you understand how much that "43 men left..." vs "558 men..." had me going insane trying to find that 1 extra death. This intermission has saved my soul.
@G973_ I hope I'm not over explaining this. Sorry if I am. We start with 600 men. In Ruthlessness, Posidon says he's left 43 men in Odysseus's command. In the Underworld, there are "558 men, who died under your command" 600-558=42, not 43, so between Ruthlessness and the Underworld, there was one extra death. The intermission pointed out that at Circe's palace, one man was so happy not to be a pig anymore that he got drunk, climbed onto her roof, fell off her roof, and died. Leaving 42 men left and 558 dead.
For real, the prophet is actually right, "Song of past romance" might be referring to Oddyseus' love with Penelope before or even might be the final song "Would you fall in love with me again?"(Or just I'm being crazy) "Sacrifice of man" can be referring to Polites or even Oddyseus' choice to sacrifice 6 men in Scylla. "Portrayal of betrayal" refers to Eurylochus betray Oddyseus and open the wind bag and might be referring to the song Mutiny. "Brother final stand" is the death of Eurylochus as Oddyseus refers to him as his brother in Luck runs out. "Your palace covered in red" cause Oddyseus to think his palace will be covered in red decoration by the suitors to marry Penelope(or just me being crazy and insane thinking that marriage in the past wear red clothes like in my country back in the days) when the palace is actually covered in the blood of the suitors. "Faces of men who have long believed you're dead." is 99.9999999999% referring to the suitors. "I see you on a brink of death." refers to when Zeus sinks the Oddyseus' ship, leaving only Oddyseus alive stranded onto Calypso's island, and she said,"I swore that you were dead." The "I see you draw your final breath." might be referring to Oddyseus' philpsophy of Open arm from Polites "died" and adopted Poseidon's Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves philosophy. I think Oddyseus thought that his palace was in red decoration for Penelope's marriage with another man cause they believed he's dead and Oddyseus will die before getting back to his home. That's why he asked "WHO?" Edit: Wait, "I see past and future running by", so if those I said was right, all of the lyrics before "I see your palace covered in red" are all related with both past events and future events, and the after are all future events.
I like to think that the song of past romance is Achilles and Patrocules who dragged out the war for 10 years by refusing to kill Hector, and kicking off the whole problem.
Pretty sure song of past romance is the siren song, sacrifice of man is the 6 men to Scylla, portrayal of betrayal and brothers final stand have to do with mutiny. Everything else sounds about right and the “red” is most definitely blood. I’ve also heard theories where all of his lines correspond with a past and future event because he sees both past and future.

Full Speed Ahead, I adore Polites' looks. He is so excited, and then he looks at Odyssesus fondly, and when Odyssesus gives "I see fire but there's no smoke" Polites looks so worried like "no, it's okay Odyssesus" followed by the sheer like anger he feels at Eurylochus.

Good detail in Open Arms: Odyssesus loses his sword but Polites still has his when the "welcome" happens, and when Odyssesus is holding the sword, Polites' sheath is empty.

I know what I’ll feel when I’ll hear them all. so I just want to leave it here so you can realize one more time how much effort Jorge put into this project and appreciate his work more and more everyday. At first I didn’t realize but at 1:35:51 Athena turns into a partial owl cause that’s what her symbol is but she also has snake which represents Medusa which Medusa is said to be Athena Priestess that Athena protected by turning Medusa into what Medusa is now( I believe that Medusa is VERY beautiful)

After re-watching this I have now developed a head canon about the cyclops, that they're really emotional and that they are really light drinkers since wine is probably a really rare item they've never really had so because Polyphemus had never had wine let alone a full bottle as he sounded so surprised when Odysseus said wine, so he got drunk and mad so he resorted to try and kill Odysseus and his crew and only sobered up when he was stabbed In the eye so he forgot what happened and thought "nobody" harmed him for no reason

No I agree with you. The voices sound more like dialogue now which is kind of jarring because the older songs felt better with voices and music matching up.

completely agree, i like the vocal performances better in the originals. now there are elements in the revamped versions i like. but overall they sound out of place and disconnected, and a bit lacking in some places of the performances. makes you really hate that company for doing what they did to jay. he probably couldn't make the new songs sound the same as the originals because of legal stuff. makes me feel kinda bad for not liking the new versions as much.

Well actually, Odysseus might be something of a demigod, think about it, what human could stay up for 9 days? Hermes is Odysseus' great grandfather might be more greats but nevertheless. The amount of times I have watched this (and cried in) this animatic is wild! Such a good bit of story (we love our man Jorge's work :D) and thank you for putting it all together! In Puppeteer: Eurylochus asks Odyssesus to cut their losses and run, but Odyssesus literally can't win in this argument. If he cuts his losses, Eurylochus can later say that Odyssesus didn't fight hard enough to protect his crew, but if Odyssesus does go save his men, then later Eurylochus can be like "well, why didn't you save these men?" for any deaths after. Literally Odyssesus has no good options, but he still tries to do right by his crew, as much as he can.

Whether he was coherced or whether after years of fighting he needed some release, he still screwed Circe in the myth with some form of consent. With Calypso, he didn't really have a choice in the matter being stuck with this Witch Goddess for years and only with divine interference was he allowed to leave.

I remember when i listened to the Troy saga for the first time, i was bummed there was no reference to Achilles (since he is like one of the protagonists in the Illiad/the prequel) just to realise i was dumb, and my brain didn't register that Neo, was the shortened down form of Neoptolemus... Achilles son, and that the "Neo, avenge your father (achilles), kill the brothers of Hector" was the tiny reference i wanted. I felt so dumb when i realised 💀💀

14:24 what I LOVE about this moment specifically is that as Athena praises Odysseus's virtues, talking about him as a warrior "of the mind" who's supposedly detached from emotional bonds when it comes to making choices, is that the artist decided to draw Odysseus saving Polites's life.
Sure Athena could see it as a mere heroic action to take down the creature as fast as possible and limit the number of casualties, but here Polites doesn't even have a weapon. Athena would have never interested herself with the likes of Polites who isn't prepared to face threats, unlike Odysseus who chooses to save him instead of just letting him die to occupy the monster while he kills him (a purely strategic choice). Odysseus saw poor, defenseless Polites, his friend, facing a ruthless animal, and his immediate instinct was to jump in to save him.
So in the end, Athena has fooled herself into believing her own version of who Odysseus was at the time. The Odysseus after the war and before his travel to the Underworld will never not yell his name at Polyphemus to honor the memory of his estimeed dead comrades.

@G973_ I hope I'm not over explaining this. Sorry if I am. We start with 600 men. In Ruthlessness, Posidon says he's left 43 men in Odysseus's command. In the Underworld, there are "558 men, who died under your command" 600-558=42, not 43, so between Ruthlessness and the Underworld, there was one extra death. The intermission pointed out that at Circe's palace, one man was so happy not to be a pig anymore that he got drunk, climbed onto her roof, fell off her roof, and died. Leaving 42 men left and 558 dead.

For real, the prophet is actually right, "Song of past romance" might be referring to Oddyseus' love with Penelope before or even might be the final song "Would you fall in love with me again?"(Or just I'm being crazy) "Sacrifice of man" can be referring to Polites or even Oddyseus' choice to sacrifice 6 men in Scylla. "Portrayal of betrayal" refers to Eurylochus betray Oddyseus and open the wind bag and might be referring to the song Mutiny. "Brother final stand" is the death of Eurylochus as Oddyseus refers to him as his brother in Luck runs out. "Your palace covered in red" cause Oddyseus to think his palace will be covered in red decoration by the suitors to marry Penelope(or just me being crazy and insane thinking that marriage in the past wear red clothes like in my country back in the days) when the palace is actually covered in the blood of the suitors. "Faces of men who have long believed you're dead." is 99.9999999999% referring to the suitors. "I see you on a brink of death." refers to when Zeus sinks the Oddyseus' ship, leaving only Oddyseus alive stranded onto Calypso's island, and she said,"I swore that you were dead." The "I see you draw your final breath." might be referring to Oddyseus' philpsophy of Open arm from Polites "died" and adopted Poseidon's Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves philosophy.
I think Oddyseus thought that his palace was in red decoration for Penelope's marriage with another man cause they believed he's dead and Oddyseus will die before getting back to his home. That's why he asked "WHO?"
Edit: Wait, "I see past and future running by", so if those I said was right, all of the lyrics before "I see your palace covered in red" are all related with both past events and future events, and the after are all future events.
I like to think that the song of past romance is Achilles and Patrocules who dragged out the war for 10 years by refusing to kill Hector, and kicking off the whole problem.
Pretty sure song of past romance is the siren song, sacrifice of man is the 6 men to Scylla, portrayal of betrayal and brothers final stand have to do with mutiny. Everything else sounds about right and the “red” is most definitely blood. I’ve also heard theories where all of his lines correspond with a past and future event because he sees both past and future.

Full Speed Ahead, I adore Polites' looks. He is so excited, and then he looks at Odyssesus fondly, and when Odyssesus gives "I see fire but there's no smoke" Polites looks so worried like "no, it's okay Odyssesus" followed by the sheer like anger he feels at Eurylochus.
Followed by Polites being happy that Odyssesus seems willing to try his angle.
In my analysis, Odysseus' encounter with the Cyclops can be seen not just as a physical battle but as a manifestation of his deep psychological and emotional fatigue. By this point in his journey, Odysseus has faced numerous trials, and training, each one stripping away layers of his resolve. The weight of his actions-especially the act of killing, which he has become all too accustomed to-has begun to wear on him.

After re-watching this I have now developed a head canon about the cyclops, that they're really emotional and that they are really light drinkers since wine is probably a really rare item they've never really had so because Polyphemus had never had wine let alone a full bottle as he sounded so surprised when Odysseus said wine, so he got drunk and mad so he resorted to try and kill Odysseus and his crew and only sobered up when he was stabbed In the eye so he forgot what happened and thought "nobody" harmed him for no reason

completely agree, i like the vocal performances better in the originals. now there are elements in the revamped versions i like. but overall they sound out of place and disconnected, and a bit lacking in some places of the performances. makes you really hate that company for doing what they did to jay. he probably couldn't make the new songs sound the same as the originals because of legal stuff. makes me feel kinda bad for not liking the new versions as much.
Yeah, I completely agree with ya'll. While the newer versions work better for the story, the older ones are better as standalone songs.

In Ancient Greece, it was standard to not give your name. Even someone just knowing your name could completely ruin your life or even end it.

In Puppeteer: Eurylochus asks Odyssesus to cut their losses and run, but Odyssesus literally can't win in this argument. If he cuts his losses, Eurylochus can later say that Odyssesus didn't fight hard enough to protect his crew, but if Odyssesus does go save his men, then later Eurylochus can be like "well, why didn't you save these men?" for any deaths after. Literally Odyssesus has no good options, but he still tries to do right by his crew, as much as he can.
When I see and hear the song with the suitors, "hold them down" all I think is the birthday person and it's just funny to see the normal version.
