That and more so because during all this nightmare of a quest Ulysses/Odysseus became kinda the world’s first atheist. He got tired of praying cruel gods(especially after Poseidon ) and kept thinking he got trough all of this thanks to his own wits and wisdom

So I wonder if Jorge's version will get to Odysseus's death, and if it does, how he dies.

Remember Them and Ruthlessness are gold. What I love about Epic is that it not only tells the story with great music, it provides a fresh perspective on the characters. Most people say that Odysseus telling his name to the cyclops was hubris or vanity, but the musical shows it was indignation. He was a king, and his men were warriors, but they'd just been treated like livestock. Odysseus was saying, we're men, we have names, and I'll make sure you don't forget. Foolish but just.
Theres also the aspect of guilt with it. His best friend was just killed, he wants this monster to suffer the rest of his life knowing that its because he dared to kill the men of Odysseus

Holy crap, I LOVE how when Odysseus says "It's just one life to take" it blinks to show the Infant! That's soo damn good! It shows how that action is having such a huge impact on his psyche and it explains why he refuses to kill Polyphemus. In the song of Athena confronting Ares she says that “his son is my friend” so I also believe that Athena is the friend that Telemachus is speaking about.
Wait but listen. He says "I don't know who this friend is or if he's worth the hype but my time with YOU's been splendid" which means he's talking to Athena. And afterwards he sings "it's time that you lend a hand, I don't think he'll mind, if not his friend then mine". So I take it Telemachus is talking about Odysseus in both cases. Maybe Athena said something about a "friend" that can help. Maybe Athena is conflicted about releasing Odysseus since she feels he won't accept her help. Idk that's my take because it doesn't make sense for Telemachus to say "idk who this friend is" and then turn around and go "my time with you's been splendid"
@@nottellingya9887 right, so from what i remember from the Odyssey, Athena hyped up Odysseus without mentioning his name. Because even though she wrote him off, he's still the greatest prospect she's ever had so she's still quite fond of him. Hence her keeping an eye on Telemachus and/or arriving when he prayed for help. Pretty sure she assumes he's just like his father, but he proves her wrong in all the right ways. So she drops in to help every now and then until Odysseus returns home--and even then, she helps with the suitors a bit (which may or may not happen in epic. We shall seeeeee!)
Man, there so many things that will be introduced once all these songs are finished, and i cant wait to see reactions from people unfamiliar with the original story of the Odyssey. Like, there are people who genuinely have no clue who else will be experienced through the suitors pov, and may not be able to guess from context clues, and their reactions will be great. Not only that, but based on a song he has decided to put after the suitors end makes me wonder if i even know who it is, or if he has an incredible M. Night Shamalien twist for me. (If its a twist, my guess is that the dog is immortal in this timeline and went for one the suitors most important possession.)

Agreed. Absolutely no insult insult intended both versions are very well done, but Horseidon is just so much more visceral.
To be honest, I still prefer more Gigi's Ruthlessness and I also love his design there, that doesn't mean that the other isn't awesome too and well done, but there are certain things that I loved in Gigi's Ruthlessness

What I love about Epic is that it not only tells the story with great music, it provides a fresh perspective on the characters. Most people say that Odysseus telling his name to the cyclops was hubris or vanity, but the musical shows it was indignation. He was a king, and his men were warriors, but they'd just been treated like livestock. Odysseus was saying, we're men, we have names, and I'll make sure you don't forget. Foolish but just.
Theres also the aspect of guilt with it. His best friend was just killed, he wants this monster to suffer the rest of his life knowing that its because he dared to kill the men of Odysseus

I don't know why but hermes' song seems to me like, in a stage musical or movie, he would break the fourth wall and have a discoball and coloured lights and dance like in those 70s movies kinda like the genie in aladdin does in his song
Troy definitely plays into that style with his Hermes portrayal, and there is an argument that can be made for the mythological Hermes to have time traveling abilities

Holy crap, I LOVE how when Odysseus says "It's just one life to take" it blinks to show the Infant! That's soo damn good! It shows how that action is having such a huge impact on his psyche and it explains why he refuses to kill Polyphemus. Whoever animated that did an awesome job and if this ever becomes a movie I hope something like this makes it into the official version!

In the song of Athena confronting Ares she says that “his son is my friend” so I also believe that Athena is the friend that Telemachus is speaking about.
Correct. In the original story, she disguises herself as an old man, i believe.
Wait but listen. He says "I don't know who this friend is or if he's worth the hype but my time with YOU's been splendid" which means he's talking to Athena. And afterwards he sings "it's time that you lend a hand, I don't think he'll mind, if not his friend then mine". So I take it Telemachus is talking about Odysseus in both cases. Maybe Athena said something about a "friend" that can help. Maybe Athena is conflicted about releasing Odysseus since she feels he won't accept her help. Idk that's my take because it doesn't make sense for Telemachus to say "idk who this friend is" and then turn around and go "my time with you's been splendid"
@@nottellingya9887 right, so from what i remember from the Odyssey, Athena hyped up Odysseus without mentioning his name. Because even though she wrote him off, he's still the greatest prospect she's ever had so she's still quite fond of him. Hence her keeping an eye on Telemachus and/or arriving when he prayed for help. Pretty sure she assumes he's just like his father, but he proves her wrong in all the right ways. So she drops in to help every now and then until Odysseus returns home--and even then, she helps with the suitors a bit (which may or may not happen in epic. We shall seeeeee!)

Man, there so many things that will be introduced once all these songs are finished, and i cant wait to see reactions from people unfamiliar with the original story of the Odyssey. Like, there are people who genuinely have no clue who else will be experienced through the suitors pov, and may not be able to guess from context clues, and their reactions will be great. Not only that, but based on a song he has decided to put after the suitors end makes me wonder if i even know who it is, or if he has an incredible M. Night Shamalien twist for me. (If its a twist, my guess is that the dog is immortal in this timeline and went for one the suitors most important possession.)

Seriously sobbing- ive been here since the first concept album on jays page was released its crazy how far hes come and its amazing to see this musical in a visual format, ive been puting aside money the last couple years to hopefully see this in person one day, all of the artists here are incredibly talented and if we ever get a animation they should definitely be on the project, all of the singers are phenomenal and jay has come so far- its crazy to see especially looking forward to the thunder and wisdom sagas (is that their offical name?
