Hi John. My son was in the airforce here in the US and the only time you could get close to the troops was by invitation. Our guards are protected and at the tomb of the unknown soldier if you speak when the change takes place or disrespect them they throw you out as it should be. Thank God you said this. I’m also from USA and if we behaved the way tourists behave here in London , we would be thrown out. Immediately. As citizens of USA we are not allowed anywhere near the horses or the soldiers or on the grounds where the military work. And our military is no where near as enriched with history as the English military. The English have a lot to protect and to keep sacred. I don’t understand why they are so at leisure with their military. Patting the horses? teasing the guards? Getting in their way? Oh my goodness.

I know it's been said repeatedly, but the horses seem so much more relaxed and comfortable with the no touching rule. Plus the tourons aren't constantly crowding the horse. Major improvement for everyone!

Good morning from California, USA. It’s great to see the kings horse guards enforcing the new “don’t touch the horse” rule. People will have more respect for the guards, their horses and the police when they are told NO if they go to touch the kings horses. Plus it seems less hectic with tourist once swarming the horses for pictures.
Thank you John for all you do. I know there are times that I get frustrated being in the US, at some things that really but me. Thank you for reminding me about being kind. I have so much respect for you, the guards, the horses, the troopers, the MOD officers. Of course there are my favorites. My thanks for all involved for the service that you all do! The Life Guards and the Blues and Royals for their military service. How brave they all are for even volunteering to do service to their King and Country. 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Mornin John!! I happen to love watching the soldiers in ceremonial uniform. I love history as I've gotten older and I've always liked the pomp and circumstance of the English military. I know I have Scottish ancestry, not sure if I have English yet, but it's in a way part of my story. We have nothing in the United States like this. I love my military, but we don't have this. I have great respect for your military, as I do mine. If any of them read this, Thank you for your dedication & service! ❤
The closest we have is the tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington with guards but you have to stay beyond the barriers and not get close to them. It’s also totally quiet there.

I love watching videos about England and Scotland, the country, outside of the big cities. See the countryside, it's beautiful over there. And it's nice when someone tells stories of things that happened in the past. I watched a video about the Pendle Witch trial yesterday. I like that kind of stories. Hello John 👋🏻 I would like to thank the lady who commented that it’s up to the trooper to allow touching or not. I apologize for being out of line with my comments. I loved this video. Guards are looking so prestigious in their uniforms today. Using their voice to keep things orderly. That lady guard is amazing. The horses are so calm. I hope it can stay like this.

I agree too that it is up to the trooper to decide if a horse can be petted or not even though it says don’t touch. For the most part this is a great rule. However there are a few horses that like to be petted,NOT MAULED, but petted easily & if the trooper thinks his horse is one of those I think it should be allowed. However if people see this & think it is OK to touch them it could cause a problem. I have one particular horse in mind (don’t know his/her name which makes it obvious that they like to be petted. If I can find out the name I will let you know who I mean. Such a sweet, friendly horse.

Even though apples are a good source of sustenance for the horses..there is no way of knowing if something dangerous was put into it. I would not allow a stranger to feed something to my horse, you just can't know it was safe. I wouldn't want my horse to get accustomed to accepting food from people I don't know. The protective grandma in me coming out lol.

I also think people see others feeding the horses on social media and then they bring apples for the horses. It becomes too much and it’s better to not allow it so there are less videos of horses being fed by tourists and and people don’t go through the trouble of bringing apples to Horse Guards at all. I’ve noticed more and more people have been bringing apples.

Oh gosh, I haven't been there in years. It is so fun. If they still offer the different events in the evening, they are well worth going to.
I am one of those that loses their temper and I apologize. I just can not handle the disrespect, not only for the horses, but also the guards. Even the officers get disrespected. I am just not used to it, it's not tolerated where I am from. The worst part is most of these tourists would not ever do this to their own military, they would be arrested or suffer other consequences. So it really gets you angry when you see them come to your country and take advantage of them. I just wish they would all get on the same page so they can work stress free.

Hi John. Got a good laugh when you were giving us the horse's thoughts on being neglected. I watched a CZcams series called 'Ancestry' for Alan Carr and Amanda Holden. They brought Amanda to Horse Guards. Her ancestor was a Life Guard for Queen Victoria. He served 10 years. The best part was she got to pet Indiana who was out in the box. Thanks for your nutty sense of humor!

Different to how they do it now ! Look at the crowds in the courtyard and on the street , as busy as today ! There's some Victorian photos as well .

Hi John Tannys Tomasz here I watched the video and it was more peaceful the people on bikes have seen before they do awesome tricks. The troopers were so awesome today it's the parents that need to get a grip putting kids near a horse that could come out unexpectedly. So if they teach a kid to disrespect a guard what does that say when the kids go back to school. Go ahead disrespect the teacher so sad I feel sorry for those kids. My sister in law had a kidney transplant but had to be hospitalized again because the donated kidney failed thankfully the second transplant is working but she still has to receive blood transfusions to keep the kidney functioning. I love how the police and guards are working together to keep everyone safe don't go risking your health to keep your viewers happy rest when you need to you come first. Loving all the videos stay safe and healthy. I don't get Instagram so don't know how else to reach you. Cheers to all today 🎉🎉🎉🎉

With no touching everyone is quietly getting their pictures and moving on so less pressure on the horse and rider. The horses are absolutely beautiful which shows the high standards the horse guards care for them. John are you not able to get a list of the horses on duty each day via online which would help with identification

I live in Stockholm but have never visitd our HorseGuard, it´s always so crowded
I live in the UK and have never been either. I hate crowds. That's why I watch theses video's that John takes the time to film.I can see horse guards from my chair with a cup of tea, and a biscuit.
@@maxthecat14 Yes, I hate crowds too, I´m from the north of Sweden and ain´t used to it, and wont get used. I avoid the city as much as i can :)

Omy its very busy this morning. Made me jump when trooper shouted lol.The signs seem to be working just noticed that when it gets clogged from parade side more people seem to touch, might be a good idea to put signs the other side.

we're led to believe they are making new signs for both sides of each of the sentry boxes! they definitely also need one on the side where tourists come out from the yard -
