- Tavares (also known as The Tavares Brothers) is an American R&B, funk and soul music group composed of five Cape Verdean-American brothers. Born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island, they would later move to New Bedford, Massachusetts.
Tavares is:
• Butch - Feliciano Tavares, born 18 May 1948.
• Chubby - Antone Lee Tavares, born 2 June 1945.
• Pooch - Arthur Lee Tavares, born 12 November 1943.
• Ralph - Ralph Viera Tavares, born 10 December 1942.
• Tiny - Perry Lee Tavares, born 24 October 1949.
1975 turned out to be their most successful year chartwise, with a Top 40 Pop album (In the City), the No. 25 hit "Remember What I Told You to Forget", and their biggest hit, the Top 10 Pop/No. 1 R&B smash "It Only Takes a Minute", which was later successfully covered by both Jonathan King and Take That, and sampled by Jennifer Lopez. They parlayed this success into a spot as an opening act for The Jackson 5. KC and The Sunshine Band was also on this tour. "Minute" was followed by a string of hits: "Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel" (1976), "Don't Take Away the Music" (1976), and "Whodunit" (1977, another No. 1 R&B hit).

I was 14 when this hit the UK charts I’m 61 now whooosh 1977 the year previous Heaven must be missing an angel both songs makes the years roll back to happier times hot summers life was simpler then and I had all my family all around me sadly most have all gone now. These guys were very, very talented. Great harmonies and good looking fellas to boot.
The wonderful and so sorely missed time when songs had singable lyrics, memorable melodies, great ACOUSTIC/string/brass arrangements, featured singers with REAL chops, REAL musicality, highly entertaining and very original. Back in those days songs also had so much absent these days so-called "foot-tap factor". Artificially boosted "popularity" of trash acts like Bieber or Lady Gaga won't ever approach the musical geniuses of the by-gone era or the 60's, 70's and 80's.
To be fair and I agree with most of what you say but, at least Lady Gaga was original and different. I am not sure what Bieber brought to the table but that is comparing apples to pears.
I also believe there was more originality with the 70’s music but it’s always been that the previous generation feels that their music is better than the present generation which is why I always hesitate 2 criticize today’s music.

Man, watching these videos make me want to dance SO BAD. It was growing up, watching performers like these guys that taught me to dance, and people said I was good. Now, I'm lucky to walk, but that desire to dance is still there, especially listening to music like this.
