Well, AnnenMayKantereit blew up a while ago already in Germany/Europe with their songs "Barfuß am Klavier" and "Pocahontas", which lead to them being the biggest German indie band in a while.
Giant Rooks also blew up because of their incredible musicality with their songs "Wild Stare" and later "Watershed“, and now they‘re touring with Milky Chance, a duo you probably know because of their hit "Stolen Dance"… so long story short, it’s going pretty well for both bands ☺️

The original song of Toms's Diner was written and recorded by Susanne Vegas. The song is just about the same as the original. Except for the lead singers are from 2 different German bands. The combination of the two different voices is very cool. The lead singer for the one band with 3 names has this extremely rich, deep , and raspy voice which is why the song is so popular. It was recorded in 3019 and has gained over 70 million views. The band a mix of both bands in 2 different rooms really compliment the voices. Hannan May is the guy with the deep voice and his band named after the 3 guys who started the band usually sing in just German and has cut several CD's. Tgd other band GIANT ROOK, who's lead singer Fredrick sings in both languages and had tour in the US to open for another band. This is one sweet collaboration and I would not classify it as rock, even though both bands sing Rock, usually original music. This guy's play multiple instruments, and you can find a lit of music for both bands on CZcams

Fredrick from Giant Rook plays guitar, keyboards and drums, he is the other voice. Sweeter. Like I said he sing in German and English and it looked like ghere were 5 in the band.
The other band has quite a larger band on stage including brass section. The singer with the deep voice is Hannon May. He has that rich Gravelly bluesy voice which you can hear in his songs. He can sing very high if he wants to. He said he had a hard time when singing this song because he had to sing in the other bands singer Frederick's key. So that may attribute to a little more of the straining in his throat saying that in his key. But I think he loved what he did with it and put his ball into that song as you can tell. He play guitar, keyboard and piano. Thd original song is from Suzanne Vega and the music and words are the same except they've added a lot more flavor to the music. They enhance and still stay true to the song. There is a video of Hannon May singing with another guy Roxanne not in the studio and some building that has Rubble around it. But some of the band is there definitely the three leads and the guy with the trumpet somebody hitting a small drum set, definitely worth checking it out. I think if this guy can learn to sing Everything in English I think he could be the next vague recording star. I've listened to his songs in German even though I don't know what he's saying it sounds good.. they showed at one of the concerts that Frederick from giant rock showed up run them out on stage so that they could sing Tom Steiner together. Of course the whole introduction I was in German. I hope you enjoy listening to the song because it's kind of addicting to listen to the blend of the voices and music you know they must have practice in time everything to the second to get that song that perfect in a live recording.

Does anyone have any recommendations of artists that sounds like the second dude that sung? (Like deep deep voices, preferably country or rock, or alternative.)

Annenmaykantereit, this exact band, has some great songs if you don't mind German. My favourites are Pocahontas and Nicht nichts :)

Colter Wall, Avi Kaplan, Ben Caplan for new music.
If you want to find similar sounds more easily literally just listen to any classic blues.
Or try "We Gotta Get Out of This Place" by The Animals.

Annenmaykantereit had about 1.4 million subscribers before now they are pretty close to 2 million. But they were already huge in Germany they basically sing German songs cuz they are Germans but sometimes they do some English covers and they also have some original English singles but the truth is that their German songs are pretty as much as the English ones they have 3 albums in German.
The other band Giant Rooks only sings in English they already have an album.
By the way, the song had had 28 million views on CZcams before it became a trend.
And that kid is 30 by the way😂

You HAVE TO listen to that album by Suzanne Vega. The original is a great song. The album most popular song is LUKA. A story about a boy who is abused by his parents and how he struggles with his life. I'm not sure about the genesis of the song, but I read that it is based on a real story. She, Suzanne , was a neighbor to the boy and his real name is LUKA. I say "is" because I hope he is alive and well. Tom's Dinner is another story. Listen to the original guys.

I liked your reaction, alot. The 1st singer is Fred Rame, his band Giant Rooks is in the 2nd room The 2nd vocalist with the powerful deep baritone voice is Henning May and his band ANNENMAYKANTEREIT + bass player and trumpet player are in the 1st room. Henning May and guitarist Christopher Annen and drummer Severin Kantereit started as a street band in Germany in 2012 when they were abt 21. Now they fill huge arenas in Europe. Most of their originals since they made it big are in German. I'm going to give you a list of their videos in English of covers then their older originals that are in English.. i bet you will be impressed by every one of them. The last time I was this excited abt a vocalist was in the 90's when Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, Chris Cornell of Sound Garden, Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilot and the lead vocalist of the band LIVE. I immedistely bought the Throwing Copper CD. Loved their voices. HERE ARE AMK'S COVERS: COME TOGETHER, ROXANNE, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN'S I'M ON FIRE (JUST HENNING & PIANO) KYLIE MONIQUE'S CANT GET YOU OUT OF MY HEAD, A COLLABORATION WITH A BAND CALLED PAR CELS. HENNINGS VOICE IS PERFECT IN THIS COVER. NEXT IS JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE'S CRY ME A RIVER (JUST HENNING & CHRISTOPHER OUTSIDE IN GREECE) AMY WINEHOUSE'S VALERIE (A DUET WITH NATALIE FINDLEY UNKNOWN TO ME BUT HER VOICE AND HENNING'S COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER. ACTUALLY HIS VOICE IS GOOD WITH EACH COLLABORATION THAT I'VE SEEN SO FAR. NEIL YOUNG'S, THE NEEDLE & THE DAMAGE DONE (Written abt strung out women and then his best friend dying of an overdose, then more friends dying like Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, the Stones' Brian Jones to name a few. Too much loss. Anyway, Henning plays guitar and puts his own spin on Let it Be. Their original songs in English are from 8 to 11 yrs ago. WAITING, LEAVIN, SOMEDAY SOMEWHERE, YOUR DOOR(YOU BEING A DRUMMER SHOULD LOVE THIS (S. KANTEREIT PLAYS A CAJONE AND THEIR GUEST HOLGAR PLAYS A STEEL DRUM) THE SOUND IS GREAT. NO EXPENSIVE INSTUMENTS, NO MIKES OUTSIDE. I LOVED this song. DON'T SAY A WORD, JAMES (ST JAMES INFIRMARY) RECORDED AT THE LIVE IN BERLIN CONCERT 7 YRS AGO. THEY SING THEIR OWN LYRICS. BUT KEPT THE MELODY OF THE OLD SONG. I DONT EXPECT.YOU TO.REACT TO EACH OF THESE BUT I TRULY BELIEVE YOU WOULD LIKE EACH ONE. Take care.
