Here is another brilliantly simple and effective video on how to add a timeline. Those who tried to do this in the past and couldn’t shall appreciate it.
i came here after a incredibly frustrating excell timeline tutorial where i was stuck at the last step, very clear very good tutorial thank you so much
I can't believe it takes so many steps to create a timeline in PP - that is a shame. Nonetheless, I absolutely believe this is what is required, so I thank you for the information.
It is well worth the few minutes of effort to make a professional looking timeline like Karina explains here rather than the "SmartArt" drop pin timeline (rough looking). Thanks for sharing!
So when I did mine I tried to do it by 30 minute or hour intervals and powerpoint would just put in a random time literally like 9:43 or whatever for the tikmark which is very hard to read if you need a timeline because it doesn't come across as accurate. Is there a way to edit this to be exact 30 minute intervals? Also, can I make a middle point and title it in a way ? Does this make sense?
I can see this works well for multiple years but what if the data we're plotting is over multiple quarters within the last 5 years. How can we change the x-axis labelling to show quarters instead of whole years?
The labels aren't working on x-axis. I need a range from 500 B.C.E. to 500 C.E. It's showing (2,4,6,8...) instead of (500 B.C.E., 400 B.C.E...). Are you not supposed to put anything but numbers in the spreadsheet? And can you not repeat numbers, descending in B.C.E. and repeating those numbers going back up to 500 C.E.?
The mere fact that you went straight into the explanation is a thumbs up for me !
For real

I used a scatter chart which has to have numbers. I think if you use a line chart instead that would probably work.
how should i delete these gridlines? 0:39 seconds
Click on the gridlines using the mouse and then press delete on the keyboard
Anyone know how I would put months on this?
Why’ does my PowerPoint not look like urs
