Here in the USA and I live in the NY City Metro area, getting film processed and printed is now a minimum 10-day turnaround. The days of the 1 hour film lab are over in the USA! Folks, get over it! Be patient! It raises the anticipation level and the pleasure of finally seeing your finished product. As the folks in the UK and Australia say, Don't be a WANKER!

I’m 63 (a gatekeeper 😉 as I repair most all of my analog gear myself) and I think I’ve just found a new favorite channel for film photography. I’m liking all of your videos so far! Cheers mate!

That F6 drop. I had a tiny heart attack. Thanks to you coop, I sold all my Fuji gear and bought a D850 and Zeiss Milvus 50 f1.4. OMG, OVF is just amazing. With new AI advancements and making our life easy to just shoot to 20fps, going manual has really helped me enjoy photography even more. Would love to know your thoughts on AI and photography. Keep up the good work.

The remoteness of Australia i reckon contributes to higher shipping charges etc. if there was a burgeoning film related industry like in Japan etc that would be great. Meaning Australians would be self reliant to the sense not needing to send cameras out of the country. for repairs etc. There is nothing bad about hoarding since prices keep rising. Have been buying 2-300 feet of Tri X 400 and T Max 400 every month for the past 1 and half years.
Film is less than a third of Kodak Alaris Business. Their other businesses are in decline while film flourishes. Film can't make up for the losses, even if they had every square mm Eastman Kodak could make. The Pension fund is looking at their Excel Spreadsheet and seeing that with interest rates rising, they would get a better return auctioning assets and putting the money in a passbook savings account than expecting a dividend from Kodak Alaris. Any wanker can see that! Besides, Kodak is not an un-ethical company and wouldn't squeeze a customer and risk the legal consequences in the litigious US. (All due respect to Nico)

Had the same experience at a camera repair shop. Said I like to learn how to repair cameras and he said come in for a trial. After a day he says I’m too slow. For fuck’s sake, how does one learn 25 years worth of repair experience in a day?

Pffff. I have to wait 1 week to get my scans at my local lab and guys, it is FINE. The world will still be here in a week 😂 Unless you need your scans back quick because it is a paid job or something and it is time sensitive, then pay premium and get it done quicker. But then yet again, if you have to ship it, it is probably 2 to 3 days to get there and the same to get your negatives back, that is almost a week already 🤷🏻♂️ So….local labs are very good to have and 2 to 3 days turn around is actually a quick service considering the amount of labs vs demand.
i think there's a women in Sydney that fixes leica film cameras, there is a youtube video about her somewhere. After watching it I was satisfied I could trust her to fix mine

Solid rant, you should check out Jessica Ibarra, do a deep dive on her. One of the most obsessed and crafty technicians out there who got all her tools from a master, spent years listening, and is still very open to learning. And, yes, I'm in my 40's, and have only shot film for 30+ years, and am quite decent at some other things too, but always sharing any bit of knowledge, in any path of my life, is the first thing to come off my lips- if another asks, I never offer. We all die quicker than we think we might. Otherwise, let them find their own path and don't be dismissive, ever. Let your photographs speak, regardless of race, age, or gender. Nico nailed it BTW. You said it, dick, wanker.

I am a film hoarder. I am still shooting stock I bought ten years ago - old Fujifilm, Agfa Ct Precisa, Elite Chrome, Tri-X...
I stocked up my fridge with hundreds of additional rolls to lock in previous price levels, I got some 400 rolls of 135 color film in my fridge and some 100 rolls of 120. No regrets, no feelings of guilt, no feelings of privilege - you gotta do what ye gotta do. I've bought about 200 rolls of the Fuji relabeled Gold for USD17 per 36x3-pack from one of my local camera stores I go to - they sold it at that price to walk in customers. I'd been stupid not to stock up at that price - I'll be shooting Gold for years like Winogrand. Sue me.
