  • 1966 Cadillac DeVille Convertible - EV Custom SEMA Show Car - 1 of a Kind! - For Sale!
    Asking $89,500
Here is one of the most unique 1966 Cadillacs on the road, as it is fully electric with 1,000 ft-lbs of torque. This custom, one-off car was built by Legacy EV for SEMA in 2021 to showcase the possibilities of converting classic cars into electric vehicles. They built this car from the ground up as a showpiece for their company. This car has received extensive press coverage worldwide and is well-known in the car scene as a pioneer in the industry. Just Google "1966 Cadillac dEVille EV custom" to find pages of articles, press releases, news segments, and more about this car.
This is a very beautiful car with a unique look that stops traffic and turns heads. During the restoration, it was finished in bright white with a striking red interior. The stance comes from a fully adjustable, computerized air ride system sitting on custom-made, one-off 20-inch billet aluminum wheels designed to resemble the original Cadillac hubcaps, and it even has floating Cadillac center caps. All the chrome and trim have been redone to look like new.
Now, this is where the car gets very interesting: it is powered by a 394 hp (292.5 kW) electric motor with 1,000 ft-lbs of torque, mated to a 1-speed automatic transmission. An NMC lithium-ion battery pack (55 kWh) powers three inline Hyper9 Motors featuring a Synchronous Reluctance Internal Permanent Magnet Motor (SRIPM) controlled by SmartView Motor software. The Hyper9 has a power-to-weight ratio of 0.73 kW/lb (or 0.97 hp/lb), more than any other motor in its class, and boasts 95% efficiency. The car has a range of an estimated 100 miles on a fully charged battery, as per the company that built it.
You now have a chance to own an awesome piece of automotive history and a true conversation starter at any car event. This is the lowest price this car has ever been on the market for and is a great deal for its next owner. A little over a year ago, this car was priced at $294,000 by the builder, Legacy EV. In January, it sold at Barrett-Jackson for a fraction of the build cost and at a huge loss to the company. My client purchased the car at the auction among many others that weekend. I took delivery of the car for him and stored it for the past few months. Since then, his interests have changed, and he has asked me to sell it for him, yet still at a fraction of the build cost. Don’t wait on this one!

I had a white 66 Coupe DeVille with red interior back in the 90's. I absolutely loved everything about that car except that it got around 10 mpg highway and 3-5 mpg in town. Every cent I made that summer went into its 33 gallon gas tank. I loved cruising it but it was rapidly running me broke, and that was when gas was $.99. Converting this to electric feels like the right way to hot rod one of these. I love it, I want it, I'll be watching the auction for sure :) I would want to add a second 55kw battery bank so it would have a 200 mile range
