I thought about joining the hockey 🏒 team because I love the sport. However do they just hand out medals like participation trophy

I am sorry that is what you think but you are so wrong. Anyone who makes it to the Paralympics has worked their buts off to get there. Just saying!

And you have to earn those medals. I worked my but off for nearly 8 years and did not receive a medal.

This must be your own personal experience, Hockey IS a team sport so even if you keep the bench warm you do in fact still get a trophy. Joan participated in individual merit sports.
