  • I have had my new shower for several months and have not been able to use it due to broken legs and the inaccessibility of it. Here is how I fixed the problem.

So glad you got your shower situation figured out! It's so easy to take for granted something I do every day what some people struggle to do. Thanks for sharing. ❤

Thank you for sharing. My brother has made a total of 3 roll/walk in showers his and 2 for my parents the old house then the new house. He saved them money for sure.

Redness on your leg is not normal - sign of inflammation or infection. I hope you see your orthopedic Dr at least every 2 weeks and they x-ray both legs at every visit. Because you are paraplegic is not an excuse for inadequate care. (Retired RN). My tib-fib fracture was open so surgery was required. Infection in bones is very difficult to treat so I watched my leg like a hawk and I called that surgeon's office with any infection signs. My fracture also involved a crushed ankle so I could not have any weight bearing on my injured leg until healing started. My bones did not start healing until I had toe touch weight bearing. Even a bone stimulator didn't help until I had light weight bearing.
So happy for you with the shower issue resolved! 🚿 Water is such a gift from God!

That is a great solution, and may I say? I really love that tub. And just say you know you are such a Warrior.😊

Thanks for sharing this with us. I'm sorry about the mismeasurement. I'm sure you were frustrated by that. No matter how much we says "Measure twice - cut once" there are still things we assume and sometimes we get it wrong. I'm really happy you were able to find a solution you could make work for you!

Why didn't you put in a open shower so you could transfer to a shower chair that's how I did to give my handicap husband a shower f t om his wheel chair

My friends put in a "roll-in" shower in their master bath to accomodate the husband's wheel chair. The shower was 8x6 feet square! They both loved that custom shower!

I was trying to keep the cost down and I really like free standing tubs. I think if I ever do this again I will put in an open shower.

@@raallen1468 Yes I will probably do something like that next time if I ever do this again.
