  • / @nickfoleyuk We need to say goodbye to the Yamaha and thanks to ‪@FairDealMusicVideos‬ for the loan of it. What a great device.
Before it goes I thought, let's whack it through a vintage Leslie? Why not eh...
Use your ears to hear the results!
    Cheers

Leslie is the Hammond’s soul, even a cheap keyboard like this sounds fantastic through the Leslie

The CK has an output boost in the system settings. You could probably skip the boost peddle to get some overdrive from the Leslie. I’d also be curious to hear the CK overdrive with the Leslie clean.
This reminds me of my old rig back in the 80’s: Korg CX-3 through a 147 Leslie with an electric piano underneath. I’d never lift that kind of gear now but it got the job done back in the day.

I have a 770 with Leslie Preamp ll. Now each of my cheap or expensive synths can sound great.
It’s a pity that the CKs don‘t offer four outputs…
Thanks for the great test! Greetings from Germany!🇩🇪🤝

    I was thinking ... it's just a shame the keyboard isn't a little longer.
It turns out (by which I mean I searched) there's also a CK 88. 🙂
It's not cheap - electronics is cheap, keys aren't!

You'd have to be prepared to play organ on weighted hammer action keys if you go with the 88 however....

@@FurtiveSkeptical yeah - I'm thinking of getting a cheap-ish 2nd keyboard, likely 4 octaves, either a pure MIDI controller or synth, to give an organ style double manual, with an unweighted right hand

I rented a Ck61 for a while and was impressed for the price. However, I found the Leslie weak and plugging in external effects on messy festival stages just sucks. I could have got a Nord or the Yamaha YC61 but surprised myself and got another Motif, the MODX7. It’s a pain to program. Terrible UI. The sounds, however are good. One keyboard, 76 keys, 16 pounds. More music, less gear.

There's a set of "Percussion" buttons above the drawbars which adjust the attack sound of the organ. Not sure if that's what you mean.

@@Prizm44 the "click" sound is an emulation that older Hammonds develope over time due to dust accumulation on the contacts. It's considered a desirable trait.

No way to adjust it. It is WAY too clicky and sounds like crap overall. It is a last resort type of thing for when all else fails. Worse than most sampled organ patches ever made.

Yamaha makes great organs but, I still like the Hammonds and Crumars better. No matter what one you have, just pretend none of them have a rotary speaker emulator in them at all. ALWAYS run through a real Leslie and move some air!
