- In this video I head out hiking in the Peak District to continue my Ethels challenge. With a fully loaded backpack, I plan to spend the night wild camping but my plans have to change as I have to push further in order to find a suitable place to pitch the tent. It’s been a while since I’ve been on an adventure not knowing where I was going to be spending then night.

In this video, I head out hiking into the Peak District to continue my Ethels challenge. Your video quality is unreal Paul I absolutely love it,thankyou for another amazing video 🙏🙏
What a grand video! Great to see you out at full strength again Paul... what a lovely evening and camp, and an excellent sunset! I love your videos and always look forward to a new one... thanks - Dan
Nice to see you all chilled and wanting to do it Paul not that you normally come across as the opposite but it really shows you seam in a much better place mate great work and long may it continue👍👍😎
Love the contrast from one day to the next. Great video as always. A lovely calm way to start my day. Thanks.
The walks where you're unsure where you'll get to are often the best. Great shots of the Edale Valley in the peaks again.
Loving the "Just grabbed my stuff and headed out" feel to this vid! That excitement of walking aimlessly and then eyeing up the best spot in sight is hard to beat! Cracking footage of the evening sky too. Top job, Paul 😎👌
You're a really, really top bloke mate, and you've completely inspired me. I'm 52, and wild camping here I come! You have such an adventurous, sharing and caring character and it's a joy to watch and share your adventures. 🏕️👍
Beautiful film, loved the rain coming in. 👍
Nice one Paul. Part of the thrill of wild camping is not knowing where you’ll pitch. 👍
Well done Paul, lovely video, the unplanned ones can also be the best!
Enjoyed this video very much! Stunning views 😍! The rain sounded like a lullaby and your tent looks to have stayed the course during the winds and rains. I love a great tent within a tent, always worth the pricey price tag.
The wide toe box on Altras is a game changer. Zero drop works for me too...... although it feels weird wearing any other shoes now 😅
love the videos i am glad i found this channel agian after serching for it for 7 years
thank you Paul, I needed this, always loved your content, you never disappoint.
Like that tent. Beautiful vid and scenery 👍 I never sleep better than in my tent when it's raining.
Greets from the Netherlands, T.
Those Ethel’s seem rather tempting. I’ve already done 11 of them. Another good video Paul, I love the ones when you are out and about in the sticks. Thanks for sharing.
Loved the sun setting under the clouds with the rain, it looked so nice 👌🏼
Love your Ethel challenge! I am a third of the way through them, need to crack on as they are my local hills (although I approach them from the other side than you!)
I did this on Sunday, went to Crow stones at 5pm from Fairholmes, didn’t see another soul, there’s something about that adrenaline rush that feels super human, although I was up on swines back a few weeks ago and I’d have blown back down to Edale with a parachute and 4 Dachshunds in towe 😂 great video to cheer me up before night shift thanks Paul!
The colour of that sky at 8:20 is incredible. Great video Paul!
Hey Paul, can you link to the shoes you have please, my knees get sore after a lot of walking and I want to check them out if possible, thanks.
My favourite bit is there’s no other people about! Dreams 😊 and views of course 👍
Great video Paul, this has to be one of my favourites. Love the fact you ventured out and ended up exploring and pitching without a plan. More of these please! Regards to Jo also. PS always welcome to explore here in Warwick area
Well done Paul it's nice to see you and Andy out and about together again, The wives are having fun too.
I live in Scotland and I always look at your stuff in the Ethel’s, I’m going to do it one day cheers paul.👍
Love your Content Paul ! I watch all your videos here from Canada. Hope I will be able to go hiking with you one day in Pic District. 😉😉
Thanks for all your videos. I do love them. This one even seemed doable for me!
Wow. thank you so much for the super thanks. I really do appreciate it
Hey. Love watching you. Keep up the good work.
Wonderful views, many thanks
Many thanks for uploading this v video Paul - it encouraged me to get off my lazy backside and pop up to my nearest Ethel this evening - did Cown Edge (411m) in the rain - it was awesome!
Another great video from the man himself. Keep them coming Paul.😁
Lovely calm camp Paul. Love the Jetboil stash. Such a lovely little unit. Use it with the Xboil a lot. Nothing like rain on the hill when your nice and snug. Nice job man.
Thank you so much for fantastic videos I love them 😊
What a cracking walk I remember the days when I used to be able to walk like that need knew knees now so can’t any more, but it’s great to see such a beautiful views an a great sunset 😁
Great to see you out and about and feeling so good with a change in footwear
Thanks keep up the great work 👍😁
Wow! Great video
The views are great. The clouds and rain is the reality of nature’s changing beauty. Cheers for providing that experience! The video and commentary was most enjoyable. Be well. Be safe. Wishing you peace, comfort and fair weather ahead. Happy Trails!
I am deciding on a Hilleberg or a Terra Nova. Still researching a Terra Nova delivery to the states. Best wishes.
Hello from Germany 👋🏼
I love your trips, the beautiful pictures you can make for all of us.
*Big thanks for that*
Thumps up
👋🏻,nice to hear your comments on your footwear, I've been going towards lighter shoes think it's the way forward, great video as usual
Great video! I was there Thursday, Friday. Beautiful place.
Fantastic Paul, loved it.

Thats a cracking tent big enough for one 😊
A great challenge to take on mate. Some nice new gear too 👌🏻👌🏻
Beautiful view and great tent sir
Great video, love wild camping
When I hear Ethels, I think you are going to find a little old lady behind a hedge! ' Here 's one! Gotcha!'
love your videos
Great video cheers 👌🏻
Reminds me a lot of North Wales around Moel Famau and the Clwydian Range, I love walking in that area and its fairly close by, so easy to get to
Nice views! Greetings from Mexico!
Thanks for the tip about the route mapping app. Not heard of Footpath before - seems really good.
Wow. thank you so much for the super thanks. I really do appreciate it
Really enjoying your videos at the minute Paul 😎
Haha I live just over 4 miles from Hayfield. Could have lent you my back garden for the evening!
Great video, felt like one from the old days
You've inspired me to do the ethels
Very nice pitch
Great VT Paul. Has somebody got the passion back??😀
Looks like a great walk I download the Ethel app after your last Vid. Good to have a goal to go for. Might give this a go this weekend.
Cheers Paul
Brilliant you literally answered my question on the app for your watch. Does it work for android?
Nice one Paul great little video. Shame about the weather.
Nice one Paul
Looked a pucker spot.
Cheers Graham
Looks a nice spot to pitch Paul 👍🏻
I've just got back from Hayfield and it was still wet and windy 😁 Unfortunately a heel injury put paid to my hiking plans so I hobbled around Hayfield and lower hills for 3 days. 🤣 The joys of a campervan and campsite, well someone has to do it 🤣
Top kecks mate 👍
I don't camp (yet), but I love these videos.
great man
Veeeeery interesting to see you using the Flextrail Tiny Repel. I have used your reviews over the years to buy tents, pads, sleeping bags etc... i have not agreed with all the reviews but generally you are fantastic at identifying good from bad in my experience, and your experience is better than mine!!!! Any thoughts on that product would be welcomed Paul..... another amazing edit btw.
What are your new walking shoes?
fantastic
Great video, what’s the make of your shoes please
Looking in great shape - must be putting in some amount of exercise in those hills. You'll be signing up to an ML course before you know it!
Fantastic video! Was this last night Paul? I was up on Rushup Edge for a camp and the sky was spectacular! I wasn't expecting much as it was quite overcast and rainy on the way up but what a transformation! Must have taken hundreds of photos last night and need to go through and choose the best ones! You must have been happy knowing you had all that great footage. Finally got my pillow set up just right so slept well. Would have been brilliant to have bumped into you to say hello! Saw Andy B a couple of weeks ago when he went to do his gear review of the Cumbria Way and it was good chatting. Keep up the good work and all the best. Gav
Great Paul 👍 what would you say is the best long lasting two man tent ever
Are you shooting with a new camera Paul? The dynamic range in those skies looks much better than usual. Some lovely shots! 👌✨
Hey Paul, great video as always. This has become one of my favourites. Just curious what gloves are you wearing? Thanks!
We have the Lake Tahoe OGUL Peaks list in my neck of the woods consisting of 63 hikes. I’ve done about half them including the highest, Freel Peak at 10,866 ft, which essentially was a class 3 scramble. Some of them were class 4 routes which means if you lose your grip you might die. Anything class 5 and above requires technical climbing equipment (ropes etc) and more skill than I possess. I’m not sure the UK uses the same rating system.
Freel Peak isn't a Class 3, unless you went up an unusual route? The route I went up was Class 1. Did you mean a different peak? There's a lot of great hikes around Tahoe, although I haven't done anywhere near as many of the OGULs as you.
Id be interested to know more about how you improved your knee problems?
I've camped on swines back, it's a great spot if the wind speed is low. (There's a video on my channel of my camp😉) I have had to bail from there once when a storm came in, myself and my mate legged it down to hayfield campsite at 11pm lol.
Hi Paul. Great video of a very familiar place I love to visit. What is the foot ware you are using? I love zero drop shoes/boots and am curious. Thanks
Another great video Paul ...sorry to ask but I'm after a pair of shoes like those ...whats the make and model? Cheers
Hey Paul, have you reviewed the Flextail tiny repel? Just received mine and yet to try it out. Would love to hear your thoughts on it.
Nice Video as per usual Paul! What do you think of the trail running shoes compared to traditional hiking boots? It'd be nice a video comparison Cheers
Loving the Technicolour Trousers Paul - What are they? It's been years since I've seen walking trousers in an interesting colour.
Paul, if you had to choose one back pack which would it be? The Sierra or the Atom?
Still use those poles though. Wear and tear on the joints slowed down considerably. Atb
What tent are you using on this trip? It looks like the naturehike opalus 2 but I know there are several other similar tents on the market.
If this is recent, the spectacular sunset colours could be caused by the jet stream carrying over wildfire smoke from Canada. Read it somewhere on a news channel the other day.
I have to ask what has happened to the van build or have I been missing stuff?
have you tried any of the temu camping stuff to test if it is any good for beginners
Nice One How are you finding the Lone Peak shoes now its wet>?
Nice mate. How is your Ethel progress?
Nice1 Paul. Me and my mate have planned to do the West Higland way (Glagow - Fort William) next spring. I was wondering which shoes you use. My knees are the waek factor (after years of semi-professional volleybal) and I use Meindl Kampfshuhe leight at the moment, a B shoe, I guess your shoes are rated A to B. Mind linking these shoes for me t see if it's something to consider?
Nice walk and camp Paul. Can you please add the GPX file. Thanks.
How much time it take to walk for Camping area? I think you may have walked nearly 2 hours
I’m not seeing the gpx link referenced in the video. Oversight?
file.io/98jpQVUgYuEN sorry about that
Can u do some videos in the oex bobcat
