- UPDATE: Jeff Sitar died February 22, 2019. He was 57 years old. Rest in peace Jeff.
Jeff Sitar, world champion safe cracker, and featured on Discovery Channel, History Channel, and many others. Jeff was called on to crack an antique Victor safe in the Paunch basement! jeffsitarsafecracker.net - Jak na to + styl
I went to school with Jeff- our mothers were friends , and three years ago I learned of his passing. I am proud of him and what he has accomplished!😊
I met Jeff when i was 3 years old. He was working at the place where he met his wife. Locksmith on the corner of Market st in Passaic. I brought my bicycle in and he fixed it for free. He was a great guy and a legend. RIP Jeff.
It only took Jeff about 45 minutes or so to crack my 100 year old safe. He was extremely fast and friendly.
He was a great guy. I knew him when i was about 4 years old. He worked at a locksmith place on Market Street in Passaic, NJ. His wife was a really nice lady. Great all around guy. RIP Jeff.
Jeff seemed like such as awesome guy that really loved what he did, and it showed. RIP
He was. He fixed my bike for free all the time. I was about 4 then when he worked at a locksmith where he met his future wife and father in law. Great friendly guy.
Jeff was the best of the best. He will be greatly missed. Thank you Jeff for teaching me about safes. You were awesome
RIP Jeff. Awesome individual.
Rest in peace Jeff!
Why does it hurt so much inside when people say they love their job, and they actually mean it.
This guy was a God.

Was
is it just me or does Jeff Sitar look a little like Charles Bronson ???
A little yes.
The safe is the valuable thing
John Denver is now cracking safes. That's a far cry from guitar playing and singing folk songs.

Don’t get it? John Denver died years ago.
@@charlesbaldo he kinda looks like John Denver. Not really but JR thinks so.

Thanks, I don't see it either. I was a John Denver fan though, maybe thats why.
Jeff died this year 2019 at age 57. No information as to how. Maybe he actually did use his talents in a black hat manner.
Sadly it was reported that his death was reported as suicide by hanging. Terrible tragedy for such a legendary man.
He said “I love this job” in this video. That is so sad.
Why would using your “talents in a black hat manner” cause you to die? I would think you’d want to keep the best safe cracker in the world alive and well regardless.

I Wondering if he was really dead. A great black hat could create some false public records of his own death. Some other person commented he committed suicide though.
His death is very suspicious....I doubt that he actually killed himself. Maybe he got in over his head with the government (he knew too much).
paunchstevenson Hi, I have a floor safe/vault that came with the house I bought. Is there a way to find the manufacturer and have them come open it? or what are the alternatives.
Ever get it open?
I'm curious how much it cost to have him open it?
A lot he's dead
I just read about him myself. His base rate was $150, but it also depends on size and complexity to get in. And travel expenses. Seems fair to me. It's less expensive than a plumber. ;-)
@Tommy 22/02/2019**
the camera operator is making me so seasick that I have to stop watching this.
Great shot of the cat. wow.
It's just called motion sickness when you're on land.
Damn, he opened it that fast? It looks like he didn't even put any effort to open it.
I'm pretty sure he just shined his flashlight on it and it gave up. "Oh shit. It's Sitar... I'm up out this biatch!"
He had already opened it before this video starts. he says, "I'm just gonna pack up my equipment..." safety checks the hinges, and then steps back to let the owner actually open the door.
Correct. He didn't allow us to record him working on opening the safe to protect his trade secrets. We respected his wishes.
I'm pretty sure the pattern is determined by the number of disks,if you have four disks,it starts from 4.
How long did it take him to open it?
Jeff Is the Greatest. i Met him once Many Years Ago At A Trade Show. i Also Knew Dave Mc Omie He Is A Safe Cracker
Is that a gas meter inside the basement at 14:35? I didn't think it's code compliant to locate a meter in the basement.
Thanks for making this video. I gained valuable knowledge. I have a safe similar but made approximately 1855. Looking for someone in the St. Louis, Missouri area to open mine.
so he just open dial lock safes?
how did u contact him?
a buddy of mine bought a house with a safe in it, he had the combination, and could not get it open, he bet me 10 buck i could'nt open it, i opened it on the 1st try, he called me wanting me to open it again and it just would'nt open, now i know why. nice video
This guy is a freaking wizard. He could be the world's best cat burglar if he wanted, lol.

3:00 So why don’t they put wood inside most safes these days? Why are self shelves made of metal? Is it a good idea to line your safe with wood if you have ample empty space?
Technical development...probably using two steel chambers with vacuum between.. like a thermos.
does anyone know the manner and cause of death?
5:00 - "They hate this. I like to torture them..."
Let's see who gets it. ;-)
Ghostbusters
Problem is, now everyone knows how to open your safe.
Anyone know how he died? It's very elusive
Elix Tido I’m trying to find out also
+Elix Tido Someone posted it was suicide by hanging.
I’ve watched two Jeff sitar videos in a row. Each safe he cracked in the videos are the same safes I own lol. But yeah that little safe weighs about 500 pounds. Mine came out of an old restaurant
So whats the code geff
i have a safe just like the one in the video that i would like opened. how can i contact that guy
Well it's a nice safe, you should be able to sell it no problem a collector would buy it
womp womp
So did you hire the worlds greatest safe cracker for nothing or did you know how?
so how do you deal with digital safe technology. you are part of 1 and ten million people who can actually who can beat a mechanical safe. how do you get past digital Moslers or digital S&G locks ?
Probably cost a couple thousand to get it open
I doubt it... It only took him a few minutes and he does this stuff for a living. I couldn't see him charging more than $200-300
Took more than a few minutes, but your price range is correct.
It’s ez to open a safe
