A Solar Eclipse and an Oncoming Gale | Ep. 258

- Well I had hoped to sail direct to the Chesapeake Bay from Florida, but an approaching cold front is forecast to usher in gale conditions around Cape Hatteras, so Beaufort it will be. Otherwise it's pleasant sailing as I work my way north, following the Gulf Stream, and I have perfect weather to view the solar eclipse of April 7, 2024.

Agreed. If he doesn’t mind, I would like to recommend you watch “Far Reach Voyages” here as well. He rebuilt and sailed an engineless Cape Dory 36 from NC to the BVIs. Good story.

That was a nice eclipse. I got some goof photos of it with my telescopes. It was nearly total here in Oriental NC. Can send you a photo if you want. Hey 2 miles is great from a pitching sailboat. Use to do Celestial. Taught it in the Planetarium where I was on staff. Fun. Use to actually HAVE to use it. No other choice. Ha ha.
