  • Here is an example of Tom Beers, the Producer of "Wild Justice", portraying miners as the cause of these same dead floating belly-up fish as he does in another episode from Season 2, Episode 5, titled Gold Fever. It was actually used in several other segments of the episode, having nothing to do with gold mining.
This is ridiculous if you ask me, but that is my opinion. Keep on mining, because if you're a miner, you probably know the difference between facts and propaganda!
Not sure about his sedimentation problem either. I just sat through 3 big rainstorms that lasted an entire week here in Northern California. You cant even see your hand when you stick it in the water. Then you boldly say miners are the ones smothering spawning fish eggs! Give me a break!

Four miles to hike and two river crossings...but the gold miners could drive there and it was National Forest.

This state has gone to hell. I am a 5th generation born here & my family came here in the 1860's for Gold & because of Gold. Back in the 1970's I had a mining claim on the Yuba & I worked hard at keeping it clean picking up trash that people left after camping. I removed a lot of mercury from the river while dredging. I had fisherman come downstream to where I was dredging complaining at how bad the fishing was upstream & that I was screwing the river up. They caught more fish just below me.

Just for the sake of argument how much silt and debris and damage did the Oroville dam create in it's near failure? The dam was created by the State pros I think they have bigger fish to fry. However legal hobbyist gold mining in more probability creates less pollution than the law enforcement does in the pursuit. They were dressed like they were hunting VC not gold miners. Don't they work for the state? And the comment about they are there to protect the environment? That's not in their charter. Maybe that's why they are called the California Department of Fish and Wildlife not the eco police. I really enjoy National Geo, but National Geo should stick to the beautiful aesthetic filming they are respected for and let the sleazy play cops programs be on the other channels they have to pay me to watch.

Luckily I have mostly had great warden contacts in the wild. I can say those wardens are what all law enforcement should strive to be. Forest service people are a different story. Federal level onea tend to believe that the outdoors belongs to them and thet are a bad home owners association. Closing public roads and areas we legally have access to. Or giving our prospering club a hard time . thats why we have a lawyer thats a prospecter too boot
