- Ace Indian filmmaker V Shantaram had a big Ganesh Chaturthi celebration at his Rajkamal Studios. V Shantaram was a Ganesha devotee and in this video we tell his back story as well. V Shantaram founded Prabhat Studios in Kolhapur which then shifted to FTII Pune campus before coming to Mumbai. Hit films of V Shantaram are Navrang, Do Aankhen Barah Haath, Dr Kotnis Ki Amar Kahani etc.

Wonderful memories. I remember many of Prabhat films as well. Some were way ahead of his time. My late father as 14 year old used to do odd jobs there so heard lot of stories.

Rajkamal Studios in Parel is a landmark which needs no recognition. I loved the picture of huge 13 feet Ganpati Idol that V.Shantaram kept at his studios during Ganpari Festival in those days, his style of marketing his movie Geet Gaaya Pattharo Ne during Ganesh Visarjan was a successful novel idea !! Kudos to his marketing vision.

Lovely video on v.shantaram, one of the greatest figures of indian film industry. He struggled to built one of the best film studio of India. His unique style of showing names of the unit workers of his movie was very interesting. Shantaramji had also produced 2 Bengali movies- 'Palatak'and 'Path o Prasad' both by veteran Bengali film maker Tarun Majumder who kept a great respect for him. Shantaramji had himself wanted to listen to the script and then offered to produce the movie and gave the director a free hand to do the casting when no producers were ready. The film was a great success and went on to become a landmark of Indian cinema. And rahoulbhai your collection of photo of mr.shantaram with lord ganesha and of the immersion procession - OUTSTANDING 👍
