The story behind this song as told by Tim. He was writing pop and contemporary songs for a guy in Los Angeles,California. Tim had grown up with country music,so he was trying to get away from it. His boss asked him to write a country song. He drank a bottle of Jack Daniels,then wrote this song drunk. It's become a favorite.

The story behind this song is hilarious: Something like 15 years ago Tim's employer told him to write a country song but he didn't want to. So he came up with the "worst" (his words) country song he could think of--and to this day it is one of his most popular originals 😆

The person who walked by in the bar was Avi Kaplan (formerly of Pentatonix) who did Ring of Fire with them. Tim wrote a Christmas sequel to this song called "Full of Cheer". You'll have to check it out during the holidays.

When Tim wrote this he was working as a song writer, wrote the most hackneyed song he could think of 'cuz he didn't want to write country songs. He later advised people "not to get in their own way" as he had. Avi Kaplan makes 3 cameos: 1) his is the hand that sets down the champagne glass in the bar; 2) he passes in front of them, and 3) he's sitting on the bull at the back of the bar. #HomeFree

Home Free brings so much joy! They obviously have fun making fun of themselves, and with Tim's talent for narrative (I call it talking and singing at the same time), you just have to laugh out loud! This is one of Tim's earlier works. Keep going, there's SO much more to discover!

Tim wrote this song before he joined Home Free. it is a funny long story how and why he wrote it Tim could have easily been a comedian..
The cowboy in black is Avi Kaplan. He was the bass for Pentatonix at this time. This video was shot soon after Home Free won The Sing-Off. Avi was in the video Ring of Fire. which was shot at the same time. He then made a cameo in this video which was shot immediately afterward Ring of Fire. If you look carefully, you can see Avi on a mechanical bull past the guys in the last shot.

The gentleman that walked by in the black is Avi Kaplan. He was the bass in another a cappella group called Pentatonix. He is now gone out on his own. However, you can see him singing with Home Free on Ring of Fire.

If I remember correctly, Ring Of Fire was recorded the day before this song and since Avi was still around, he had a cameo in this song. Also, Avi is riding the mechanical bull in the background at the very end.

This is a Tim Foust original. Written by him before he joined #HomeFree. He tells a hilarious story, behind the writing of this "redneck anthem" song, in a way only Tim can tell it. The surprise walk-on by Avi Kaplon was a nice surprise when they released it.

Hahaha…yeah Tim’s dry wit makes him the best comedian. He is usually the spokesman for the group in concerts and is so funny. Fun thing about this song. Years agoTim’s boss in LA wanted him to write a country song and he didn’t want to but the boss insisted so he went home, got drunk and wrote this song in one night hoping it would fail but of course it’s one of his biggest hits. Hahaha. That guy that appeared in the video near the end was Avi Kaplan, the other bass in Home Free’s video of Ring of Fire. They had filmed it the day before and he hung around with the boys and made a cameo in this one. Such a fun song. Love the lyrics, “I won’t see her pretty face at all, since the prison’s no where near the mall”. Hahaha. Gotta love it! Good one boys.🤣😂

The fella that walked in front of the camera was Pentatonix' Avi Kaplin ' their ex Bass.Avi is also in Ring of fire but in that clip they make it look like Avi is hitting the very,heavy bass note,at the end of the song but in actual fact it is Tim.Just about all homefries know who hits that note. Avi ( bass singer who sang with Pentatonix) sang with Home Free in Ring of fire has the cowboy hat on that he put on near the end of the ring of fire song. You have to go see our guys in concert. Why? Because the concerts are just as fun as the song. Tim is the M.C. and has everyone laughing in between songs and get everyone to sing along when asks and tell you to join them for a beer but doesnt tell you where at. Wonder how many went looking for them. For more fun watch the video "Brother" Adam Rupp is responsible for the concept and it is funny. Short video but I think I watch it everyday.

They had just finished filming Ring of Fire with Avi Kaplan and Avi was there just hanging out with his buddies. I guess maybe he decided on the walkthrough on the spur of the moment and no one bother to tell Tim. Typical for the BTS highjinks of filming a Home Free video. Check out any of their 23 (so far) From the Vault videos. Tim wrote this song and also the followup called Full of Cheer. Sort of continues the storyline but with Austin as the focus instead of Tim. I guess the wife dumped Tim for Austin?
