@FactFinder - your comment isn't really bashing a Pan-African Studies degree, you're bashing the state of the US Economy. There are many people with Engineering and STEM degrees unemployed, unable to cover their loans at this very moment. If the economy was great and the employment rate were high, I'd love to do some sort of "American, Pan-African, Black studies." It would be very interesting.

Anyone with an engineering degree who isn't earning plenty of money probably should have gone to trade school or started a gardening business. That's just more victimhood rhetoric, exactly what Pan African studies teaches.
Every engineer I know, and I know a LOT of them..has their choice of work wherever they chose. Starting pay for most is 70k for entry level up into hundreds of thousands for someone with experience. If you can't pay a loan with that you probably should have got a math degree.

Jesus didn't die to turn the world into a paradise, he died so that we could stop seeking paradise in the world...
Temporal things such as beauty, popularity, money, sex, racial identity, gender reassignment... can never truly satisfy. BECAUSE WE WERE MADE FOR SO MUCH MORE!

I was lucky.I went to Private School K-1 - 12 and the Grade school I went to was excellent! I attribute what I do know to my Grade school.

I am black and went to a black high school for half a year. The black/latino teachers were the root cause of poor performance in the school. I left and went to a 95% white majority school later that year and went from a C to A student and stayed there.

Well she did bring up a good point. How do you determine value??? Is there any value in teaching middle and high-schoolers about classic literature when when most are never going to need it? Is there a point to teaching basic algebra from 1st grade up to 8th grade when we already have calculators that do it for us?? Is there value in teaching teaching Algebra 2, geometry, statistics, calculus etc. in highschool when the majority of students will not become architects, physics majors or even go into STEM??

The crazier part is she refuses to acknowledge that she did not know the dialogue between her mom and the teacher or teachers superior. She does know that her mom uses the word prejudice and she does know her mom has been married twice.. and she does recall "always raising her hand" but didnt say she was never called upon... which leaves room for the teacher just trying to give other students a chance to be called upon. Not saying the teacher is right in what she recalls as the way she responded... but just seems like her story is missing a lot of specific details. So sad that this particular story was her top story she used to fuel her source of pain from a younger age.

I don't live in America and I watch Jesses shows because they make me laugh but I felt for this woman especially when Jesse was talking about her dad and step dad (not cool). Why not just get rid of it and encourage the private sector to bring back pension plans. Also children; 58.7% of california state expenditures go to fund k-12. One of our biggest mistakes, and then they cried themselves in to politics as well. They wote and leads with emotions and ego.
I’m an elementary school teacher in an urban school district and we are not allowed to give a student anything below a 50% for a grade!!! So, if a student earned a 17% on an exam, we must give them a 50%. They still fail, but a 50 % is a lot better than a 17% so their average will be higher than it really is. We lower the standard all the time for students in elementary school so imagine what they have to do to allow these students into college!
Is this the result of no child left behind? I've bn at odds at my daughter's school because she's in IEP classes and I feel as if its just TOO easy!

Therefore, God's commitment to be glorified and our goal to be satisfied are not at odds but come to simultaneous consumation in the worship of His Son... who took upon Himself the Wrath that God had towards us in our sinful disregard of Him. A wrath that could never be appeased through man-made religion.
Jesus didn't die to turn the world into a paradise, he died so that we could stop seeking paradise in the world...
Temporal things such as beauty, popularity, money, sex, racial identity, gender reassignment... can never truly satisfy. BECAUSE WE WERE MADE FOR SO MUCH MORE!
We were made to gaze intently into the Eternal Beauty of a majestic King, Father, and God... meet Jesus the Christ.

The professor showed nothing but grace and kindness during this interview. This is what is lacking in our country, I feel civil conversation and accepting that we all can share some similar views, differ in some, without the need to insult others for the differences.
