In this game Magnus had a 99.4 accuracy. And if you delete the last move its an 99.6 accuracy (99.7 is the highest possible accuracy). So in this game he played like the best computer in the world for 46 moves.
Why is 99.7% the highest possible?
@@opticpower7542 that's because nobody is perfect, and you can't just sight read people's moves all the time. So sometimes, you may blunder

For everyone wondering at 14:39, the black queen cannot take the rook on d4 because of Qg5+ and then exd4. White should not immediately play dxe4 because of Rxh6
Thank you I was wondering what’s wrong with the move
Thanks for explaining
thanks, was wondering about that
Thanks for explaining. I'd literally have taken the Black Queen immediately and lost my Queen in the sequence.

As a kid I learned how the pieces move but I never thought to 'study' chess and actually try to improve at the game, so, here we are at 55 years old (and after watching The Queens Gambit :-) ) and I've learnt more in a couple of days than I have done in all my years of life! I have to say that this guys enthusiasm for the game is downright infectious so a big thank you to Levy and keep up the good work :-)
How are you doing now? Climbing the chess ladder?
Is the grind still going?
Same
Wow, this is so similar to me! Only learned how pieces move in the childhood, learned more about chess in days than in all years before combined, and also inspired by the Netflix's TV show! Damn! I wonder, how many similar stories exist, and how much Quenn's Gambit brought to the world of chess.
Haha.. Exactly the same here ! Just passed 1600 here, but it all depends on how much time i can put into it how fast i climb.
This game is amazing! Levi analyse so everyone can understand!
Great video, definitely one of his best games.

Well Mr.Rukrul, can you give me a detailed essay to why chess is mostly luck?
rukrul Tell me you’re rated under 1200 without telling me you’re rated under 1200
Carlsen makes sacrifices giving him the upper hand in 10 moves perfectly, then here's me who doesn't see a mate in 2
Don't be so hard on yourself, Magnus missed a mate in 2 last week
Magnus hung his queen in a game in like jan of this year don't worry lol everyone makes mistakes
imagine levi going to a major chess tourna and just starts narrating every move and every intent of the player.
Imagine Levy and Agadmator doing commentary... Ah yes that's a mate in 29, great move by the knight to fork the bishop and pawn... And stuff... Would be an absolute delight.
They are not allowed to speak of other games during matches. Do not give Chessmasters bad ideas. After the game for sure.
I'd watch that anime lmao
David Howell already does this lol
Chess is so fun for magnus cos he doesn’t get to play magnus
he has Alireza..... then fun ends :-D
@@josefmalar7837 relax, Magnus currently just toying with Alireza. For now Alireza barely able to reach semifinal in most elite tournaments. But yes he is extremely strong and still young. I am sure he can be a world champhion contender one day.

Has Magnus beaten Carlsen tho?
Best comment here.
Has Nakamura ever beaten Hikaru?
Yes. He has a sister and the reason we have Magnus is because as a child he wanted to beat his sister
yes
explanation- what's his father's title? carlsen right? and in one of his lessons he made on his own app he mentioned he have had beaten his father and sister when he was 10. So yes magnus had beaten carlsen.
@@thegorn agadmator said they drew

@@usernameispassword4023 who cares?
@@shanelawson5072 actually, the year before Caruana Wc match was Carlsen's worst year. But after that match.. He basically won everything in 2019 and on. Just look for it. He went back to his peak on 2019.
@@usernameispassword4023 Supercomputers are better than people in a game with no hidden information - who would've guessed. And because of that reason, you go ahead and call Magnus washed? Then wtf would you call every other current pro? lmao
Also it is far too early to call anything a "peak". The man could play for 20 more years and peak in 10 for all we know.
Meanwhile I'm basically playing head or tail at 800 elo

head or tail
"and after bishop takes, you don't take back.... it's not checkers." I'm gonna keep that quote with me forever in this game.
"Chess isn't always competetive, chess can also be ... beautiful" Beth Harmon"s quote really suits this game, its just mindblowing art by Magnus.
Is this Magnus Carlsen’s best game? Are there others, in your opinion?
His bongcloud against Wesley is legendary
I love your videos. Thank you so much for helping me on my chess journey
Yes, there is a shortest game of Magnus Carslen career where it ended draw because Magnus wants to Poop..!!
When you say the best Magnus game ever, I can only think of one thing: really? This game was not as attractive as even a normal Mikhail Tal's game. just a boring positional game. Today is Tal's Birthday man. you should analyze one of the magician game!
Anand has his best game against Aronian too🤔🤓
It shows the quality of the highest levels of chess. It's not just their insane calcualational skills (being able to effortlessly see many combinations ahead), but also their positional knowledge is on a different level
11:55 "you don't take back, it's not checkers" LOL

Can we just appreciate Levy's analysis on this one 🙏🙏
I swear i feel like my brain cells just increases by watching these videos
Your story telling is really strong. You make chess really interesting, even when not looking at the board. You have a nice way of moving through a story. Appreciate you making chess digestible for people.
The rook-queen dance at 13:50 is beautiful. Thanks for the engaging analysis Levy!
Look at what he said at 1444 though????
Andrew Court its basic ladder checkmate , when you force the king one rank/file towards the edge of the board.. that check was to force the king either up a file so the rook mates or down a file so that the ladder could continue ..
This looks like a Karpov game: constantly increasing the pressure without actually taking anything and wait for the opponent to make a move that will open the door to a particular strategy. It's all about positional pressure that leads to an end game with very little (if none) chance for the opponent to win. I love these games!
It seems like that describes most of Magnus's games. Not a lot of fireworks, just deeply understanding the position and slowly but surely outplaying the opponent.
Nice nice nice video man keep them coming
Yes lol
Non ci credo, sei proprio tu 😍
I love how passionate you were when explaining this match
Anish Giri: Was I a joke to you?
YES
One of the most brilliant chess game explanations out there; absolutely fantastic!
Your energy is really inspiring. The most captivating chess analysis I have ever seen! Amazing content
The game felt so suffocating. "Do anything but I won't let you breath" type of vide
2:46 “Magnus is showing his first kind of poke”. Spicy!
Anand then Carlsen. Why does Aronian always fall prey to these legendary players' immortal games 😂
isnt that a way to make himselph imortal as well? :P
gate keeper hahaha
Also Veselin Topalov. He was the opponent in Alexey Shirov's immortal where Shirov played 'the greatest move in Chess history' according to Agadmator, Anatoly Karpov's immortal, and Garry Kasparov's best game
@@Overlordsen he guides others to a treasure he cannot possess
More players have played immortal games against Topalov. Plus, Aronian also played his immortal game against Magnus, and it was much nicer than this one honestly
Thank you Levy. I watched this video and tried using some of the concepts in my blitz games. I had a fool trashtalking me as he locked in his light square bishop. I rerouted a knight, traded off his most active piece and forced a resignation. It wasn't super high level but it was enough for me. Thanks again!!
Great video I remember the game from another video but it did not have this level of explanation. Great job on walking us throughout the game makes me really appreciate just how good he is.
14:36 Qxd4 - Qg5+(only move). Levy did not mention, and i found only 4 other checks for white.
Thanks for pointing this out.
Because it does not work .
White can check Black's king and then capture Black's queen .
And if Black blocks the check with the queen white captures with a fork on the rook.
I was about to comment on this because I didn’t think of that check, thanks for pointing that out.
good point Andrius
Levy, your analysis is absolutely spectacular and hugely underrated. Big things ahead in the future without question. Sending my best wishes from Ireland!
So well explained. Makes us ordinary people able to get a glimpse of Magnus' genius.
Such a tatical game.. Magnus at his best and Levon looked like he played nearly perfect.
Also such a good analysis of the game.. you really break down games well Levy
Vishy's immortal against Levon was insane - would love to have that featured.
Really happy i found this channel, rly nice content and well explained games.
This is a totally different level of Chess altogether. I love the planning and of course a few people get to say "I love when a plan comes together"!! Thanks for bringing it to the layperson like me.
I remember seeing a tournament live and Magnus was in a must win situation with black to win the tournament if I remember correctly and he played some ultra-aggressive opening , sacrificing everything on the D and E file from the beginning but his opponent was playing only forced moves mostly. I can`t remember the game but that was the best game I`ve seen Magnus play.
I wanna see the best “Sad Hikaru” ever to be sad.
This is crazy good analysis and commentary. Thank you so much Levy!
14:28 after Rd4 interfering with the rook's defence of the queen, why can't black play Qxd4, defending the rook, and attacking the queen? If exd4 then Rxh6 and black is up a rook. Edit: looks like Qg5+ intermezzo allows exd4 on the next move, winning for white.
Thanks. Makes sense with the edit
saw this too, was wondering about Rd4 as well, because that gives black advantage
@Nathan Smith Coz if queen takes Rd4 then there is Qg5+ check and the king has to move and you can capture the queen in the next move
Yep, Qg5* intermediate move works perfectly. What an amazing game!
you do a really good job of making the chess interesting. i've seen a ton of chess commentators that do a phenomenal job of explaining but don't do a great job of holding your attention. you did a great job both explaining and engaging
That's where the 1,44 M followers came from!
It is honestly beautiful the way you make the pieces almost talk to each other like sides of a battle field!
I love this series and the commentary is great, good work Levi💪🏼

inspiring and beautifully harmonious, much in keeping with this series
At 14:39, why can't the rook on d4 be taken because once white takes back with the pawn, it loses its queen and black's just up a rook?
Qxd4 Qg5+
White doesn't have to take back immediately, they can check with the queen on g5, then take back next move

The man is simply GOAT .....No other words to say...
Levy, I really enjoyed watching you play chess hustlers (I believe in NYC). You still have it. I think I speak for many of us when I say we'd love to see you in competition again. I saw the video on why you retired. That happens. You came across opponents that were beneath you and your thinking was and is at a higher level. sometimes those adjustments can be tough. Like Magnus though, you most definitely are a theory player. 2431 FIDE is a great score by the way. Many aspire to get there and never do. The fact that you got there is an honor.
Couldn’t understand you at all when I was a complete beginner at chess. But now that I am a bit more of an amateur and understanding the game a bit better, loving the content
Awesome explanation, makes even a low rated as myself player understand. Thank you. You have an innate ability to have anyone understand GM’s games. Keep doing it.

Levon was basically spectating the whole game Lmao.
I would like if in the future you mention which move was the novelty. Great video, tough!
This is a typically excellent video, thank you.
Might one suggest the alternative adjective: "Magnusian" (as opposed to Magnesian [which might have been a zungefehler]).
At any rate, looking forward, as ever, to future videos.
I can't believe that position at 14:45, can it really be right? Rd4+ "The only move that wins, and it's beautiful" ? Isn't black simply winning there with QxR, PxQ, RxQ. What am I missing? - AAAH, that one had already been answered further down here. Qxg5+ first, and only then PxQ. OK, guess it will be a while before I can take on Magnus or Levon.
First time I saw I was thinking the same thing. It will take some time for me too XD
11:34
Why didn't Levon played Bh2+, Magnus's queen is gone.....
There is a pawn on g3

Gotham/Levy is actually pretty good. His only thing is he can tend to go a little fast on some parts and fail to explain a little better where Agad at times even does that but not as often but it doesn't make Agad better, he is just different and caters easier to the common person that is a average chess player. Agad also has a skill of keeping your attention no matter if he is talking about his dog or whatever, but to make that comment is borderline disrespectful because Levy does a great job as well.
You have a truly remarkable gift for explaining very complicated chess positions, loves and ideas. Thanks very much for sharing your knowledge with all of us. Much appreciated!
