    2:52 - Being a movie buff since I was 7, I was really anxious to visit Disney MGM when these commercials started in the late 80s. My parents would eventually take me during a Disney World and Universal Studios trip during the Spring Break of 92. My favorite attractions were the Great Movie Ride and the Animation exhibit, which was hosted by a film with Robin Williams and Walter Cronkite, and you got to tour part of the studio, and see animators at work. They were working on Aladdin at the time.
    What I also remember about that trip was the Embassy Suites we stayed at near the park. I had been allowed to bring my Sega Genesis along with me, and I had it hooked up to the TV in the living room of my suite. There were a lot of kids staying at that hotel, and when word got out I had a Genesis in my hotel room, I became quite popular. After visiting the parks during the day, I would meet up with some of the kids at the pool, then we would go back up to my room to play games before bed.
    Great memories attached to that trip, and the last trip I took with my parents before they separated.

    5:48 - "Will creatures from another planet really look like E.T.?" God, I hope not. That little guy scared the crap out of me when I was 5, and gave me nightmares afterward. I couldn't watch it until it hit VHS many years later when I was older.

    2:19 - One of the most famous and parodied PSAs of the 1980s.

    Excedrin- Interesting idea to have this commercial be split into two parts, the first part where the lady has a headache, then after two commercials, we go back to her and she’s all better. The lady kissing the medicine bottle in the end of the second part is a charming touch.
    Partnership For A Drug Free America PSA- Seeing the defeated expression on the father’s face after his son admits he learned about drugs from his father and then fading to black after makes me wonder what happened after that scenario.
    Welch’s White Grape Juice- I like how this lady has a nice way of making something as simple as White Grape Juice very classy.

    I wish my mom didn't disposed the hand me down McDonald's Food Changeables. My grandma gave me almost a complete set (shipped to us in the Philippines) and I had it until I was 12 years old.

    Ah the classic "I learned it from you!" Even though it was nearly a decade before I was conceived I yell it out at my friends as if I've always been there to see it.

    Food Changeables. Someone in McDonald's marketing department had to be thinking "Hey, Transformers are still fairly popular, but we don't have the licensing rights. Let's make our own version featuring our line of products."

    czcams.com/video/fJkJSHI9LDg/video.html - OMG that Welch's Dinosaur Jelly Glasses commercial! I don't remember seeing the commercial when I was young, but I still have the green brontosaurus one and the Tom and Jerry one. In perfect condition. The colours have never faded; they have been very well taken care of!

    Those McDonald's Food Changable toys really take me back. I've had the Big Mac & the Hotcakes changables. They were a clever design for Happy Meal toys.

    Bob Goen also hosted Blackout for CBS in 1988 as well as The Home Shopping Game in syndication and a dating show in syndication I wasn't aware of called Perfect Match but that one was unfortunately a trainwreck but not because of his hosting.
    The commercials here came from WBBM in Chicago.

    Nobody goes to Sears anymore mate, they're pretty much dead now hehe! 😆

    Partnership For A Drug Free America-classic PSA..dinner table conversations must've been very awkward from that moment onward
    Jake And The Fatman-thankfully neither one were on that boat
    Eagle Potato Chips-Jack probably has a whole cabinet full
    McDonald's-shouldve been a sequel to this ad where he's now in either middle school or high school,and he runs into the first girl he met before he moved
    Sears-"Your money's worth and a whole lot more..enroll at Sears College today!"
    Knots Landing-that guy maybe shouldn't have hooked up with Abby
    Dallas-J.R had that hit coming

      I agree with you on the McDonald's "First Love" ad. My country had the same local version from when they were kids and holding hands to when they became older, holding hands and eating at a McDonalds

    Hi, this is Brandon Sterk. I just really want to say thank you for agreeing to post my recordings, it really means a lot to me and my family. I'm just so happy that these recordings finally have a life again and for the public to see these funny/serious/cringy/cheezy commercials for the first time in decades. I'm also very happy to see more of them in the future. Lastly, have you ever thought about posting early 2000s commercials, I have a bunch of those as well?

      @80sCommercialVault  Před 8 měsíci

      I've sort of set a limit at what I post on this channel to only contain material from 1976-1996. A lot of this has to do with the commercials for prescription drugs that started appearing on TV in 1997.

    I think it’s safe to say that Disney-MGM Studios (now Disney’s Hollywood Studios) and Universal Studios Orlando are vastly different from the parks that they initially opened as. Very few (if any) of the original attractions and buildings at those parks remain.

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  Před rokem +1

      The fact that they got rid of “The Great Movie Ride” which was the signature animatronic attraction of the park located in the equivalent of its castle (The Chinese Theater) is kind of indicative of that.

    That Knots Landing promo has be when Donna Mills left the series and the show jumped the shark, Constantine McCashin leaving eariler in 87 really hurt too.

    It's a CRIME that Eagle Snacks aren't available anymore. Curse you Anheuser Busch for selling off you snack brand. All we have left are Combos and they're pathetic now.

    I think that's the episode of Jake and the Fatman where the fat is found alone on the island, never to be seen again, and the Fatman looks slightly guilty in every subsequent episode.
