Yes as an Avatar fan, I admit that the first movies story was not amazing, it was simple, but I absolutely respect and love the hard work that went behind the world building and biology of Pandora and I can’t wait to see more of it. I don’t care if the story is amazing or not, I want to know more about the world and the cultures than anything else.
The fact that it was simple really helps make it a lot more digestible and makes you appreciate the world at large

It wasn’t even just the story. The forced world building was childish. They colored everything blue and made up a bunch of jibberish words. This movie lacks all creativity while being disguised as something creative.
Also avatar is not only about the story. It's about making that movie. Every movie fans can't even realise the handwork behind the movie making process.

And after a rewatch I can say the first is still enjoyable, so it’s obviously worth a try at least with the second.

Avatar 2 is 3 hours and 10 minutes long, which is 2 minutes longer than King Kong (2005)
That King Kong movie was amazing. Way of water is a shiny balloon filled with narrative excrement.

Saw it last night and my only nit pick was due to our showing being in 3D there’s part of the movies that tear and are noticeable frame drops. Idk how that happens but aside from that visually stunning

I watched the first Avatar 5 times when it came out lol

I have no hatred towards this movie but I don't know if it's going to be such a big success that it warrants putting out 3,4 and 5(allegedly up to 7). I saw the original because of the 3d and the cgi, because it was mind blowing back in 09. The cgi looks good and all but 3d has kind of lost its muster and it feels like they are going for an ACU because that's what everyone thinks they can do with their property now. Everyone was a cinematic universe and if they can build it, good for them. I'm just going to be shocked if this creates such a big commotion that people flock to the theaters for it. I'm going to give it a try after rewatching the 1st but only because I'm willing to give most things a try, I don't see the regular person being excited for a sequel to a movie that is 13 years old and it's biggest thing is world building, CGI, and 3d.

Back in 2009 it was unreal because CGI wasn't as advanced as it is now, even if it barely holds up now

Its still pretty damn great, and honestly for a 2009 movie with so much visual effects at work it manages to look better than most modern MCU films. I mean idk how Avatar ‘barely holds up now’ its still pretty visually convincing and spectacular in terms of how literally everything on screen is CGI.
I’m all in it for the world. Avatar is one of the main reasons why I’m so interested in Aliens, UFOs and it has inspired so much of my world building throughout my writing years.

Apparently China requested avatar to be in theatres again after covid to get people out. Unobtainium is a silly name, but if a NAME of something annoys you that much, movies and stories really must not be for you.
And also, every movie can literally be described as another "its just _____ in ____" is applicable for everything. Disagree? Yeah, thats because its something someone says when they really have no idea about the differences between two movies. [movie where someone is lost] is just finding nemo [in this town].
