For the 93 to 95 years the clutch line is held in with dowel pin for some ungodley reason instead of tightened on with a flared nut like on yours. Incase this helps anyone, took me a half hour to figure it out.
I was kind of wondering I looked up the part& price and I am seeing a slave a roll pin & a O ring, it make total sense now. In one sentence you more helpful than the video
NIce job. Perfect demonstration on how to replace the clutch master/slave cylinder. I just paid 450 to have the same thing done on my '92 W/T. Now I feel like an idiot.
My slave blew out and I needed the truck; if you know how to power shift you can keep driving it until you can fix it. Don’t do it too long or you’ll wreck your synchros. Oh and you can’t do stop and go driving; each time you need to stop you’ll have to shut the truck off to get it back in 1st. Keep in mind you will be moving the truck with the starter; as soon as you crank you’ll move so no one can be in front of you. I just did it today; not something I want to do every day but it’ll get ku out of a jam
I loved the explanation about the "slave" cylynder! That was funny. And your right they'll prolly have to change the phuckin name before it's over with. I'm doing this exact same thing on my 90 model chevy silver truck so this was very helpful. Tysvm.
Nicely done - that was real! Very helpful and I'm thankfull as I'm sure you are for your sister's help - make sure you tell her Canada is thankfull! :)
1995 GMC 1500 5.7L does NOT have a bleeder on the slave cylinder. You just fill up the master cylinder, leave the cap off and pump the clutch for like 15 minutes. You start feeling pedal pressure after a while and it gets stronger and stronger. Also the 1995 has a pin holding the fluid line onto the clutch master cylinder.
I have a 1995 and the slave cylinder has a bleeder on it. I’m in the process of replacing the slave cylinder. I’m work by myself. I was thinking in bleeding it just like you said by leaving the cap off on the master cylinder. Hopefully it will work and won’t need a second person to help me bleed it out
You can also bleed one without a bleeder by clamping the clutch master cylinder in vice and take slave cylinder hook it all up and pump your slave cylinder with a screw driver with top off reservoir it will push air out of the reservoir and pull fluid back In. I did it on a 95 worked like a charm ben h bled the whole system out it on and was done.
1990 Chevrolet K1500 Pickup with 350 cu in gas engine and 5sp manual transmission... So there is a clutch slave cylinder in the path of removing the dead starter motor. Struggled 2.5 days removing the slave cylinder. I tried using a 1/2 in socket to remove after spraying with PB Blaster penetrating oil and heating with a small propane torch. No success so I used a 3 inch diameter cutting wheel on a Harbor Freight cuting tool. A few cc's of master cylinder oil dripped as I removed the slave cylinder. The hydraulic line from the master cylinder was in good shape and the master cylinder reservoir was full. On Satuday, a friend came up and we worked 3 hours and got the starter motor and the slave cylinder installed. We crawled out and reconnected the battery and then the moment of truth... It started but the starter motor was making a grinding noise. So I turned off the ignition. There was no clutch pressure. I pressed a few times but the zerk on top of the slave cylinder had not been loosened yet to bleed out the air. Three minutes later, I started the engine again and all seemed quiet but we did not have time to bleed the line as the positive terminal and the power cable from the starter motor began smoking and over heatind and melting. What did we neglect to do? Should we have tried bleeding the hydraulic line before starting the ignition?? Mike Sullivan
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I absolutely needed this video to teach me how to replace my clutch master cylinder/slave cylinder on my 1992 K1500. This video is outstanding. Of course, I subbed.
Thanks mucho brother. Lost pedal today driving to - fro church. Hard to shift Maximus, unsafe, ordeal to get home. Now, master & slave order w/ Lucas oil, and booya!. Now have an idea how to replace these on truck I’ve had for some 23 yrs. Have done on old jeep pickup, but no on Brutus. Thanks allot amigo.
Thank you for the video. I have a 454 3 speed square body 1983. I just changed my headers and exaust system, and spark plugs and leads. Then went to start it up, and my clutch pedal is now free moving a can shift. Would you think that is a cable or cylinder and the line needs to be bleed. Thanks again!
So I was replacing the starter on a 95 c1500 4.3 manual transmission. I couldn't get starter out without removing the slave cylinder I just removed the bolts and pulled out the slave cylinder. I put the new starter and put the slave cylinder back on now my clutch is loose, do I have to bleed it or did I put it wrong? 😅
Same here. The slave wasn't tightened back up and it was a while before the starter was installed. Now the clutch pedal is rock hard. Zero movement. I was advised to take the slave loose and work the rod for a while, then reinstall. I'm going to give that a go
I did as instructed. Loosened the clutch master cylinder cap. Removed the slave. I had to make a bracket to force the rod back into the master cylinder. Reinstalled the slave cylinder and it worked
in case of emergency - get the r's up to about 1200 force into 1st and shift without clutch should shift between 12 and 1400. It can get you to the napa store.
I recently changed my starter but i needed to take off the bottom piece he switched then put everythin back then my clutch was super hard does that mean i should just add break fluid?? Since i disconnected the line on the bottom
Keep bleeding. I had to bleed mine for over 30 minutes before I had full function. It was a bottle and a half of brake fluid. I needed a vacuum bleeder
Replaced same things on mine and I bleed it out and it got pressure but too much pressure, clutch is super hard can’t even push it down to put it in gear. What could it be or what can I do to fix that problem?
Have the same truck. Short bed stepside. I've seen vids saying you have to twist the master cylinder to get it out. Trying to figure out which way so I don't break anything.
LMMFAO man I hear u there. But it's a part. I don't think it'll get pulled because of naming it....😂😂😂but, like u said who fukin knows and some crybaby out there😅😂
Just came across this video. You just handed me an easy to follow roadmap to fixing my clutch in my 1995 K2500. Thanks a ton.
Good video. You took your time and to explain. Be nice to your helpful sister lol

And the 92. At least mine does.
Mine too. Took me an hour
how did you get the dowel out I got the pin dowel is stuck pretty good
So if mine is leaking from the line can I tighten it, or dose the whole cylinder have to be replaced?
My dad is having to replace...at least...his slave cylinder on his 1993 GMC C1500 Sierra SL...this video will be helping him a lot...thank you!

I also have a 1993 Chevrolet Cheyenne pickup truck. 5 speed manual transmission. Fantastic truck.
I have a 92 cheyenne....KILLER truck..when I'm able to drive it that is..my slave cylinder blew so it's out of order at the moment

Works good when you are doing it by yourself too
Good stuff man, just what I was looking for. Thanks.
Thanks for the walk through, benefited me greatly.

In Japan we call it a ladies cylinder. Lol. Better or worse than calling it a slave cylinder?
Thank you for the video. I have a 1990 Chevrolet Silverado K2500 3/4 ton V8 357 TBI that i am restoring. same color as your truck!
Man id rather do this by you I’m in Michigan cold as hell right now about to do my slave cylinder and clutch reservoir on my 89 Cheyenne
Thanks . Just in time for my repairs on 1988.
This video has been helpful. Still haven't bled mine yet it locks up halfway when you squeeze a little bit of fluid out.
The slave part had me dying 😂respect bro thanks for helping out 🤝🏽
the 4th vid so far and this one did it. thanks! about to do on a 1993 GMC Sierra c1500...
This help out a lot
Thanks man, super helpful!
13 ft lbs torque for the slave cylinder and the master cylinder
Yes, impact is definitely too much
Thank you for the video.

Think this is the same for a 1988 S10 2.5L 5-Speed Manual?
Good work! Thank You!
Hope BLM doesn’t complain to CZcams on the word “slave”.
Thank you. Curious, no antiseize on the slave cylinder?
So I was replacing the starter on a 95 c1500 4.3 manual transmission. I couldn't get starter out without removing the slave cylinder I just removed the bolts and pulled out the slave cylinder. I'm going to give that a go
How did you fix it from being rock hard that’s how mine is rn can’t find a solution for it!
I did as instructed.
Loosened the clutch master cylinder cap.
Removed the slave. I had to make a bracket to force the rod back into the master cylinder.
Reinstalled the slave cylinder and it worked
What’s the master clutch part number?
I need one like yours. The one I get from Autozone is not providing the oil reservoir.
20:45 for bleeding air.
Looks like windy wyoming🤘🤘
What transmission was in this truck?
in case of emergency - get the r's up to about 1200 force into 1st and shift without clutch should shift between 12 and 1400. It can get you to the napa store.
thanks man....explained a lot. !!!!!!!
Do the throwout bearings always contact the clutch fingers on this style slave cylinder?
The rod won’t allow me to put the lower unit on and ideas ? It’s sticking out to far
I recently changed my starter but i needed to take off the bottom piece he switched then put everythin back then my clutch was super hard does that mean i should just add break fluid?? Since i disconnected the line on the bottom
My clutch cable was a 13 now it's stripped and soaking with wd40. And slave cylinder bolts were half inch
Very good.
I replaced master cylinder, hydraulic line, and slave. Still no pressure. Any ideas?
Keep bleeding. I had to bleed mine for over 30 minutes before I had full function. It was a bottle and a half of brake fluid. I needed a vacuum bleeder

@ericro8761 did you figure out your problem about clutch being too hard? I'm going through the same thing on my 95 gmc
@@oscartarango2361 wrong slave cylinder was my issue
Thanks brother
Thanks
I have a 91 k1500 I hope it will be this easy tomorrow
Every step is easy thanks.
Have the same truck. Short bed stepside. I've seen vids saying you have to twist the master cylinder to get it out. Trying to figure out which way so I don't break anything.
Hey did you have troubles bleeding your line
