  • At the threshold of a new millennium, local historian Roger Frost reviewed the history of a small weaver town, Burnley and examined what effect the last 100 years had had on it's citizens.
Who could have imagined, as the people of Burnley prepared to celebrate the dawn of the 20th Century the momentous changes about to take place, in industry, education and housing, through to sport and entertainment. We reflect on these events with the help of the people who experienced the them and who share with us a century of triumphs and tragedy, war peace, hardship and good times.
Written by local historian Roger Frost and incorporating interviews with local characters, we peer through the mists of time. Beautiful illustrated from Burnley Library.
Subjects include the textile industry, business and retail, sport and entertainment, transport, education and housing.
A delightful record of Burnley's past.
This second video shows the industrialisation of Burnley, from wool to cotton weaving.

the local population. i worked at the burnley express and also at nighfreight on accounting projects. the local workers were utterly workshy, to the point of being childish. i would never open a business up there with that attitude.@@guyver155

and ironically one of the nighfreight workers who was there when i was there and was a dosser, i recognised in a burnley poverty video on utube claiming how hard he has it and how he is unemployed etc and its all not his fault, but he was sacked for stealing. they are total bullshitters.@@guyver155
