How do you cope with homesickness when you're on the road and away from family?
I don't. When I miss them, idc where I'm at, I'm going home ASAP. Usually the next load I get, I'm going to or through the house.
Leaving family behind is one of the worst parts about the job. It hurts like hell knowing they need you at home when you're thousands of kms away trying to provide for them.
yogi is another king of the road, because, making it in a 3393 km jorney and having family problems miles away, he is a family hero
It's never easy being away from family, it's easily one of the toughest parts of the job. Yogi's a true trucking legend!

I recommend to everyone, in case of trouble in the family, do not notify the driver of a truck who is away from home, his thoughts will only dwell on that misfortune and sometimes he will not be able to concentrate on the road or in extremely stressful conditions he may do reckless things .
I know a case of a driver from my country whose wife died, he drove thousands of km non-stop without complying with the driving schedule legislated in Europe, he was stopped in traffic for control, he received a huge fine for not following the driving schedule , at a distance of 200-250 km from the first control, he was stopped again and again fined, unfortunately the driver was on the ground, he turned the truck and climbed with the truck over the control car, his wife died, he in prison, sad !

I did Float work in port Hedland wa (oversize) i go home very 10 to 12 weeks for 31/2 year came home empty house and empty bank account it's a shit Feeling,but there is always someone Worse than you.
