My mother used to say “turn that bip bap noise off” as soon as she heard them loud drums
They saw Rap music as some kid stuff, & the Hip Hop culture itself was hated cause it had so many street people living it
Hip hop culture is really just Black street NYC culture that spread out
This is what my Uncle said too lol
My moms would yell "Turn that goddamn bang bang music down!".
I used to blast my UltraMagnetic MCs "Critical Beatdown" album(record and tape) before going outside into them Bronx streets. And blast it on a peaceful Sunday before going outside to play football in my projects. The bass was CRAAZZZYYYY!!!
@@Mr.Taylor56 Classic intro with the Breakbeat on “Ego trippin’”
That is a PERFECT example💯
@@RealDealyat least when I was coming up in the 90s rap music was everywhere so they didn’t have much hate on it. My mom love rap music when I was growing up she didn’t told me too turn that shit off she let me play it. She will play it I remember she had a lot cd in tapes was rap in r&b. My grandma from my mom side she hated rap in my her sister who my aunt didn’t like rap but my grandma from my dad side she didn’t have nothing against rap she listen too it at times some my uncle listen too rap in they older some of my cousin make rap music..
My folks told me about those days damn we have fallen away
0:00 man for a quick second I thought that was Martin Lawrence 👀😭😭💀
Tha Don was the same with Run-DMC. He definitely wasn't ready... The crowd reactions left him *shook*
The same with Curtis Blow too.
This is cool af. 😂👏🏼
Amazing that Godfrey is old enough to remember those times. This guy is so young looking.
Master Gee might've misremembered his interview with Don Cornelius... Don said, "All you guys seem educated, you know that-.." then Master Gee interjected with "We know what's happenin man.. The rap is a science." The whole interview is on youtube
Yoooo I slept on this episode gotta re-watch ❤❤❤❤❤🙌🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great Memories 😂
Kurtis blow was the 1st to sang live on soul train. He Forced Don Cornelius to let him do it. Shout out to Kurtis blow💯✊🏾
Aye man Mr. Cornelius wasn't down for the BS 😆. He's had a couple moments like this. That I know of. Saturdays use to be Thee Shyt mane. Cartoons, soul train, a lil sabado gigante on the Don Fransisco side of the game.
Exactly I miss the soul train 🎉
Great episode
Great story
❤
Episode 404🔊🔥🙌🏾🚄🌫🌫🌫🌫 soooooouuuuulllll train
@2:25 OG Roker lol good call
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Jersey City baby
The sugarhill gang had real lyrics back in the days, they were nothing like the new rappers of today with all the gunplay.
Big Bank Hank stole all His lyric from GrandMaster Caz of the Cold Crush
That shit was ass out of respect people don’t say much cause they elders of hip hop but let’s be honest rap back then was nursery rhymes and robotic flows
You do know that biggest rappers in the past ten years haven’t been talking about gunplay.
@@bigmangmcHank didn't steal anything. Caz gave Hank permission to use those rhymes
@@bigolbabyhuey no he did not
Don owned Soul Train lock, stock and smoking barrel and he was rich too.
Lol Dante
RIP Patrice "There are no gay black pirates in society."
After learning that Big Hank stole his lyrics from Casanova, I have to admit that I have mixed feelings about Sugarhill gang
FIRST OFF HE DIDN'T STEAL IT FROM CAZ, HE HAD CAZ PERMISSION, CAZ GAVE HIM THE BOOK OF LYRICS.
,BUT HE DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS GOING TO BLOW UP LIKE THAT AND SOUND DO DAM GOOD, NOW THESE ARE THE ORIGINAL PIONEERS IN THE RAP GAME THAT PUT IT ON WAX AND SOLD MILLIONS.
AND NO FRANKIE CROCKER AND DON CORNELIUS DIDN'T CARE TO MUCH FOR RAP MUSIC, BUT THEY COULDN'T PASS ON IT BECAUSE OF THE POPULARITY, OH YOU KNOW I HAD MY EAR TO THE RADIO, TRYING MY BEST TO LEARN THE LYRICS WHICH AT THAT TIME WAS AWESOME, I CAN'T STAND TO HEAR PEOPLE SPEAKING BAD ABOUT THE FIRST RAP SONG THAT CAME OUT, EVEN MY ELDERS IN THE FAMILY WOULD ASK US TO PLAY IT, ESPECIALLY MIKE'S PART ABOUT THE CHICKEN, THEY DIDN'T THEY THING ON THE SONG AND I LOVED IT, AND SAW DAM NEAR EVERY ONE TRYING TO LEAN THE SONG OR LISTEN TO IT, NOW YOU HAVE PEOPLE BEING VERY DISRESPECTFUL AND TALKING BAD ABOUT THE SUGAR HILL GANG, FROM THE STREETS TO MAINSTREAM, IF IT WAS BAD, WHY DID ALL THE OTHER RAP ARTISTS LEAVE THE STREETS AND GO MAINSTREAM?
NOW THEY AIN'T NOTHING BUT TWO FACED HATERS, AND LOOK BAD TALKING ABOUT HANK MIKE AND MASTER GEE.
THEY NEED TO STOP IT, ESPECIALLY MELLIE MEL
He probably knew all the destruction it would end up causing
Nor should he had them on, hip hop is neither music nor has soul.
