To my mind, the very coolest part of, obviously, a phenomenal otherworldly performance is that relaxed, low-key response to the audience’s applause. “Yep, that’s just the way we do it around here.” Super smooth, Mr. Steinmeyer, super smooth.

As a frustrated 2nd rate horn blower and life long USMC infantryman I lived and heard Dave play several times live. This man was something God placed his hands upon and said son make music for me now. I have always played trombone and trumpet, sometimes getting paid and sometimes out in the middle of nowhere on deployment, but never like Dave.

Another thrilling performance from the golden days of the AON. Steinmeyer was a great player and leader of of phenomenal musicians.

I was an aspiring trombone player that never got very good but heard a lot of pros in concert including Steinmeyer. He played a Send in the Clowns solo that "must" have come from a trumpet but nope it was him on the t-bone. Some of the USAF Airman of Note trumpet players told me afterward they'd look at him occasionally and think "he has the same size lips as us." He is phenomenal.
