Had surgery for cancer a couple years ago during university. So glad everything went well, Sally!! If I could go back, I'd tell myself to take things one day at a time and that it's okay to be frustrated and annoyed that you aren't recovering as fast as you want to. You got this :)

I had surgery last year for the same cancer. they took my entire thyroid and 49 lymph nodes, so my scar reaches across all the way to the back side of my neck on the right. So glad your surgery went well and there was little pain! My nerves were badly damaged for a long time, I hope no more symptoms like that show up.

Sally, you are truly such a ray of sunshine! I got dx with cancer last year of my appendix (had surgery to remove it) and am under surveillance now. I struggled SO much with the dx and to see how positive you are is truly inspiring!

this video was so poignant in all the right places, its so lovely seeing your smile and how much your family cares about you - i really loved when your sister took over - i don't have a sister but two younger brothers and i know that if anything happened to them i would be inconsolable and barely articulate so props to your sister for helping with the video! you didn't have to document what you did, but its really appreciated that you took the time to do so. i thought the clip from your perspective when you were alone after surgery showing the curtain enclosing you and all the machines was particularly touching. i was briefly hospitalised for an eye infection age 8/9 and i've never forgotten the feeling of being surrounded by constant beeps and hums and voices so that really brought me back. i'm applying for medical school this year so your initial video was so interesting to me and this one was equally so. i think you'll be a brilliant physician one day - all my love to you and wishing you a speedy recovery.
Happy to see another post! Was just given a preliminary diagnosis of my biopsy and they’ve officially diagnosed lymphoma. Final diagnosis still coming to determine which subtype. Hope you keep this awesome positive attitude and have the energy to keep posting

I was in your position 3 years ago. My post op was painful though. I felt like I couldn't move my neck for a few days, and talking would hurt me allot. So I am glad you're recovering well!!!! Good luck on the thyroid medication journey.
Breathing techniques help a great deal, pre surgery to try to help your body relax while going under, and then post surgery too! Help detox your body from the stress of surgery, and the impacts of trauma. ❤❤❤sending you light for your journey. Watching yours helps me heal my own a little bit too!❤

It's a little late now but as a former nursing assistant if you leave those CHG wipes open, they'll be freezing cold by the time you use them. It's best to keep them closed, especially if they've been in a warmer :)
So glad yours went well. I was in ICU for a week but this is extremely rare. Suffered rare complications. My scar is huge goes all the way up to my ear (had a lot of cancer removed and golf ball sized lymph nodes removed) and 6 months later it looks amazing considering. Wishing you a speedy recovery. ❤

Praying for you! Just found your channel and I’m certainly praying for you. I had breast cancer last year, and had surgery December 6th. I’m doing great and only required radiation. I now take daily medication to inhibit my estrogen. Best of luck to you!🙏🏼
Go girl. FYI, I had a similar right thyroidectomy @4 months ago DX with a well differentiated papillary CA luckily with no LN mets and therefore not requiring any further treatment. I am a retired physician but I was a PATIENT with some apprehension that day. Obviously , I was aware of what the procedure and expectation were but I can understand others going through and feeling afraid. I am also aware of your worry about your classes but it will work out in the end . You were right when you said that most likely you would gain a lot from your experience helping you in your medical career in the future. You may have some hoarse voice for 3-4 weeks and slight but mild dysphagia but it gets better . Keep that ice compress for a few days. Good luck
I'm an almost 5 year survivor so I know what you are going through. You have a great attitude and family that support you. You are a lucky girl! One question......why didn't your sister just bring the teabag and make it for you there? LOL
I was born without a thyroid and I want to share you some tips I have gathered in my life. I want you to know that friends and family will be your strongest assets for keeping yourself in control. They can help you figure out if you need to get your TSH, T3, and T4 levels checked. I have difficulties concentrating on things, controlling my emotions, and feeling incredibly tired when my levels are not right. These have always been my key indications and I hope that you can utilize this information! I know that medical school is tough, but I know you can make it through if you keep checking your levels. I have mine ran every 3-4 weeks, and so far I am back in range. I recommend that you also follow this diagnostic regimen, especially since you are in medical school and I care for your well-being. Anyway, go kick cancer’s ass and become an amazing doctor!
