The increasing galvanization of liberal and conservative neuroses is pretty spot-on. We used to use the metaphor and terms of left and right "wings", but the core of the Democrat and Republican establishment base is less like two wings on opposite sides of the same bird, and more like two feathers on the same (right) wing, representing an ever-decreasing number of actual people in the country.
Edit: Also, the bit about how reactionary conservatives now are trying to hermetically seal the discourse so that the politically correct view of American history is 50 years behind the curve is the perfect, final "fuck you" from the Boomer generation.
They received a once-in-a-millennium post-war economic boom coupled with one of the most extensive social welfare programs in the history of the West, essentially giving them, as a collective group, the world on a silver platter. And they repaid the society that enabled that unprecedented quality of life by systematically dismantling it due to a combination of not wanting to pay the tax cost, and not wanting people of color to enjoy any of the same comforts they were given. They expanded consumerism and resource consumption to levels so immense that 90% of us are going to die from climate catastrophe in the next 25 years and they're still hungry for more consumer products.
And their hatred of stuff like CRT is just an extension of their unwillingness to accept any of the actual hardships or downsides of life, like paying taxes because you live in a society that's filled of other people and their lives matter just as much as yours does. Not content with successfully avoiding paying their fair share for a decent society, they want to avoid the inevitable fade into irrelevance that comes with getting old. They would rather burn the world, keep politics and culture on their terms right until the clock runs out, and happily condemn all of human life to extinction, as long as they get to hold onto the reins until it all ends.

I'm going to have to disagree. Modern culture war began with Nixon's southern strategy. I guess you could argue that Nixon was to some degree a neoliberal, but I'm not sure if that's what the Christ *man* means.
Civil rights also culminated in neolib victory, where the reward for getting beaten and lynched was the equal opportunity to get college debt, shop, and drinking out of water fountains. No housing commitment, no wealth redistribution, nothing that actually altered the power dynamic. It was left to the markets and "meritocracy."
Similar to reconstruction after the Civil War. Seems like history rhymes a lot.

Felix too often makes uninformed exaggerations and expresses them with certainty. When WIll mentioned Matt Bruenig looking up the UATX address and finding "just a house" Felix says they found the cheapest house on Zillow. The stately house at 2112 Rio Grande is $2.6 million. It is the impressive building you would expect of a successful private law office, or a university president. UATX still won't be anything, of course, but don't spread misinformation. There is nothing cheap about that building.
Mansions in Texas are made of plywood and sheet rock, just like all the other houses. So it may not be inexpensive, but it is a cheap house.
