- Producing lots of baits often takes a bit of time when you only have a single cavity mould. So for this video i wanted to try some new materials to me, to make a multi cavity injection moulds for soft plastic baits.
I have used aluminium and polyurethane resin before to make fishing lures but not as a mould material and despite requiring some care and attention in the making stage the resulting moulds are really great.
Materials
Polymer clay; there are two main brands of this Fimo and sculpey both easy to get hold of from art shops or online.
the resin I used was Easyflo 60 from ebay it can be bought small amounts normally
aluminium powder was again bought from eBay but is standard filler for lots of resins
Some companies like Makelure.com produce ready mixed resins with Aluminium powder, like VAC 50
Soft plastic liquid can be bought from a number suppliers
Europe www.brightbaits.com
UK Lurefactos.co.uk lure-solutions.co.uk
USA Lureparts.com Makelure.com Bearsbaits.com jannsnetcraft.com

Hola Paul saludos desde argentina. Excelentes trabajos
That's awesome I really want to learn to make molds it would help me with my non profit kids fishing group. I make weights which that's easy. But I got all them molds when I was working being Disabled it takes longer. But I'm gonna try to figure a way to make baits. I wish I still had my cutting tools they were taken 5 years ago but a friend gets small planks of wood we're gonna cut thin for making fire starters I'm making stuff to help make fires then will give them away. But every year I get sicker so next year I'm hoping to have every thing of mine sold and only have rods reels tackle and camping stuff then I'll start buying stuff to make more things to give away while I can. But I love your channel I'm learning to make baits Rick weights next I want to take thicker planks cut stripes and start trying to make wood baits or try. Lol. But great video god bless.
Awsome!!!!
Good video...
Hi Paul ... Quite a few soft plastics these days are being made with foil inside to make it flash like the sides of a bait fish. It would be great if you could if you could try to replicate this.
Add some salt to the soft plastic. Your work and videos are awesome 👏
I have taken some ideaa by your videos and thinking of making a aluminium mold with some cnc-machines, but thats something in future :)
this is great! I recently started making my own soft plastics, and i was wondering how to make an injection mold! I wonder if this would work with plaster?
great work bud.🍺 they'd look good on my lrf setup ;)
i have doing some drop shotting with them for perch
The Handmade Fisherman how much would a couple of these cost I’m willing to pay?
I need a box larger than my massive Werm….. lol ;)
Insted of the polemor kley worms, can you use real softplastics?
Love this video well done!
You can try to make some big soft plastic swim-baits
bjb tc-1630 urethane its awesome
Did I here lizard at the end if so thanks so much Paul
Muy buen video
thanks
The Handmade Fisherman cómo se ase un señuelo Crank bait
Cool..
Maybe you can make a poper without electric gear.
try a newt (salamander) they are basicly a worm with a head and small hands and feet. you can even give them some action and they swim like most low action shads.
Hi,
Can you try to do a method feeder?
Great work
I would love to learn how to make something like at a Tasmanian Devil fishing lure
Thanks for showing my comment
Will you do the same job with minnows ?
I think you have the plastic worm method mastered Paul, looking exellent! , how about some plastic drop shot baits?
i use these for drop shotting, but it is creatures next, cheers
For the first half of the mold try melting oil based modeling clay. It should form around the details so you don't have to spend as much time cleaning up around the rings.
i thought about just sitting in the semi cured resin but I cannot see this being easy to control with more than one worm, melting clay may be similar but probably more controllable, i have done this with chavant before today for simple objects, but you still have to clean it off. there are always lots of options and it is good to try a few out cheers
Can you try to make a hard bait mouse that is like a swimbait.
To get the clay off in one piece, put it on the fridge or freezer to harden the clay a bit
yes a great idea, something i wished i had thought about myself thanks, will give it go next time

I might make a more modernised version of the the stormy petrel lure which is a vintage lure that was meant to be a topwater lure that blows bubbles and causes disturbances in the water. It also looks like pacman lol
i have just had to look that up, it is a very odd lure but looks fun, thanks and good luck with it
Hello, What's the name of the "plastic plates" for making the "disgn" for your worm ( at 1:35 ) ? Sorry i'm not English. It should help me to make small scales in really fin aluminium' tape too no ?
nice vid did you get my message about latex surface mice and how to make them? what did you say those rib things were as i cant see them in list under vid as i might get some as they be handy for some the lures i mess with. thanks for any help

yes, i did see your message, it is not something i am working on at the moment but may in the future
thanks for link
it was idea from that last vid of your what to make bit. I saw them making floating lure so you could make frogs mice and such was thinking of using that plastic you melt in water to make moulds so could try if fail just remake it
Hi!I liked your creativity, but I would have bought a better syringe to fill the plastic. In my opinion it would be more convenient!
I keep think about making an injector or buying one but with these moulds i am not sure if i would get any benefit but that may be because i haven't used one, thanks
I have learned from you a new, thank you!
