    Even with his 12 PH.D. s, I'm not sure if Dipper's parents would consider Ford a good mentor when you take into account everything Stan's done using his name

    I always liked that Ford offered the apprenticeship before Dipper saves him from the security drones. It shows how much though he'd put into. Most scenes like that usually seem to be spur of the moment or happen after they accomplish a deed that proves their worth to their teacher. But Dipper had already proven his worth and the rescue just added certainty to it.

    • @TheDeathmail
      @TheDeathmail Před 2 lety +73

      And don't forget, even though Dipper's fear endangered him, he didn't blame the boy and worried about him first. Plus, he trusted Dipper to finish the important mission quite easily....

    When Dipper expresses he's never been apart from Mabel, Ford's reaction is "Isn't it suffocating". Goes to show you how different Stanley and Stanford's relationship is compared to Dipper and Mabel.

    • @dracoangelrojo
      @dracoangelrojo Před 3 lety +218

      The thing is...he's not exactly wrong: twins' relationships can get suffocating when you're not allowed to be yourself and be forever forced to stay together. And it happened to Dipper before during the series. Also, honestly, Stan's and Ford's relationship when they were kids was far, far healthier and more balanced than Dipper's and Mabel's.

    • @TheDeathmail
      @TheDeathmail Před 2 lety +92

      @@dracoangelrojo Dipper and Mable have a very healthy relationship... sure, there are a few ups and downs... but their relationship overall is good....
      But that's WHY it was scary. It's why Stan and Mabel did such stupid things after finding out. Sure, once they calmed down, they became supportive... but when they were going to lose their support, the first thing they did was panic....

    • @dracoangelrojo
      @dracoangelrojo Před 2 lety +58

      @@TheDeathmail They don't, the relationship is completely unbalanced by Mabel forcing her agenda on Dipper constantly and everything Dipper gets in return is mockery and getting thrown under the bus. They love each other, yes, but one thing is that and then there's having a healthy relationship, which, sadly, it's not the case.
      Panicking is normal, what is not normal is screw their siblings' dreams up and then expect them to instantly forgive them in return. None of them were supportive of their siblings' dreams and decisions because those were against what they wanted, with the difference that Stan payed consequences the hard way while Mabel got what she wanted at the expense of Dipper giving up his dreams for her, again.

      @gregjenkinson7512 Před 2 lety +16

      @@dracoangelrojo you make some good points but honestly I think Dipper and Mabel have a normal healthy relationship. Yeah they tease each other but that's what siblings do. Heck later on Mabel even tells Dipper it's ok for him to stay if it's what he really wants but he decides not too

    • @dracoangelrojo
      @dracoangelrojo Před 2 lety +30

      @@gregjenkinson7512 I am sorry but I can't agree with that: yes, they love each other, but it's not a normal regular relationship because it's incredibly unbalanced, sometimes even downright toxic: Dipper is the one forced to be the mature sibling and hold entire responsibilty for everything Mabel does while Mabel doesn't appreciate anything for Dipper, breaks his trust constantly, forces her will and desires on to him at his expense, sometimes even at his own life, and throws all his unconditional support and love for her back in his face, ditching him and creating his insecurities at any chance she gets. Yes, teasing each other is what siblings do, the problem is that Mabel doesn't allow Dipper to tease her back (she litterally got insecure and started to bully him during an entire episode because he won a chess game she wasn't even paying attention to and blamed Dipper for it), but then she gets a free pass to make fun of him and even insult him constantly, even after when he litterally tells her it's hurting him. Like I said, the problem in this relationship is it's incredibly unbalanced.
      Also, yes, Mabel said it's okay for him to stay if he decides it...except she KNOWS she's lying and she doesn't mean it because she knows Dipper is going to say no: Mabel says it's okay after Dipper giving up the apprenticeship was the solo reason why she agreed to leave her bubble in the first place after replacing her twin, and openly refusing to come back, to the point of threat him that unless he convinced her to come back by giving up the apprenticeship, she would kick him out in the apocalypse and replace him with Dippyfresh. She is obviously not okay with it because her actions speak louder than her words, and she knows Dipper isn't going to break his promise one minute after he made it...in the middle of the apocalypse where his first worry is to survive and make it to their birthday as he said himself in the finale.

    It's kind of amazing how Far Ford has come from shutting himself in the basement all day to having such faith in these kids and Dipper in particular (but Mabel, too, he gives this fond little anecdote about how she's so likeable and doesn't need to be babysitted), to the point of wanting to contribute to their upbringing and just spare them his own dissapointments/ help Dipper accomplish his dreams.
    He might not be as warm, involved, or as interested in goofy family bonding activities as Stan is, but he's the first to recognize the need to give them their own space and nurture them as individuals.
    If only they could get along, their approaches might actually complement each other...
    I guess it was inevitable as Dipper is such at cute lil bugger and persistently wormed his way into the man's heart... it's in contexts like this that you get a rare glimpse at the side of Dipper that's just an excited young kid that wants/needs/likes to be praised and encouraged.

    Does anyone else wish that Dipper would’ve taken Ford’s apprenticeship? I mean, sure he would’ve missed Mabel, but it’s clear how much he loves mystery. It’s easy to see how drawn he is to adventure and the weirdness of Gravity Falls. It’s like it calls him. And he could always just talk to Mabel over the phone, you know? I think he would’ve loved to have grown up raised by Ford. They have such a nice dynamic, and Dipper doesn’t share that kind of bond with Stan or Mabel. They make fun of him all the time, and Ford is like the best friend Dipper never had. I think being treated as a respected individual by someone who has faith in him and having the time of his life fighting monsters and stuff would’ve been really good for him, but whatever. Sibling love and all that stuff 😩🤙

    • @dracoangelrojo

      Trust me, you're not the only one, there's many people that honestly think that the apprenticeship would have being incredibly benefitial for Dipper, and not just in academic terms, but also emotional and social terms. This kid explained how he loves Gravity Falls because:
      1. He loves mystery and the supernatural, something he explains he doesn't have at home and where he says how boring Piedmont is.
      2. He has many friends in Gravity Falls, something he also said he didn't have back home and we have seen in the flashbacks that he's the outcast while Mabel is part of the popular kids, and seeing how she treats him in the Shack, the school only makes it worse.
      3. He has his mentor, best friend, grunkle and hero treating him with both love and respect, something that, honestly, never came from Mabel, Stan or anyone.
      Staying in Gravity Falls wouldn't have just given him an incredible future studying what he loved, it would have made him happy and more social. And it's not like staying in Gravity Falls could have stopped him from still keep his bond with Mabel: there's always phone calls, video chats, weekends, vacations, heck, Mabel could have moved in Gravity Falls and go to school while Dipper took Ford's apprenticeship, so they could still live together and have none of them sacrificing anything, there were a MILLION ways to make this work.

      Eh, personally I don't think it was a good idea at the time. He's twelve; that's not old enough to decide what you want to do for the rest of your life. And at the time Ford had *extremely* unhealthy ideas about family and isolationism, so he would've probably rubbed those off on Dipper. I would be more open to him taking it when he's a little older, like when he graduates high school, or even college. Especially since by then Ford and Stan have worked out their issues and stopped being jerks to each other.

      @tomsky4751 Před 2 lety +27

      Yeah I do! Mable honestly is honestly so horrible to dipper making him sacrifice literally everything for her own selfish ends. Her Puppetshow, her mermaid crush which could’ve been done without getting him fired (also taking a photo of the cpr as potential blackmail to further her horrible actions), the time travel situation for waddles. Dipper sacrificed so much for her and mable never returns the favor HELL BILL CIPHER HIMSELF CALLS HER OUT ON IT! And now denying dipper his potential destiny as fords apprentice just to keep him with her. Dipper would be far better off with ford if you ask me. The only time we see mable do anything nice for dipper… is in a flashback to their time prior to gravity falls in mables wierdmageddon prison ball. Which isn’t enough to justify her actions. In DD, Dipper is the one who shows Wendy his birthmark.
    In NWHS, the artists show Dipper’s birthmark in the portal scene. In DAMVTF, they show it when he’s attached to the security craft.
    And when Ford notes that all the switches have been broken for a longs time, when Dipper presses a button, they somehow reactivate.
    The only two times that Dipper’s birthmark was shown naturally was in the presence of alien technology from the same spacecraft.

She could have stayed in Gravity Falls with Stan (I don't think Ford would have trully kicked him out), she could have gone to high school with Candy and Grenda and still remain close to her brother. That way both twins would have gotten what they needed and wanted, they both would have been happy and they both would have developed and progressed as people. Forcing Dipper to give up everything he loves just to please Mabel and keep her in her comfort zone is just delaying the inevitable and making it much worse.

      Draco7thWarrior You make a good point, I bet she could have been talked into it after awhile but her two biggest fears when she made the deal with Bill was she was, at the moment, scared about going to high school and she was worried because Dipper hadn’t been there for her. So she might hesitate because if she stayed, Dipper would be with Ford and still wouldn’t be at high school with her and she’d likely see him a lot less than if they both went home. But it is kind of the best compromise for everyone so maybe he could have convinced her.

      @dracoangelrojo Před 4 lety +16

      @@TW-sh2un I don't blame her for being scared at that point, she was very vulnerable, but what rubs me in the wrong way is what she did after she found out she was tricked by Bill: she doesn't even try to come out of the bubble by herself, she knows and sees what's going on in Gravity Falls, that her friends and family are getting tortured and could be dead because what she accidentally caused, and instead of trying to fix her mistake and save her family...she replaces her brother with a mocking copy of him, and even rubs it in his face after he litterally crosses hell just to save her.
      What should have been done is, after Weirdmaggedon was over, both twins sit down and talk things out and reach a compromise between the two of them, not just Mabel being perfectly happy with Dipper sacrificing something he loves for her again (yes, she offered him to stay...after throwing a huge tantrum where she refused to come out of Bill's trap until Dipper gave in, you think Dipper would risk to break his promise a minute after he made it in that situation where they were litterally in the middle of the apocalypse, she knew perfectly well he was going to say no, she was just making sure he didn't go back in his word).
      Mabel ditches Dipper constantly just to be with her friends, so I don't see how Dipper being with Ford would change that much, it feels very hypocrite that she does that to Dipper every time but she gets jealous or needy the minute her brother has someone to share his interests and time with. Yes, she would see Dipper a bit less (not much less, as I said, Mabel ditches Dipper to be with her friends already), but they would still be living in the same house every day and share every free day. Both of them would have each other and both of them would be doing what they wanted, both of them would be happy. @@jayfeatherthesnarkymedicin8160 Yeah, totally agree with that. Don't get me wrong, I do understand Mabel's feelings and being terrified to grow up, very less alone, but it's incredibly unfair to see how the show constantly puts Dipper through the mud and guilt trips him into giving in to satisfy Mabel's whimsies every single day, and for once, for once that he wins some confidence, and the love and respect of his mentor, the hero he admired through the entire summer and his new best friend, almost a father figure, and he gets the offer of fullfil his dreams alongside him, Mabel has to throw a tantrum and cause the end of the world. And before anyone jumps to my throat saying Mabel was being manipulated, true, she didn't know it was Bill, but she still took something that she knew that belonged to Dipper (like she constantly did with the journal, you think she would have learnt to NOT to do that after Sock Opera), and gave it to Blendin, someone that tried to kill her twice. And for what? For trapping Gravity Falls in a magic bubble to create an endless summer...which is basically what happened, except for the torture and killing parts.
      I love Mabel's personality, but her character is written in a terrible way, specially compared to Dipper, and her arc is basically resolved so she, instead of growing as a character and sacrificing for her brother, like Dipper always does for her, the narrative and the characters bend over just so she can get what she wants. Dipper sacrificed his dreams and everything he loved, the opportunity of his life, just to make Mabel happy. Mabel on the other hand got everything she wanted, even the fricking pig going back home with her, after acting like a selfish brat through the entire show and placing everyone in mortal danger, and got away with it, and instead of facing her problems of not learning to not to depend so much on Dipper and letting him go to find his own life and happiness, she just forced him to sacrifice his own happiness just to make sure she's comfortable. Nevermind that Dipper will go back home to be shunned out, bullied and ditched by his classmates, and probably ditched by Mabel whenever she has better plans with her friends back home since she's one of the popular kids, as long as she is happy and gets what she wants, nothing else matters.
      The best ending would have been that Mabel had allowed Dipper to stay in Gravity Falls, that way both kids faced their own challenges but found their own happiness, and still kept their unbreakable bond, proving that despite growing up, they won't grow appart and will still be there for each other. It baffles me that stories always force to make it look as dreams are the opposite of family and you're forced to choose between the two. Family should support you to fullfil your dreams, not holding you back.

      Yeah, Dipper always agreed to everything Mabel asked of him, albeit reluctantly. Also, Mabel’s attitude towards Dipper were awful in basically every episode. In the Sock Opera, Mabel begs Dipper to win over a random stranger she just met, even though she knows full well how important finding out who the Author was to Dipper. Dipper reluctantly agrees and when he tells Mabel that Bill took over his body, she just laughed it off. Like, Dipper could lose his body permanently (in the real life Journal 3, Bill said that he would throw Dipper’s body off the water tower and make it look like suicide after he was done with the Sock Opera, which is really messed up) but I guess that didn’t matter to Mabel. And in the same episode when Dipper was struggling with figuring out the computer’s password, Bill freakin’ Cipher appears to him and calls Mabel out on being selfish (as I mentioned) and never returning the favor every time he sacrificed something for her. A literal demon called her out. A demon. In the Time Traveler’s Pig, she guilt trips Dipper into missing the shot just so she can get Waddles back, even though she could’ve picked literally any other pig since she didn’t know Waddles for that long. When Dipper was giving CPR to Mermando, she took a picture and said, “ha, blackmail!”, which is just... why would you do that? Also, the cooler. You’re telling me that she just HAD to steal the one from the pool, instead of borrowing one from the shack or literally anywhere else? Hell, she could’ve told Dipper about it and the two of them could’ve worked together. But of course, she didn’t do that, resulting in Dipper losing his job. In Dipper and Mabel vs the Future, after Dipper accepts Ford’s offer, she wasn’t happy and excited for him like most people would, instead she’s hurt and jealous. And the most obvious, she kept making fun of Dipper to the point his feelings were hurt. And let’s not forget that Dipper is insecure so the teasing hurts him a lot which results in him trying to fix that problem. That happened to him three times. All because of Mabel. Oh, and she never apologized for anything she did wrong. Like, she thinks that, “oh, I don’t have to apologize for any bad thing I do, lol”. Stan also did tease Dipper, but he at least apologized! And Mabel was the direct contributor of Weirdmageddon. And she created “Dippy Fresh”. A Dipper she claimed had a cooler personality and was supportive of her at all times, or something like that. What really bugged me about that was that she said it as if Dipper wasn’t supportive of her at all. He constantly sacrificed stuff for Mabel, just to make her happy. And she tried to get Dipper and Candy together, even though she supposedly learned her lesson on not tampering with other people’s lives. And then she went ahead and blamed it all on Dipper, even though Mabel was the one who started it all. Like, how twisted is her logic?

      Whale Sharko The apprenticeship is the argument that irritates me to no end. Mabel was just a scared young girl. Who just had reality crashing down on her. High school seemed like it would be terrible once she realized. Now her friends wouldn't attend her birthday party. Worst of all.....
      Dipper would usually stick it through with her. Stan even reminded Mabel that Dipper would still be there for her. Dipper even says in the episode that they’ve never really been apart. If given the news about Dipper accepting the apprenticeship on the day she learned that terrible stuff she found out on that day, her reaction would be understandable. You’d probably think so too if you were in her perspective. Mabel thought she was gonna lose her most reliable partner, her own twin who once swore to never leave her. She couldn't have her brother there to support her at high school. She would be alone. She was afraid of this and didn't want her childhood to end. Okay, then here’s my question for you. Are you an excited twelve-year old kid who hasn’t seen the harsh truths of the world and wanted to explore? Are you naive and insecure that one day, your sibling will leave you and that the two of you will forever be distant and cold towards each other, just like how your great uncles were? I bet that you’re not. Have a nice day.

  • @rachelmariecaberapacheco7942

    I know everyone keeps saying how Dipper should have take the offer and everythign but...is it correct? I mean, the reason he was able to go so far, was cause Mabel was with him, she may be a goof ball most of the time, but the times those worked toguether, its when they were the most succesfull, they complement each other.
    Besides, we know Dipper is not very social, he tends to over think, a lot! And if he spend all his time with Ford in a basement, sure he will see a lot of crazy stuff, but he would be very alone, the thype of person who hardly gets outside unless he has to or never looks people in the eye...have all you forget how Ford was right before be suck inside the portal? He was slowly lossing his mind, all paranoid and with no one around and his friend of those years, became a crazy old man with a broken mind and a raccon wife, that could be Dipper in the next 40 years, Mabel pushes him out of his confort zone, while Dipper makes sure Mabel doesn't get too overly crazy with her silly stuff...again, they balance each other.
    I think Ford proyected himself in Dipper, on how he used to be and such and fears Mabel will be just like Stan and ruin his opportunities...but Dipper and Mabel are different and I hope they grow up to be more healty adults as no offence to the Stans, but those two twins are still kids in adult bodies, Stan is the irresponsable wild kid while Ford is the nerd and sightly insecure kid, but in the end, are kids.

    • @dracoangelrojo
      @dracoangelrojo Před 3 lety +2

      I think you're dismissing way too much Dipper's potential and skills, don't forget how many of the times that Dipper wasn't with Mabel, he was a complete badass and even got some confidence, like in this episode and the Manotaurs. Saying that Dipper only manages to get this far is only thanks to Dipper feels incredibly unfair, specially when many, many times Mabel did the exact opposite to help him, Sock Opera being the perfect example where Dipper could have gotten all the answers but had to sacrifice the laptop because of what she did.
      Also, why does everyone asume the kid would be locked up in a basement? The little times he interacted with Ford they got to do stuff outside, like in this episode, and it's not like Ford found all the paranormal activity in his bedroom closet, he had to go outside a lot. Also, Dipper might not be very social, but he's far, far more than Ford ever was, and he has friends in Gravity Falls already: Soos, Wendy, the teenage gang, Pacifica, creatures like the multi-bear, etc, and in this place he is in his comfort zone because he studies and does what he likes without anyone bullying him for it, winning confidence. Back home he's an outcast at school who's only best friend is his sister, and it's not like Mabel defends him or improves the situation, by letting their classmates pick on him because she's from the popular group.
      The Ford we saw 30 years ago was in a very different state than the Ford he is now, and he learnt from his mistakes: that paranoid Ford was a scientist that had been tortured emotionally, psychologically and physically by his "muse", who was terrified of sleeping because every time he did it, Bill would possess his body, and he had the end of the world over his shoulders, blaming himself, and unable to fix it. Ford at this state has learnt a lot, cannot be possessed by Bill anymore and learnt from his past, he would be a lot better with Dipper than he was with Fiddleford. Also, as much as I like Mcgucket, Mcgucket's state of mind was not result of Ford's actions, since Ford tried to stop him multiple times from creating the memory gun and actually tried to support and give his friend the help he needed. Fiddleford simply didn't try to cope because he found it easier to forget than learn and move on, even if it damaged his mind (he even used that machine against Ford against his will). We can't say that Dipper would have ended up like Fiddleford just because they both were hanging out with Ford.
      The problem with Mabel is...no, she doesn't push him out of his comfort zone, if anything she is the one who keeps him from actually getting more confidence in himself and the one who keeps him from progressing, mostly because all the times Dipper is about to do some progress or win some confidence, she makes sure to make him feel guilty or humilliated for it, let's not forget how many times Mabel laughs or mocks his interests and insecurities, and how the times he really is about to do something he loves and that can help him to get better, she drags him back to keep him at her same level, because she refuses to grow up or things to change. And Dipper consenting and spoiling Mabel by giving in every time she whines or throws a fit, doesn't help either. It's the opposite of what they need: Dipper needs confidence and Mabel needs to face her fears, yet the way they are at this point, Dipper keeps Mabel in her comfort zone by sacrificing everything he wants to make sure Mabel doesn't have to grow up, while Mabel keeps Dipper from reaching his potential and gainning confidence. It's not healthy.
      I'm not going to deny that Ford definately projects himself on Dipper, but I don't think he thought that about Mabel, the little times he talked about her, he showed nothing but love and admiration for her personality and her social skills. However, even if what you said was true...would he really be wrong about it, considering everything she forces Dipper to sacrifice through the series, his apprenticeship included? If anything, Mabel is worse than Stan, at least in Stan's case it was an accident that both twins handled poorly back in the day. I do agree that Ford and Stan are big kids tho.
      However, if I'm honest...I do think Dipper and Mabel are not going to develope healthier than Ford and Stan, if anything, after watching the whole series...this is going to get worse, and sooner or later this relationship is going to snap, if things don't get better. They both need to reach a compromise, otherwise they will keep dragging the same problems until the relationship breaks.

    If Dipper had taken the apprenticeship, he would have been an isolated person who mostly think doing research like Ford.
    After Ford lost the opportunity to get to the free college, he didn't even bother to find Stan or even ask about him.
    Mabel was mentally destroyed and was told that the rift was not a necessary item.
    If she was mentally cured, she would have understood him.
    Sure she may at first reject but she is a child, she will absolutely understand.
    So the apprenticeship wouldn't have been a good thing for him.

    Thinking Dipper should've gone with Ford is a terrible headcannon. Ford's arrogance is the only reason he wants Dipper along. He wants someone to tell him he's a genius and go along with whatever crazy and/or dangerous idea he has (which is what brought Bill into the universe in the first place). Ford thinks there are "special people" who are meant for more, which is why Bill was able to trick him and not Stan. He manipulates Dipper against his sister and into not telling her about the rift. Dipper would never find true fulfillment being Ford's lacky, he needs to be around kids his own age and be social and live a real life and not try to skip adolescence. Dipper needs Mabel the same way Ford needs Stan. Alex Hirsch even said that if Dipper went along with Ford he'd probably end up like McGucket. He's not strong enough to stand up to Ford but not arrogant enough to think his personal research is more important than the people he cares about. Can you honestly say you'd want Dipper to be trapped in a Morty/Rick type of relationship? And not even have his family nearby to confide in?

    • @BetterCallStan
      @BetterCallStan Před 3 lety +2

      He would have Ford, Stan, Soos, Wendy, Pacifica and he said he would video all Mabel. Some people just have different opinions and that’s okay. I’m not saying you’re wrong for thinking that he made the right choice. That’s just your opinion.

    • @dracoangelrojo
      @dracoangelrojo Před 3 lety +6

      Terrible headcannon? Dipper would finally fullfil his dreams and study what he wants with the author, his hero and best friend.
      Ford's arrogance? Ford clearly loves Dipper, what made him get attached to the boy was because he saw how alike they were, that's not being arrogant, he wants someone he can trust after being betrayed and abandoned by everyone he cared about for the last 40 years, and he relates to Dipper so much that he trusts him because they think and feel a lot like each other.
      Woah woah, what? Since when did Ford ever manipulate Dipper against Mabel? He offered him an incredible opportunity and gave him time to think about it, that's not manipulation, and neither is not telling anyone about something that can get them in danger, have you seen how Mabel loves to steal and wreck stuff through the series? The journal, Dipper's camera's and personal stuff, his lantern, the love potions, the rift, I can go on and on. If we go by that logic, Mabel is way more manipulative than Ford, afterall, didn't she guilt trip Dipper by accusing him of abandoning her, breaking promises and even refuse to abandone Bill's trap until Dipper gave in and said no to the apprenticeship? How can people accuse Ford of being manipulative but then support Mabel's toxic behaviour towards him through the entire show?
      Sure, because he would be far, far better back home, with people of his age that bully him and turn him into an outcast for being himself, like we saw he does back at Piedmont, doesn't he? And it's not like Mabel helps the situation at all either, she sees her brother being bullied and does nothing because she's part of the popular kids. In Gravity Falls Dipper can be himself without anyone bullying him or judgying him, and has way more friends than he ever had back home, like Soos, Wendy, the teenage gang, Pacifica, creatures like the multi-bear, his grunkles.
      No one is denying that the twins need each other, but they also need to learn to be themselves and develop into their own people, it's not healthy that Dipper is forced to give up anything for Mabel and that Mabel refuses to learn or face consequences or reallity every time something she doesn't like happens. Mabel keeps Dipper from doing what he dreams of and Dipper keeps Mabel from facing consequences of her actions and grow as a person. They need each other, but keeping them together forever and ever is unhealthy.
      Also, yeah, Alex's logic doesn't work when actually Mcgucket's fate was his own fault, for not trying to learn from his experiences and trying to forget, even after Ford tried to help and stop him multiple times and even getting his own mind erased by Fiddleford of all people against his will.
      You mean the family that mocks and humilliates him constantly or that force him to sacrifice anything he likes or is interested in, just because they don't agree with it? Family is supposed to support you and love you, not force you to constantly give up anything they don't like or understand. And it's not like Dipper was cutting his bonds with Mabel and their family, the first thing he did was assure her that they would keep contact constantly by visiting, by emailing, by video-chatting every day, that they would make it work, it was Mabel who refused, as always.
      I respect your opinion, but it blows my mind how people keep villainizing Ford to justify Mabel's toxic behaviour and bad actions.

    • @dracoangelrojo
      @dracoangelrojo Před 3 lety +3

      I honestly doubt he would have really pulled a Filbrick, and very less knowing how much Dipper cared about Stan: the guy had just come through the portal and had to take in that 30 years had passed since he left his home, that his brother not only had activated the portal that could doom the world while pointedly ignoring his warnings and disobeying his wishes to protect the entire universe, all while endangering their family and keeping him from defeating Bill, he also had just found out that Stan had taken his identity to commit crimes, faked his own death, take over his house and used his lifework to turn the Shack into a tourist trap that basically insulted and mocked all his entire life dedicated to the paranormal. Despite Stan's great and noble intentions towards Ford, we can't deny that what Stan did was more than questionable, and that Ford had very good reasons to be angry at him when he first got here. I honestly think that was more anger talking than anything else, but these two would have talked things through. Ford might hold huge grudges, but he isn't heartless, and both in the show and in the journal, he admitted he does care for Stan and that he had actually done wrong things towards him. The problem is that these two stubborn old farts are too proud to actually talk instead of just yelling and throwing accusations at each other.

      @dracoangelrojo Před 2 lety +5

      Because the apprenticeship is never brought up again after Dipper called it "a ridiculous fantasy" and denied it to make Mabel come out of the bubble. Litterally the show never mentions it again, not by him, and not by Ford, who left to sail off with Stan. The issue is that he gave up something he wanted to do, something he dreamt about, for his sister, for the millionth time, under the pressure of the end of the world over his shoulders and Mabel blackmailing him with choosing between the apprenticeship and her during the apocalypse where the kid had more important things to worry about, like surviving and rescuying his family, yet the show portrays all of what Mabel does to him as perfectly okay.
