The rubberplant is from the sims 1, so it makes sense to include it in this kit, in my opinion. Would be cool if we actually got it for the 20th birthday present tho lol.

Yeah, it would have been awesome if we got a bunch classic Sims 1 furniture for the anniversary, like the rubber tree plant (which I was absurdly pleased to see included in this kit), the vibrating heart bed, that cheap red chair, the expensive black leather couch, etc.

I remember when the images for this kit were released. A lot of people were upset about the bed and then there were the few who would say "Give them a chance. You can probably upgrade the bed and fix it..." Some people really still have hope for maxis. I'm saying maxis and not EA because it's maxis that physically makes the game.

This behavior is a staple for EA, the game company that makes the same damn game every year and still somehow makes millions and somehow can't get Maxis to do anything worthwhile and needs modders to actually make their game a game.
Yes, reassemble the loveheart bed is great idea. Why didn't Maxis think of that? It's missed opportunity.
@@dolliquette Its still maxis that makes the game. It's people who work for maxis that create the low quality textures and who can't be arsed to quickly code a function to make something functional. Even if it's EA that give them deadlines it doesn't matter. Single modders have proven time and time again how quick they can turn a decor item into something functional. They just don't care because they know they can get away with their current workload.

They are literally delusional! It’s like an abusive relationship, they always come back no matter what’s done to them…fixing up a bed, like what even is this idea? I’ve never heard anyone say ,,What I really want in a life simulator, Is to buy a basement DLC, that includes me building up a vintage bed, but just this one, singular bed!“
The way they just mentioned "livin' large" in the description of the broken heart bed, that was the name of the Sims 1 expansion pack "Livin' Large" where the original bed came from....they know how to disappoint us 😭
I love watching lilsimsie reviews first then coming to your reviews to help me see that the hype was all bs. Because I just watched her review and I was like okay yeah these kits seem nice and then I come here and I am like oh my god thank you for saving me money, seriously my wallet is very happy your reviews exist 🙏🏻

This seems less disappointing than the greenhouse kit, I would've used some of these objects (if I still played TS4, cough cough), it's just the heart bed that's really insulting, lol
The really really cool thing to do would have been to make the heart bed repairable ! Like in TS2 and 3, you could buy a broken down shell of a car and work on it day in and day out, and eventually you had a gorgeous functional classic car ! I loved that
Yes I love this Free Time pack from TS2. Broken loveheart is not only insulting but also ironic as TS4 is broken game.
I thought you’d be able to have sims woohoo behind it as it’s up against the wall but I suppose it being a kit made gameplay impossible🙄

The broken down heart bed was definitely intentional. Sims team said “Oh, you all want the old heart bed back?? Here you go.” 😂
You are so right. The heart bed is indeed symbolic of the state of Sims 4. I couldn't have said it better myself.
Is the broken down heart bed proof of a very odd kind of self-awareness the Sims 4 team has? Anyway, nice kit for rags to riches aesthetic, which I really like. And at least some functional objects (TV, mirror) whereas the greenhouse one is purely decorations.
That's not correct. Garden lights and plants shelf are functional but that's it

Much like seasons, I want a decades pack where you don't get a world, but you choose the era your sims live in and townies will match the era and there will be furniture to match too. I guess this is the closest thing I have right now.
I would have loved the idea of the heart bed being taken apart IF they had added a feature for your sim to be able to put it together and actually use it. I think that would have been a neat feature. If you want it as decor, great, or if you want to actually use it even better. I really hope this gets implemented, or maybe there is enough there for a modder to make this option a reality. I love your reviews!!!

That was my initial though but The Shit 4 was terrible since day one. They’ve reached the level 10000 of irredeemable so ofc they wouldn’t do such thing.

Lilsimsie pointed out that the lamps in this kit flicker (most notable in x3 speed) and give Tense Moodlets. They're also considered "Stressful Decor". lol 😂These lamps seem great for a haunted house I think! :)
1:40 Duuude, this is the iconic The Sims 1 base game plant that would literally die after just one day without watering it.
EA needs to get out of their heads and be more creative. IE: A game based in Brazil and carnival and circus game play to where you can manage your own circus and it introduces parades and new dances! Lions could escape and terrorize the sims! Build your own roller coaster! Etc. This is what a true expansion looks like. I don’t understand why they expect people to pay for content that a cc creator could of created, but a cc creator would of done better.
That's literally never going to happen. They're the laziest devs in the gaming community.
@@SaltySirenFloriduh Agreed. They have more staff and makes them twice as lazy. When I see that they dress up as animals in the growing together live stream it was like wtf lol. Seems like you have time to goof off when you should be working to on your job. These people get paid well for doing basically nothing. CC creators and modders saved the game. But even they can do so much. I haven’t played in 2 months and afraid to even open my game with the newest “update.”
Blame on Maxis not EA as they're not being creative. No passion no love put in TS4, that's sad really.

Honestly they have some really good ideas with this pack. It’s just the way the Sims team implements it/the way the final product looks. I love the clutter. It looks cool and reminisces on past games (that wallpaper looks like a sims 2 paper, the couch gives sims 2 vibes, the rubber plant from sims 1, the deconstructed heart bed (maybe they’ll actually bring it back? Wasn’t plumbella given the option to do a ‘retro’ pack?), the photo on the wall with Eliza and bob as a swatch and also Zoe Patel (and the roomies) as kids was a nice touch!!! However, it always feels like they miss the mark somehow. It’s a tease to bring the heart bed back like that AND WITH THAT DESCRIPTION. makes us think they’ll bring it back but knowing EA/Maxis, they won’t! I’m mostly just tired of all of these kits. I only own 2 and got the one for free. I miss the stuff kits that actually had substance. These kits just feel like official custom content 😕

I'm so glad you did reviews of these kits. I was first kind of excited for the greenhouse kit. And I thought this kit would have more interesting things in it. Instead it's just off brand CC that you have to pay for. Horrible for EA to put this out.

This plant is iconic! I've had it almost in all of my Sims 1 houses)
I think a 70's/80's, Space Age design themed pack could be really cute & fun.
It could also give elders some exciting things to do

I was ranting to my dad about the sims last night and he does leadership consulting work and since I’m studying under him to do something similar, I complain to him about the game in terms he understands because I really feel like we could apply the functionality of the sims to a lot of the concepts that he teaches because of how f*cking inefficient everything seems to be for their teams. I used an analogy to try to get him to understand what is ultimately wrong with the game that I actually really like: when you have a piece of furniture that you really like but you don’t like the paint, you don’t just keep painting over the old coats over and over again, you have to strip the paint first before painting it again or else it becomes a sticky, globby mess which is what the sims 4 has become. Everything they implement into the game now is just fodder, barely anything actually works fluidly, and it’s just layers and layers of half-assed incomplete additions that they promised to continue to work on only to move onto the next new shiny thing. I’m. Sick. If. This.
They wont give us the heart bed, because they dont label is as "family friendly" and because they try so hard to make the Sims 4 as childish as possible, they wont give us one.
The rubber tree plant is from sims 1!!! That’s way it’s so random on this kit! Honestly, having zero faith in EA, this kit is really unique from the others and will really enhance rags to riches challenges and building thrift stores for console players that can’t download cc, but I REALLY want the heart bed and the iconic 2 toned zebra sofa!!!
Wish we had thrift stores. The flea market in city living is awesome. I'd love to see that expanded. So you could consign items

It seems like with the heart bed, they are alluding at possibly releasing it soon with the 'maybe one day we will rebuild it'. perhaps at the anniversary?

We need a Pool Table.
That's one of my biggest gripes about the Sims. You can only put certain things on certain surfaces. But in a my real house, I could put a coffee pot on my desk or a bookcase as easily as I can put one on the kitchen counter. Or on the floor. You should be able put every object on every surface.
That is the absolute #1 reason I downloaded the TOOL mod. I'm so tired of being limited by their grid/snap decisions. It's so silly that after all this time they haven't found a way to make functional surfaces where grid snapping isn't a massive pain in the backside.
I really feel like the broken heart bed is an intentional middle finger to OG simmers 😤

the whole broken, retro tv would be amazing for my decades playthrough! the lamps too! but thats not worth paying for a whole kit just to use 3 items :(

I really like this kit, I'll buy it soon. I think the broken heart bed description means they're eventually going to give us one :) we can hope so! Not that I care either way since I have SixamCC set you showed us. I really like the dingy, old stuff! Works great with the werewolves pack.
That weird grey line glitch happened to me due to placing stairs to a basement from a foundation and the stairs going through a wall above. i love grungy rustic stuff, but werewolves pack is full of it and is more worth it imo, and tons of cc is like this. If someone is a grungy builder they'd enjoy this pack.
i agree the stains need to be darker but with move objects on placing more than one might work, thats what i do for the weird green stain i don't remember the pack but sometimes you cant see it so i place two

They didn't give us the actual bed because then they'd have to animate it and give the Sims special animations for when they use it and they've given up on gameplay kits 😤
This is a great point I hadn't thought of. It's not a "regular" bed (otherwise they could have perhaps done that) so they'd need to add vibration animations and the sims reactions. Definitely too much for a kit since they don't do "gameplay" kits anymore. Solid thinking!

I disagree that it would be hard to animate it. They could have given it to us with exactly the same functionality as normal beds except they'd already just have a "massage" function instead of needing to be upgraded to have one. We have had beds in kits before, that wouldn't be anything new. It isn't hard for them to add functionality into the kits when it uses animations that already exist e.g. a bed, a desk, a mirror, a lamp, the fire pit, the large projector, a computer etc. If they put the broken bed in as a hint that they are giving us the proper one soon, then fair play to them that's kinda funny. But if they end up NOT giving us the heart bed in an update or similar, then they either should have given us two items (broken bed and full bed), or given just the full bed since that is what people want.

i'm new to the sims but i felt it when Satch ranted about the heart bed. i feel sorry and lucky at the same time. hopefully, with the pressure that comes with competing with other life simulation games in the near future EA would finally figure out what the hell they're doing
TS4 cannot compete with LBY not even Paralives. It will be crushed as soon as LBY releases.
@@lawrencekling8598 exactly! Life By You and Paralives are going to be on competition with each other. The Sims is just going to die. Just like how SimCity died after Cities: Skyline came out. EA won't bother. They won't bother if a game came out buggy and glitchy upon release, and (worse) they won't bother fixing it. And since the same gurus are working on The Sims 5, you can bet your ass that game will release with broken and missing features. So yeah...
@@estelladee yeah exactly. I still hope TS5 will be better than TS4, it has to be. The Sims team will be under pressure from the likely successful games as LBY and Paralives but if they can't keep up, it will fail.
Missed opportunity to add a Murphy bed that’s more dingy instead of the tiny living one. Like they never made another Murphy bed and the tiny living one is so bright
i hate the greenhouse kit and i love this one too! it feels like so much more attention and care went into this one. where the paneled greenhouse windows have lines that are uneven. this one is so much better.
I think it would have been cool to make the heart bed functional if you want it to be like you click on it and it turns back into the functional bed with some sort of animation
Your builds are amazing! So simple, no clutter, easy to navigate and cohesive! I loveddd the recent video watching you go through the process of building in newcrest. The thought process is really stimulating and gets the creativity going in viewers ❤:) speed builds are a little chaotic and it’s easy to lose focus of the overall little details. can’t wait for the rest of newcrest!

Kinda wish they'd just do a pack focused on building stuff, like instead of broken and run down, you can fix that old lamp grandma left you, or work up your handiness to fix your old vibrating heart bed you had to dissemble when the kids came along....
Throw a rug on the concrete floor. Put laundry down there. That’ll match a lot of basements….and you could do all of this with cc and other pack objects. Same with the Greenhouse kit

Aww I was really hoping the bed had a feature to fix it with handiness skill and make it functional again
It would be really fun if there were an interaction added to the bed: "assemble" or "refurbish" that would bring the bed back to working order if your sim had a high enough woodworking or handiness skill - something on the order of the classic car from Sims 3 - and I think there was a car in Sims 2 that worked like this too. The description they had for the bed kind leaves the door open for this.
I like this one better than the greenhouse one. We need flooring and wallpaper in every pack. Also would've been great to get just the mattress alone for way cheaper, so you could actually use it in a run-down build etc. I will probably never use the super expensive old mattress??

The phone and lunch box could totally come with animations. Pretending to talk on the phone. That would be an adorable milestone for Infants and a fun game for Toddlers to play to increase their Communication skills.

Satch! You can get the vibromatic bed from the old Sims game in Sims 4. After downloading the mod I couldn't view it through beds, I had to click show all for everything in BB and search by CC to find it, the search bar wasn't showing it. But I got the bed-mod from 'Mathcope's Studio'. Just searching for the mod online with those keywords should bring it up. It's the last page of his stuff. There was also a lot of male CC too which is a double bonus. They seem to have the same ideas. Anyway I tested the mods to make sure they worked before commenting and that was my only issue was finding it in BB.
Satch did a review of a similar bed (no animation) with other iconic items in a previous video (the cc pack was from Sixam).
However it's cool to know there is a functional version of the bed too! Gotta love modders ❤
I think that the vibrating heart bed will be part of the HOT new update, they seem to allude that it'll come soon and that way it'd be base game and not behind a kit.

I made a old cottage with this😩 and the cottage living + paranormal and it really makes it feel like your playing in a old dingy house 🏚 I love it with the flickering lights lol
I actually do think the objects are cool! But my general gripe with it is that some of these kits really could be parts of the packs that came out just before them? Like this one could very well be included in growing together, everyday clutter with high school years, toddler stuff with parenthood (and those six together as One Single Pack i still cant believe we got 6 for what couldve been 1 ts3 generations), it's harder and harder to actually appreciate this stuff the older the sims 4 gets, these releases just feel so redundant.

The Rubber plant is from Sims 1 like the disassembled bed, so it's a nod to that lol! The dusty clutter looks like an ash tray to me! The description says about it could get functioning again, so I think they are going to give it to us reassembled lol, there are two more kits coming! I do agree it should have had a rug or flooring to go with it and the floor decals need the colour changing on them!
I might actually have to buy this kit. I love making basements and cellars.
Edit: unpopular opinion - Im okay with a broken bed.
Also: Most "basements" have concrete flooring.
The next kit will the called Trash Treasures and it’ll include a put together trash bin, a trash lid, the trashcan base, a banana peel, an old milk carton box; complete with a ‘missing’ advertisement in search of quality game play, stuff packs, and the actual fun of previous sims games, some balled up sims homework (w/ a witty description recalling when we had private school & boarding school) and a trash pile.
I love the TV! Such a cool effect. And that big gorgeous antique mirror! That’s getting tool modded right over a fireplace first thing! I wonder if the lamps could be cloned to give a cc lamp the same flickering effect. Same with the tv for that matter. Hmm 🧐 😊

I'm only here because I want an honest review. I know YT Simmers are becoming more honest but Satch is brutal and I love it. I was considering the Greenhouse kit so I watched that video but that's a no for me now. I'll keep my $5 for most of these kits. The only one I bought at the full $5 was Bust the Dust and I do think it's cute but the others that I have, I got half off.

Yes! YES we absolutely had that cart in our basement. It made me giggle. I mean my dad even had a random parking meter in the basement. It was cool but I didn't know what to do with it.

The sims used to have an element of mystique. Now it just feels like a mixture of mundane ideas a bunch of game developers came up with.
There's also a TV stand that looks like a broken TV console from the '70s. I thought it was funny to put a functional CRT on top of that. Plus, I had the brainy idea to put a greenhouse in my file. Underground in the basement.
