    For everyone who misinterpreted what I said... I DO believe The Sims SHOULD have gender neutral clothing. But I DON'T think it should come at the expense of traditionally masculine CAS. Inclusivity means everyone is included, including those who appreciate traditional masculine styles. Neglecting one for the sake of the other isn't equality it's favouritism. Inclusivity (in this context) means everyone is able to style sims that represent them including those who appreciate traditionally masculine styles :)

    I think its most noticeable for masculine cas, but I think in general that the Sims team dont pull inspiration from real life people. Everything feels like they went as far as pinterest or instagram and not just the folks at the park or the grocery store.
    (Even in build mode I saw someone joke that the only reason you are forced to make that "trendy" 🤢 thriftshop and boba shop combo in HSY is cause there was one of those by their HQ and thought it was universal.)
    Not everyone is following aesthetics and trends. It sucks trying to make sims, especially masculine, that dont look like they hopped out of tiktok.
    To me it kinda shows that as much as they cheer about simmers writing their own story they seem to expect the masculine sims story to eternally go: trendy teen, fruity young adult, and then the dadliest dad you've ever seen.

    I think that's what annoyed me the most about the men's fashion kit. We could really use some good basics for male sims, but instead of giving us that, they gave us even more new hyper specific styles. If the base game was already full of generally useful stuff it would have been good to add some variety like that for people who want more unique styles, but as it is it just felt like more of the stuff that the vast majority people won't use except in a few specific cases.

  • @anomalytenacious
    @anomalytenacious Před rokem +40

    I think the biggest issue is the clothes for males doesn't seem to fit them properly, most clothes are too big or too tight, or have a weird clunky look to it like the suit at 2:28 which is a nice historical suit, but the fit is made to look wonky on most of the male bodies, making it hard to appreciate. The hair suffers from the same issue too, they suffer from bad meshes like the original afro did. To see what I mean look up "Base-game hair redux by miiko," she only shows females, but the before and afters I think highlight the real issue with most of the male CAS, the meshes are not made in a way to flatter men at all.

    I feel like The Sims 4 CAS is missing some really basic items. There aren't enough simple clothes and hair not only for guys, but for all of the categories. I'd be much happier if there were some plain t-shirts, regular pants, and simpler hairstyles instead of all these crazy flashy outfits. When I compare it to older versions like The Sims 2 or 3, they had a lot of fun themed stuff, but they also had plenty of regular clothes. I believe that it's just a cash-grab from EA because they'll add one basic swatch in a pack just so you'll buy it to have some basic choice.

      I laughed seeing some of the new clothing on the male Sims because it looks crazy or really old like Sims 4 is the 60s or 70s for male Sims but 2020s for females aside from the clearly vintage stylization. But also some of the males had better butts than the females in the female pants, so you can't help but laugh about the choices.

    They’re definitely doing more gender neutral clothes/hairs now. I’ve noticed a decile in quality with women’s hairs recently too. LOTS of short hairs that are specifically made for both sexes. I wish they would go back to making masculine hairs for men and feminine long hairs for women. If we want our women to have short masculine hair, it’s very easy to just add the masculine tag filter and pick one. I don’t see why we have to start adding them as actual feminine hairs when they aren’t.

    what i hate most about sims 4 cas is
    1: the shape of male sims, like the actual body shape. It's awful and unrealistic. The muscles are painted on and unless your sim has a perfectly normal slim body, he'll look awful with clothes on...ESPECIALLY SUITS. Both Sims 2 and 3 nailed the body shape and even in 4, the female body model is great, it's just the male sims 4 model that looks absolutely ridiculous.
    2: Female clothes on Male sims look absolutely awful. They didn't bother to remodel the fem clothes for male bodies so now most female outfit choices have weird bumps or have clear boobs painted on or deform the sim's body shape.
    3: basically your point about having fem hairstyles simply plopped onto the men's category to pad out the numbers.
    4: just in general having too few actually masculine options. And how the meshes fit weirdly on the models doesn't help.

That's "normal everyday male" not their identity or orientation, but in a game where it's kind of a point to have babies to continue the family, there needs to be representation of the straight male too. It just seems like they don't want to make the budget to have 2 versions of each item so it fits properly, and are more focused on "trendy" CAS items than versatile ones. CC creators are much better at making niche CC (and we can delete items we don't like when the trend passes). I think TS4 team should focus on quality basics and timeless styles.
