    The color you picked for your Monday looks so great! I hope it doesn't end up being too rustic for you, in the end.

    The sweater for your nephew turned out beautiful. My twin boys were also born November 5th. Except they are 38!😊Have fun and stay safe on your trip.

    Wow, I’m so glad we talked you out of frogging that cardigan! It’s stunning. I really love that red rustic wool that you bought from the spinnery. It’s my dream to get some of that one day. Have a lovely time with family and I look forward to seeing what you do with your new yarns. 😘

    I'm literally knitting with Pelsuld 8/2 as I watch this. 😄 It does feel rustic and crunchy at first but now that I've been handling it a lot and also steam blocking along the way, it has a lot of teddy bear fuzziness/softness and halo that makes it perfect for a saddle shoulder sweater for my husband that was supposed to be made of shetland and reminds me of 'shaggy dog' shetland sweaters. I love the grey gotland fibers in the yarn, was so excited to pick it up on my vacation in Iceland. Someday I definitely want to get another colourway for myself! I think combined with mohair it will be extra fluffy and cozy.
    I really want some wild & soft! To knit that one boxy tee by MFTK... but I'm going to make it one time through with some colourmart yarns.
    So glad your cardigan no 4 is working out!

    Hi Sherry, love all your projects, I too knitted the Slaty days sweater. I knit it with the French pattern and found it to be clear but that did not stop me from making at least 4 to 5 mistakes in the grid portion that I had to rip back and redo 😂😂 Love the result, I hope my daughter likes it to, I made it for her ❤ Enjoy your trip (I too am Canadian) and your visit with friends and family! 🥰

    Enjoy your time with your family Sheri. I'm off to Gran Canaria soon, there's a great Sandes Gran shop there so I'll be picking up some extra Line to knit my Mini Mock Neck top with the yarn you sent. 😊

    LisaR: Hi , Thanks for your honest opinion of the yarns you try .If alpaca isn't " dehaired" , the fiber will have the wiry hairs sticking out that are prickly , and itchy. If you try alpaca or a blend again ( which I would !) ask if the alpaca is dehaired . It usually makes the cost higher but the alpaca is a wonderfully drapey and soo soft .it comes in lace wt , brushed which gives a low loft halo , and is a great alternative to kid mohair for any reason . When buying mohair - look for Kid mohair ( the first or second shearing ) & silk . Mohair after that is not silky soft like Kid is :) Your projects are really beautiful- very helpful hints also in pattern specifics !

      @Goodknits_  Před 7 měsíci

      Thanks so much for the detailed advice! Do you have any favourites you use for alpaca or mohair?

    Great to see your projects and new yarn- I can definitely appreciate the Nordic purchses :) That cardigan no. 4 sounds like a pain, pretty irritating, it does look really good though. I have a similiar pattern that I should yarn for next year.

    Hello there from Canada ❤ West Coast/Vancouver area. I love your sweater No. 8. I’ve just started it for my daughter using Dream Workers Mota in a similar mushroom brown colour. Your wips are beautiful. Can’t wait to see that gorgeous copper yarn and KFO mohair knit up!!! 😍😍😍

      @@Goodknits_ I have just started on the yoke. It’s a bit larger gauge so I’m knitting the XS for my daughter. It’s quite a soft and stretchy yarn, but I might start again with S - she is petite size 34” bust. The yarn is perfect though. Just hard to know which size for this sweater - it’s so oversized but don’t want yoke to be smaller than it needs to be.

    • @Goodknits_
      @Goodknits_  Před 7 měsíci

      If it helps, I am typically a small but made the mistake of knitting a medium on this and I wish I had gone with small. The neck is too big and in blocking the yarn stretched a lot so it’s would have looked much better in my usual size (I think)

  • @peggykragh7941
    @peggykragh7941 Před 7 měsíci +1

    I literally was making a medium and almost had it done except for the neckline and found it was fitting tight, so I ripped it all back and knitted the large, well as you mentioned and I wondered, it did grow in blocking. I wish I had gone forward with the medium. I would suggest knitting the neckline before the sleeves then you will have a better idea too. Good luck! Good news is that I love this pattern and will re-knit again (in medium😊)

      Referring to Salty Day Sweater - sorry I didn’t clarify

    • @Goodknits_
      @Goodknits_  Před 7 měsíci

      Thanks for sharing this! I was so worried about the fit that I did a full wet block before I left for my trip so it could dry while I’m done. I was able to stretch it to the measurements in the pattern so feeling confident the size small will be okay. Figured it was best to find out before getting through the rest of it!
      Your story is my nightmare so very glad to hear you had the right size the first time. That gives me hope!

    that yarn bowl is now your re-caking bowl. Where you put your freshly caked skein in to re-cake it so it isn't ungodly tight

    First, your monstera is GORGEOUS!! Second, I'm so glad you didn't frog your cardi bc it is just lovely. Third, if you're still looking for a simple stockinette sweater, you cld also try the Cosy Classic Raglan by Jessie Mae. It has a dk and a fingering weight version. I've made a couple of them at this point

    I have been having difficulties getting gauge on otherloop patterns aswell.
    I saw someone on Instagram make the soft loop sweater with Isager tweed + mohair (one strand!) , and she said size 2 used only 4 skeins of the tweed. I got the tweed and held it with Tynn silk mohair and got gauge perfectly. :)
    Have you tried swatching with only one strand of mohair?

    • @Goodknits_
      @Goodknits_  Před 7 měsíci

      I only made that tiny swatch with one strand but good idea to give it a try. I’ll make a full one with one strand and see if it works. Would definitely help save money if I only needed the 1 strand

    Hi from Vancouver ☺The cardigan looks great! For your Monday sweater (I love that pattern) - I was immediately thinking KFO Claret! I just got it delivered yesterday. Beautiful colour. Also check out Filcolana Tila. The mohair is super soft and their colour selection is pretty nice. If you are worried the rustic yarn will be too scratchy for your neck you could knit the inside of the folded collar in a non-scratchy yarn in a similar colour or even with just the mohair held double or triple (possibly adjusting needle size).
    For the soft loop sweater - could you just hold it with one strand of mohair and go up a needle size? The fabric might be more airy but that might not be a negative? Fyberspates Cumulus is another brushed alpaca silk yarn. The pearl colour looks nice but might be a bit too light.
    Enjoy your trip home!!!!

    • @Goodknits_
      @Goodknits_  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I love the tilla mohair but unfortunately they didn’t have any colours they worked for the Monday sweater. But maybe for the soft loops!
      And great idea for the collar on the Monday. I never would have thought of that. I’ll see how the gauge swatch feels after blocking and then maybe take your advice.

      Good to hear! I decided to do a full wet block before I left for Canada so hopefully it will fit when I can try it on. Better to know now than after I’m done the whole thing 😂
