Well what do we think? Any improvements you would make ? Definitely a nice little unit!
Be sure to smash 💥 that like button..👍🏼😀
Another great video, thank you! This looks very promising for home backup!👍
It’s a nice option for sure that is still small.
Thanks for the comment and thanks again for watching ..👍🏼😀
Love it! Thanks for the video. Hope your vacation was good.
You’re welcome and yes vaca was great went and got a newer trailer..👍🏼
Mods to come for that lol.
Oh Boy! I like it! Being you have their ear, tell them to get this under 20" tall so it can pass the Tonneau test! Just take an inch off of either the wheels or the gas cap.... thanks for all you do!
I think it would have to be longer but yea would be nice to get under the cover for the trucks.
Thanks for watching ..👍🏼😀
I should’ve waited for this one 🤦♂️
Great video 😊
Crazy this came along so fast from the other 240..!!
But yea what a great model.
And thank you 👍🏼😊
Just got my at Amaz…. for my 50 amp trailer. I did a research and this one was my favorite.
Nice keep us updated and let me know how it goes over time..👍🏼😀
Oh dang! That’s incredible!
It is…..!
Looks and sounds like a Champion with remote start.
It’s close but not a clone.
Thanks for the review! Been looking for a good dual-fuel generator that we can take around with us.
I think a lot of people have. I’m surprised a company hasn’t done a 50 amp 240 volt sooner. This definitely helps change things up a little.
I don’t recommend for a 30 amp service though since you only get one power leg unless you don’t need alot of power and want it for home back up as well.
Thanks for watching 👍🏼😀
Excellent video. Subscribed!
Thank you, and welcome to the group…😀👍🏼
I bought the first generation one shortly after they released it. Once it came in they announced this one. ......
I know, it came very quick.
I was hoping you would have done a load test video on this generator by now. It would be nice to know if they upgraded the inverter such that the generator's full potential can be utilized on just one leg for 30A RVs which would make it a great choice for both you 30ampers and us 50ampers. It's a no-brainer for me, I've been looking for a 240v dual-fuel inverter gen for a long time.
Well when I first received the generator the temps where kinda cool. So I want to do a home AC load test under real conditions when it hot. Which it is now getting there.
But you have to understand I’m trying to use a generator that has just enough power to maybe run a standard home ac unit. If I keep trying different tests I could potentially damage some of the stuff on my home. Which is why you typically want a 1/3 more power then you think you will need so you are not running the generator at 80% and above all the time.
But now that the temps are hotter now it will come back around on the list of videos.
Plus I have been behind with other videos and not to mention with Covid going away, surgeries have now picked back up. So the hospital has been pretty busy.
But I’m trying ..👍🏼
Thanks for sharing I just wished they would offer a better warranty one year has me thinking champion for my next buy 🤔.
The champion warranty is a little better. I wish they had a few extra models
Finally! a proper fuel shut off.
It is nice to have it. But most do if you turn the dial to almost off.
I have a short video on how most all gens have a fuel shut off.
oh great I cant find the thread we had about amazon not selling carb generators to cali. well after I called the other day poof I can now get the westinghouse igen4500 dfc shipped to cali from amazon! someone must be listening over there. I did notice that some genmax models are EPA but not CARB complient :( hope the company fixes that. if I dont hear from ya have a great weekend!
Yea unfortunately they didn’t add charcoal canisters to meet CA emissions so they can’t sell here. Which tons of people just take them off anyway lol.
But yea that’s the issue.. I asked about it.
Great video thanks, clear explanations and good demo awesome , All looks great good specs etc a bit worries about parts and service ? decided to buy it anyway after your good reviews it helps making the decision
Awesome glad I could help. Enjoy the new unit… buy a warranty though if you can just in case lol.
I tell everyone no matter what gen you buy.😂👍🏼
Umm where can I buy a warranty?
Amazon…. Just read or them if it covers generators. It should but some of the assurance programs I guess from what someone was saying may exclude certain items. I assume if it’s offered at check out then it applies
Tried to get service help .no go.
Tried to get spare parts list from the manufacturer.no go .
:(
Thanks for the feed back, what’s wrong with it.??
I know a lot of manufacturers are having issues getting some parts. Even some people were complaint about getting parts for Honda as well.
Did you get ahold of the warehouse in the San Diego area?
Been waiting for this one! Can’t wait for more testing! Hey you mentioned that some generators with remote start do not work on propane? I am interested in the Westinghouse 4500 DF. Do you know if the remote start works on propane?
I never tested the dual fuel version with remote. So not a hundred percent but I could find out. Just hit me back if I forget..😂👍🏼
I have the Westinghouse igen4500DF. Yes, the remote start (and stop) works on propane.
@@trnzamcharlie4090 thank you
Thanks for these videos. Quick question: as an Amazon Associate, can you tell me for sure if the Amazon / Asurion warranty covers these generators? I'm finding mixed answers.
Thanks again, and I can't wait for the load test on this guy!
I would maybe find a specialist and ask directly that way you know. I’m pretty sure that when the Assurance program is offered during the purchase then the unit is covered.
If not offered during check out then more then likely they don’t offer it on the specific item.
Sorry for the delayed response
what size propane fitting is on the genmax gm6000ied?, because I am connecting a Auto-Changeover LP Regulator allows you to hook up 2 Propane tanks
Normal is 3/8th flare..👍🏼
What does it come with for 240v cord? Some sort of pigtail? Do you know the NEMA designation of the female side once it's connected?
It does not come with a cord. The one you will need will be dependent on your hook up.
Is there a minimum propane tank size? I see some of the bigger propane-enabled generators require a 30 or 40lb tank.
I don’t think so as long as the pressure in the tank will handle the load then all should be fine. A 20lb tank I would think would be the minimum though. Or your run time will be minimal.
Magnetic dipstick: the Wen GNA200 20mm x 2.5 is a prefect fit, Amazon
Nice 👍🏼 😀
If I use one of those 4-prong 220v twist plug adapters to 220v 3-prong welders plug, will I be losing a lot of power for my welder? NEMA 6-30P/6-50P Plug
If it’s a 220 welder then the plug should still grab both hot lines. Giving you full power.
@@johnnysweekends with just the three welder prong?
Ohh got ya, yea if your dropping to 3 prong you will lose a hotline going to 120 volt. So you need a plug adapter that is compatible at 220.
Another great vid, thanks. I was set on ordering a Champion 4650 today and came across this video.. now Im not sure what to do... I have a 50 amp TT and plan on using the generator for some home back up as well. Being you have had your hands on both generators, which would you chose if you had a 50 amp travel trailer? Thanks.
Honestly if you want to run both legs in the 50 amp trailer 240 makes it easy so you can run the whole trailer.
Plus depending how you have things wired at home 240 again makes it easier to just run the whole panel and turn on the circuits that you need.
Thanks for the reply! Trying to figure out which adapter I would need to be able to plug in my 50 amp TT. Do you have any recommendations?
You’ll need something like this..
amzn.to/3kku4pS
Thanks again for the reply. As you can tell I have zero knowledge when it comes to this stuff. So with this generator and the adapter I will still be limited to 30 amps going to my travel trailer? Or can I find an adapter that plugs into the 20 amp (120v) side and the 30 amp (240v) to get to the 50 amps? I greatly appreciate your time!
If using this on a 50 amp trailer …..
You get two hot legs of power…
120 volts line 1 =22amps
120 volts line 2 =22amps
Total 44 amps to your trailer
Each hot line is able to hold a 30 amp load.
Your trailer is not exactly like a house. If you have two ac units and say you plug into a rv park with a 30amp outlet…
Only part or most of your trailer works. Like the main ac, fridge and other things but the second ac will not because it’s on another power wire.
Make sense ? Or somewhat 😂👍🏼
It’s a little confusing
Is there an adaptor to run two 30a marine shore power plugs?
I would think there is something. Out there
Brand new generador bought 2 years ago, today i try to start but the fuel selector is stuck, it won't move to select gasoline or propane. Where can I find help to fix
You never took it out of the box to see if it was ok 2 years ago?
So in actuality it’s only 3000 Watts & 25 A on one leg correct? So if you only have a 30 amp service this generator would not be a good choice?
Exactly I have been recommending other units for a 30 amp service. Genmax also has a new 3500 dual fuel I’m going to check out soon.
Good video! I purchased this generator after many months of research and your video helped me decide…. However after receiving it from Amazon.. it ran just under an hour and it shut off due to a CO detection… it was running in my driveway kinda like in the video and after waiting a day with the battery unplugged .. it had shut off after starting and running for about 5 secs… am I doing something wrong? Help.🙏
Wow interesting…. Well any unit can have problems but do a couple basics.
One Check oil level and I would even charge it now if you haven’t. I do after about 20 mins because it really washes the engine with the first batch of oil.
Second did you over fill it above the red line in filler neck?
I would also check the spark arrestor and maybe pull it off. A few people had them pre maturely plug due to some kind of debris. Not sure where but the where other models but the parts are the same and used on many different units.
Next I would change the plug. Even though its new the build oil in the engine will sometimes prematurely foul the spark plug. That’s the smoke you see on start up.
Next try to run it on propane. If it runs on propane then possibly the small jet in the carb got blocked so it won’t start. A few new units on other brands got plugged from sitting and cause a no run condition right out the box. Like fuel was not drained all the way from factory.
I honestly hate the co2 monitors but every unit will soon have it. Some seem to be more sensitive than others.
Let me know if any works.
@@johnnysweekends ok the problem is that it shuts off after it starts and runs for about 5 seconds and the CO alert flashes red. It continues to flash a red light for a min or so.
I changed oil like you said and oh man there was quite a bit of metal shavings. Appreciate the tip.
Then I checked the spark arrestor and nothing seemed to have clogged it.
Checked the plug and check the proper gap and it looks brand new. Upon restarting I left the arrestor off and it ran for about 5 seconds before shutting off. I tried the propane and it had the same results.
Any way to reset the CO sensor? I have contacted Genmax directly and they’re kinda slow on response which is why I’m reaching out to you and the community.. hopefully this will help someone with the same issues… thanks again! 🙏🙏👍👍
Hmm unfortunately I haven’t had time to play with the unit yet to see if there is a bypass or fix. These are still a little new so people have t had time to find work around a. Some you can just unplug. Others no.
Weird it worked for like a hour then now nothing. Hopefully they respond soon or may have to exchange or return. Sorry man hope it gets figured out soon.
Maybe a stupid question but I don’t understand the ratings on these things…
The receptacle says 120/240 30a. How can it be 240v 30a since that equals 7200w?
Also doesn’t it have a 20a breaker? 240v x 20a is 4800w, which is less than the 5250w power rating on gasoline.
Any idea on an external fuel tank for prolonged run time?
It would need to be a gravitational feed set up.
Thanks. I see numerous different gas cap options. Happen to have any idea what fits the Genamx?
I don’t know if a option yet. Sorry 🤷♂️
is genmax a good brand in your opinion looking for a generator to run everything in my 30amp camper thanks for the great review videos
Genmax is a relatively new brand. But the company it self has been in charge of making and designing many generators for years. They finally decided to make there own.
Only time will tell if the components truly hold up but I would assume they are as good as other brands using them to build them and even there engines… sooo..🤷♂️
All in all I tell everyone a warranty is always a good idea.
@@johnnysweekends what's your opinion on the champion 4650 watt wireless start inverter is it loud with load on it compared to the predator 3500
I have a video comparing these and it’s one of my personal favorites. 😀👍🏼
See it here czcams.com/video/SYxIDRZendM/video.html
@@johnnysweekends yep i watched most of your videos 😃 just seeing what u thought of it i am learning towards that one
I like it… dual fuel even better… 👍🏼
If it was only tri-fuel. You'd have all the benefits.
True, for me I would rarely use NG though as it’s the worst for btu compared to fuel and LPG …
How do I hook up a generator to my breaker box?
Honestly it needs to be done by a electrician. You need a generator inlet box, or small critical loads panel with generator inlet, then your lock out switch so you can’t have main power on and generator at same time. Then wired to a breaker in the box.
There are ways around this but only skilled people should do it. Playing in a panel is a little like Russian roulette for a new person. If you are used to playing with power and ac systems then you probably could diy it.
For liability reasons I cant.
mine will not start with the hand pull unless the battery is connected and charged. is that normal? thanks! j
Yes the battery will need to be charged for gas. But try it on propane and I bet with out the battery it will fire right up
@@johnnysweekends Thank! Yes, I did try on propane, in fact that’s what I’m using. But no luck, it would not start without the battery charged.
Wow interesting. That was one thing I was going to try because champion is the same way, no start with a disconnected battery on gas but it would on propane. Because the propane switch in the carb.
I have been out of town and weather has been a little crazy in NorCal , but I’ll mess with it this week.
Thats a above the call of duty! Thanks. The battery arrived dead, so i wired another 12v one in temporarily.
Dose the engine of this generator have a cast iron sleeve for the cylinder
I don’t remember, but it should. Most of the larger generators do. Around a 150cc and down they start to go to aluminum bore. But that’s also depending on model and brand.
Some 80cc units have a Steele sleeve.
But maybe check out this. Made by same company amzn.to/3SjZvSe
Well maybe you can talk to JNX and ask him when they're coming out with the 4500. W fuel injection, remote start.
Soon.. mid summer and it’s been updated a lot !
@@johnnysweekends Must be having problems with it.
Not at all, they changed some things, added some things , and testing all takes time. Plus applying for CA carb cert takes time as well.
Then mass production. Better to it right then rush to market. Then people would just complain.
Any idea on how to access the air filter to clean it?
Yes you have to pop the side panel off and unscrew thumb screw.
I’ll be making a maintenance video on this in a couple weeks or so
@@johnnysweekends thanks for the heads up.. ‼️
😉👊🏼👍🏼
The “W” in 5W30 doesn’t mean “weight” it stands for winter.
Has anyone successfully modified this so that it has a floating neutral? If so, was it difficult? Need a floating neutral generator since I'm using an interlock. Thanks!
I haven’t had time to play with it even though I want to but I have no idea how it’s set up. Have you tried anything ?
@@johnnysweekends Thanks. I haven't bought it yet partially because Amazon is now out of them and because I want to make sure it's possible before I do.
Ahh yea I really need to look into that but work is slammed right now and with videos as well it’s crazy around here 😂👍🏼
Doesn't a hair dryer make it louder for your measurements?
No with it in the back and on low the generator over takes the hair dryer by a lot. I have done these tests so many times with different scenarios. Which is why I’m only using the hair dryer on low but high heat and the low setting on the heat gun.
Hope this helps…👍🏼😀
What size dipstick? I would want to buy a magnetic version for the first few hours. Chinese engines are usually pretty dirty.
They are all pretty dirty when new but I don’t have one yet being it’s new. I need to find one or someone needs to make one. But I bet one already exists as it’s pretty common size.
@@johnnysweekendswere you able to find a magnetic dipstick for this Genmax?
Sorry not yet….. I have been swamped 🤦🏼♂️
@@johnnysweekends I understand and appreciate your content and responses.
I bought the WEN 55201 Magnetic Oil Dipstick for this model and it seems to fit fine.
Ive said it before, those telescoping handles look flimsy . ive had similar handles on coolers fail.
that said, I wish this generator had been around before I bought my 120V 4500 watt dual fuel Champion last year. A three year warranty does a lot to reassure a potential buyer that the generator is of decent quality
I have lifted these generators with those handles fully extended and no flex. So far pretty darn tough. Now I don’t recommend that but want to see. I would leave it in most the way to lift it if using for lifting in a truck .
Thank you for the video, I own an outdoor movie business and am in the market to buy a generator. Trying my best to learn everything. Curious, why is there no 120/240 switch (like the 7200) if this is a 240-volt Gen?
Yes it’s 120 and 240 but no switch
So on 30 amp circuit you get half the rated verses 240 plug you get both circuits giving full power
The 7250 has the switch which allows fuel power on both sides. Much better that way as it’s more universal and I recommend that style 👍🏼
Johnny, I purchased this generator from Amazon 11 August 2023, I have given up on the Westinghouse iGen 4500 it will not provide any voltage and will not run on propane, out with the old and in with the NEW!!!
Yea I put out a post not to buy the Wh4500 units they just have so many issues and I get more comments about the problems of that unit more than any other.
I hope the new one does better. Congrats on the new unit and keep me posted. Always good to have feedback to add data.. and for other viewers 😀👍🏼
@@johnnysweekends Johnny, give me your preference between a GenMax 6000 or a Pulsar 7250, both are duel fuel.
The pulsar 7250 is the genmax 7250 not really any differences. I prefer it over the 6000 unit.
Anyone have any longer hour experience with this unit? I'm reading tons of reviews where the unit is DOA by 50hrs. Worse yet, everyone says customer service is basically non existent.
The specs are fantastic, but I'm less than confident about this unit holding up, and the lack of support if something does happen.
I know they have been improving customer service but it seems with many companies its lacking everywhere.
Any idea when it will be available on Amazon ? How much it will cost ?
I think it’s now available again..

@@johnnysweekends not yet available
Ahh interesting I thought they had more come in…
I know the first batch sold quick.
Im from Canada , that's why I wont see it available for shipping to my address. I used a us address and I can see the price for the unit. Thanks a lot for the reply.
No problem, yea could be a while before it ships to Canada. You can try Home Depot as I think they are going to pick up the line. Not a 100% sure though.
Are you able to "Starve" this unit of gasoline? I like to run my gas generators "dry" to keep the carbs clean.
Yes
Can this unit be ran on Natural Gas?
This one cannot with out modification
How much modification? Is there a video on it?
@GearGrinder33 pretty sure this will help let ya know if you can or want to. Normally a on off valve and a T needs to be installed

The "W" in "5w30" does not mean weight. It's pronounced five-dubyuh-thirty and no other way. Same for all the other Ws. Technically it stands for "winter" but that is also outdate and obsolete nomenclature.
Agree no cares that the number is the weight and W is for winter.
Plus you know how weird it would be to say a bunch of times in videos…
“5-30weight winter oil “ 😂👍🏼
So it’s easier to just say what everyone else says so I do t get a million comments of… why did you say it like that? What’s that mean? And then the few, wow you said it right. Lol.
Although maybe I should for fun to play with people see if anyone notices 🤣
What?! No load test?!!!!
Next video. If I do everything in one video it’s to long and people stop watching.
I think it helps to break it up.
@@johnnysweekends Okay!
for that price just get a honda no thank you
Which Honda? The 7000 unit is super expensive…🤷♂️
I paid about the same amount as the GenMax for my Honda 2200. A Honda 3000 is $2400 at Lowes. So it would take two of those (at 130 pounds each) to provide roughly equivalent power.
Does this model have an oil filter--like its big brother, the Genmax9000ied?
No standard drain and fill. 👍🏼
Would you recommend this generator over the northern tools power horse 4500
It depends on your needs and what you are doing with it.
If you primarily need a 120 volts and more max wattage a 120 only generator like the PH 4500 would be a better option. But if you want it for home back up or have a 50 amp Rv this could be the better unit.
