  • The Prana Brion hiking pants are my all time favorite pants for backpacking and hiking. Now saying they are the best is subjective to the user, but for me, they are the best!

    I wear Wrangler synthetic stretch pants ever day hiking in Alaska..fleeced line in the winter, non-lined in the summer....~$19-25 at Walmart....quick drying, good stretch, good breathability, fleeced line are extremely warm, extremely durable for everday backpacking.

    Brion are 100% the best outdoor/travel pants I've owned. The Zion were really good but these fixed any gripes I had. Love them!!!!

    I second the inconsistency in sizing. I purchased a pair of these pants maybe two years ago in an ongoing search for a favorite all around pant and they have become my absolute go to! This mostly has to do with the comfort and fit. I have ordered three more pair online and they were all about 2 inches longer and a much looser fit. With a fairly high price tag, Prana needs to get their s#%t together.

    • @friendofthewilds
      @friendofthewilds Před 3 lety

      Agreed! I bought many of the same size and got the same issue. I wish they were consistent because it is a great pant. Another issue I found after having them for a long time is that the material become stretched and stay stretched! The 33'' waist is not like 36'' and the fit is now all loose.

      Kuhl Renegade Rock pants are Insanely awesome! Slim-fit, two side-seam cargo pockets, two cell-phone pockets, ankle cinch & gusseted-crotch. They are stretchy & sleek enough to go from trail to office or pub.

    Oh man, I just went through the biggest hunt to find hiking pants for myself. Nothing fits me, I have thunder thighs and a butt to go with them and every single pant that fit in the waist was way too tight in the thighs and crotch. I eventually found Coalatree trailhead pants in the regular fit and oh man they're awesome! They're total dad pants but they're super comfy. I really like the elastic drawstring waistband!

    • @tannicapple
      @tannicapple Před 3 lety

  • @friendofthewilds
    @friendofthewilds Před 3 lety

    I loved them and still want to love them! But...
    The sizing is inconsistent and I notice that material stretch over time and stay streched, the fit become all loose and the pants waist size of my 33'' is now much like a 36'' and way too loose. I will look elsewhere into maybe another brand to replace my 6 pairs of Brion pants...

  • @woodchip2782
    @woodchip2782 Před 4 lety +1

    I have 4 pair of Prana Zion and I prefer them over the Brion for the pocket arrangement; some pockets have zippers also . And I love the fact that the legs roll up mid leg high and snap in place for a shallow water crossing. I agree that sizing is inconsistent, for that kind of pricing that’s a huge letdown. You really have to try on every pair before you pay. Other pants I use are some I did not expect to like. They’re the Wrangler Outdoor series for a third of the Zion price... and you also have to try on every pair for inconsistance in sizing. I did try the Brion and liked them but but zippers will save my knives and gear from falling.

    I got all the brion pants colors, they are the best fitting pants. They are true slim fit pants for the fitted trend. As a non obese american its great to have a size 32-34 that doesny flare at the bottom or have a small belt line with a dump truck full of space for the ass. Yea i like to look good when im out and its comfortable as hell

    I have been using a pair of North Face hiking pants, zipper shorts. Just retired them this year. The zipper broke. They gave me 10 years of hard use. To date, I have found nothing better in terms of longevity. I like the look of the Prana .......they need cargo pockets. I'm going to look into a pair

  • @billandkorrigraves3776

    You mentioned the sizing issues. I struggle with this do to being a 29x31. Not ever an option from any manufacturer. Any idea if they run small or large or long...?

    • @xavierfigueroa1708
      @xavierfigueroa1708 Před 4 lety

      I have nearly the exact struggle being a 29x32 fitting perfectly with no belt, but hardly ever made in pants. Bought 2 pairs of the Stretch Zion from Prana and they have a built-in fastener/internal drawstring thing that adjusts to your size. I bought the 30x32's and can wear them after adjusting with no issues. Great buy!

    Great video! Thanks for sharing! I too am a Prana fan. Like you I have a whole gamut of colors that I wear 98% of the time. Lol so far my coworkers haven't said anything. But my closet is full of the Zion stretch. I was wondering if you could elaborate or compare and contrast the two pants. I haven't tried the Brion, but I like the five pocket jeans style look. I like the fit of the Zion stretch because my thighs are extra thick and I find it hard to find a good pair of pants that fit. I wonder if you have any insights on the differences. Thanks!

    Devin. I’m a smallish guy wear 29” waist, and most hiking pants I look up start at 30-32” waist. Do you have any suggestions on brands for us little guys?

    • @hapemask
      @hapemask Před 4 lety +1

      (not Devin but) I wear these exact pants in 28"x32", they fit great. The Zion version is good too but if you're skinny like me I prefer the narrower leg cut these have.

    Sizing is getting worse too. I’m pretty thin, and even the 28 waist is too big for me now. I measure 31 and have owner 28 inch waists from prana before and they fit tighter. Fit is great if the waist fits you. I second them not actually breathing very well.

  • @miked3589
    @miked3589 Před 2 lety

    I used to love prana pants due to the fact that that material doesn’t irritate my skin (maybe due to bluesign regulations) BUT sizing is wildly inconsistent and while the material is durable, the stitching is usually very poor and fails constantly.
    Zion straight, Bridger Jean, and Zion chino all had seem failures that i had to sew within 2-3 wears. Thats unacceptable.
    I own 17 pair (i know thats a lot) and and most of have had seam failures. Im not climbing in them, just hiking and day to day use.
    Also i purchased three pair of the Brion pants at the same time in different colors. When i received them i immediately noticed that the leg openings were different on all three pair! That is seriously terrible QC!!!
    Seeing as how columbia owns them im guessing that has something to do with the decline in quality.
    I even asked prana for some thread swatches to keep repairing and they said they cant possibly do that.

    I’m using the Fjällräven Keb pants. Mainly due to the ventilation and the quality etc. Might be a bit overkill for some people tho. And the price is like $220.

      Johnny Utah bought cheaper before it wasn’t nearly as good. Buy once cry once. Besides they hold their value so if I ever want to sell them I can do so with ease.
      They are also really common here in Sweden, I know at least 5 people that has them and I see them all the time.
