full respect for the man here because none of the shop that i sent this laptop for upgrades had declined me and I had to learn how to properly open/upgrade my laptop. So thanks alot man
Thank you so much for this! You're so calm, clear and informative. I hadn't even noticed the hard drive bracket that was in the bag with the manuals!
Edit: Had to come back just to praise you more, you are SO good at showing everything and not leaving anything out by accident just cause you're used to doing it. Bravo, honestly.
My laptop doesn't have bracket bro😢
Thanks so much from the UK here for the clear instructions for upgrading the HDDs, especially pointing out the placing of the audio ports making this an easy process 👍
He is in his labortary using professional tools and am in my bed using just a knife lol
oops..me too..but i think i am the best of world... do you???
Why is he using gloves?
@@Baby-ui4gr people dont want someone fingerprint on they computer or maybe just a clean perpose
Lmao nice
@@Baby-ui4gr corona comes in handy
Really useful and detailed walkthrough. Managed to upgrade memory and SSD without sending it to the shop! Thank you
What ssd u used? Nvme? 2280? Which would fit in?
@@gifeight Samsung 750 evo. Any 2.5 inch drive will fit so you can go mechanical if you just want it to store stuff. I'm using this purely to game so had to be an ssd
@@shawnturner2829 i mean in the m2 slot is it nvme or sata? I still want to keep my 2.5 inch hdd, i want to use the m2 slot
@@gifeight Did you figure it out?
@@jebo54 yes, in case ure looking for an answer, since it has M key port, Sata AND NVME are both compatible. As length, u can go for 2280( as far as i know u can go for the smaller versions too 2260, 2242., not completely sure). This is for the m2 port..
Thank you so much for the calm and clear instructions, I wouldn't have managed without this video.
Thank you so much for posting this video! I just added my SSHD in yesterday and I can’t tell you how glad I am that you brought up a lot of details.
In particular, it got a little bit scary propping open the case because the board was getting stuck to the ports! Luckily, you brought this up and said to open from the other side and, voila, it opened up quite easily.
not able to open it from backside, any tips?
In some other video is saw the guy, removing the plastic flap under the screen, just to open the back cover for ssd upgrade. Thanks for this tutorial, cause applying the plastic flap back again was a pain.
Thank you for this video. I went through a lot of videos just to see the type and size of the hard drive that goes in that compartment and every other video they just point at it. Thank you again.
In case you all had an HDD/SSD failing and want to buy another one and don't know which one (NVMe, SATA) or which length (2280, 2260...etc), I've been there, and had to learn it by myself. FOR M2 PORT... I upgraded this same model laptop with an SSD. This laptop has a M2 slot with a M Key port, which is compatible with both M2 SATA and M2 Nvme. As for the length, u can go with 2280, (or smaller as far as i know). Thought I can help you all, I was really confused before doing the upgrade, did some research, photo references, learnt a lil bit about the SSDs, HDDs and M2 ports... and there you go. Hopefully you will find this comment
Can i put ssd in hdd slot? If yes then whats the name ? Like nvme m2 ?
@@yourdad4903 the hdd slot is not a m2 slot. the m2 slot is the rectangular form of SSD (like the rams), the hdd slot is bigger and more squarish u can easily spot it on the mother board. If u a want an SSD in that HDD port, it has to be MSATA, as far as i know 2.5 inch. NOT M2
ah thank you, i was looking to see what length m.2 i could fit in here, thanks for being cool!
Thanks! Really helpful!
Would the Samsung 970 evo plus work then?
Extremely informative. Thank you this helped me a lot 🙂
Thankyou for this!
Keep uploading sir, you help us alot! ❤️🙏
Thanks for the opening of this machine. While I am familiar with bench work for laptops. Not everyone feels comfortable with it and I like the way you help people in such a video. =D
....plus I almost forgot the screws on the 2.5" bracket until you mentioned it, so thanks for the reminder! lol
The way you explained showcases your enthusiasm and dedication towards your work. Good job ♥️. God bless you 😇
I like the laptop cushion pad and the automatic screw driver. This save so much time and more comfortable to watch with the cushion pad.
Cheers for the advice on the audio jack.

Why is he using gloves?
@@Baby-ui4gr it keeps finger prints off any areas touched . MSI laptops are great but show finger prints on areas touched.

wow man, thnk younso much for the vid
Nice vid. Way better than most on this computer.
Hi Phil it needs to unplug the battery for hdd upgrade !!!! I upgrade my hdd only
This was fantastic. I was considering to upgrade mine and was wondering if I could get the exact details of the SSD you have used for this machine please,
I will be delighted to see your email soon.
Hi Phil,
Thank you for a very helpful video that made my job easier. I also have an MSI laptop (GP75) which I am adding a SSD to, however I am struggling to find a 2.5" guide like the one you used. I can find tons of products that accommodate 2.5" to 3.5", but since there is very limited space in the laptop, I don't think these will work. Can you please let me know what guide you bought and where? I am in Canada, so would really appreciate if you do have any information about where I can purchase locally. Thank you so much!
did you not find it?
nice way of explaining
what a usefull video. great video. keep it up
Thank you very much it was very useful 👍
Hey, I had a question about an issue I gave when I tried to upgrade my msi gf63 ssd. When I put it in and try to start up my laptop, it seems to be stuck in this cycle where it keeps going to the biome then when I save and exit it says checking media then goes back to the biome. I tried to switch it from UEFI to Legacy but a similar issue occurs. Do you know any way to fix this?
You re-installed the OS, yes....?
Thanks for the great video (:
where can i find your shop in korea i want also upgrade may laptop msi, how much will it cost for the 1tb ssd and 2tb hhd?
Thanks for the great video, anyway it works
FYI, I have exact same model, the Factory Seal is so sensitive u barley touch it, it breaks half way the seal. I just did it tonight. Getting ready to add 16 gig ram, has 8 gig now. Thanks for video!
Samee. So that means you can't get it fixed by the company since the factory seal is torn?
been looking for this, thank you!!
i have the same models but in 9th generation intel
do you have the updated of the ram upgrade video ?
If you have the same model number, the upgrade process will be the same.

How do I unplug the battery
nice! Can u also do show instructions how to reapply thermal paste and clean the fans for GF63 8RC because I'm planning to do it also on my laptop but I'm scared I might destroy it
Great video wish you was in the uk
Thanks for this video - I bought this laptop almost 2 years ago and I have no idea where the ssd mount it came with is...can you recommend some alternative solutions I can use instead of the official ssd mount?
Did you got a mount, i am searching for one
I have an MSI laptop and the void sticker broke just from normal use and looks like how this laptop’s one is. So theirs may have just broken. Good to hear it’s not a warranty void!
He said it doesn’t void warranty in Korea, your country may be different.
Thanks so much sir i really appreciate it
nice video, also do you have video tutorial on seeting up dual drives. HDD for storage only and SSD for programs? Thanks
just right click on the start button and go to disk management and format the secondary drive as the D Drive
Hi - Congratulations on a wonderful video! Loved it the way you explained. I have two further questions that popped out after watching your video. Will greatly appreciate if you can answer. Q1. I have an MSI GS63 laptop. Where to find which SSD and HDD models will fit in this computer? You used the Crucial ones, and I am keen on knowing right specs for my computer. Q2. Once you replaced the 128 GB SSD with 1TB SSD, how did you reinstall the software on 1TB? Can you please have a video on this? or send a link if you already have? Will greatly appreciate. Q3. What did you do with the SSD card that you took out? Thank you so very much!! Look forward to hearing from you.
I know you may have solved this already, but for future reference you can actually perform the task you requested in any computer. Here is how:
1) If it is an option, you perform a function called drive cloning. It requires a specific program and some are free. But the free ones are often very confusing to new people. A good example is CloneZilla. It also requires a usb memory stick(around 16gb should be fine) and a 2nd memory device for the copy(clone) of your drive. But the the recipient drive has to be larger than all the memory in your drive you are making a copy of. Lets say your Windows drive is 100GB. You would have to use a something larger, like 128GB for example.
2) The other option is if you don't care about the contents of your old drive, you can buy a Windows installation package from a store like BestBuy. Go to such a store and tell them you want to buy a windows key with the usb stick. Its around 150-200usd retail. You get the activation key on a paper that looks like a credit card and a usb stick that will install the operating system to the new drive. If you turn off the wifi and not use a internet cable(called an ethernet cable or RJ45). You can choose at the installation process "I don't have the internet" and make whats called an Offline Account. That will bypass making a Microsoft Account and you won't get as much advertising on the OS.
Just be careful about CloneZilla. It is a fantastic bit of software, but its mostly text base and very confusing to people, even professionals. Look up tutorials or find a clone program more user friendly like Paragon.
Can you provide the link for the ssd and hdd drives which you are using?
Thanks a lot for the video
Hi, I just have one question, What is the thing with which you paste in the hdd so that it does not move?
Your video is very useful, but I have a question, hopefully you can answer it, the laptop has a HDD, now, what I'm asking here, where is the bracket sold?
can you put the ssd and hard drive and other stuff on the description? thanks!
How to put the back cover back?? The top part near the joint of the screen doesn't sit probably....
hello, where did you buy the support(brackets) to fix the hdd? I bought the hdd but it comes without support(brackets) to fix it and I can't use it. thank you (sorry for my english)
Hi! The adapter you used to install the HDD comes with the computer? Thanks!
What is the name of this equipment which one you are using to spear your laptop from which you are opening screw of laptop and where i can i get this please can you tell me 🤖
Thank you! Great thanks 👍🤝
Hi, thx for your video.
Can you tell me which model your hard drive guide? I can’t find anything to fix the 2,5 har drive.
which type of m.2 slot is this :
only sata or sata/PCIe
This is awesome 😲
I would like to know what kind of protector you use on the cover that looks shiny
hello. Is the trackpad bulging up more on the left compare to the right?
This laptop is fairly easy to mod. The only downside with laptops is. The graphics chip is on the motherboard so you can't upgrade those. However. This laptop has a lot of great reviews and from what I see. With the gtx 1650. This laptops graphics can be compared to xbox 1x and pspro. This would be a great buy for on the go gaming. Yes desktops are a lot better on performance but I can at least game on my downtime at work. Win win 🙌
My old dell studio 1737 laptop has an expandable 2.5 hdd slot. I think i will need to buy brackets as well. But what I've been looking for and havent found others to have the same situation I have. There doesnt seem to be a simple sata interface for my hdd or sata ssd to install to. There is someplace plastic component that protrudes from the mother board that looks like it would be where you would connect the interface but, it isnt. Am I suppose to be a sata connector for the mother board?
Hope that makes sense haha.
Very good video. Are those vinyl gloves?
After opening and closing it up my screen started flickering very after 20-30 of using laptop. Did I damage something because I had timing putting back the clover
can u tell me what is the alc model no. of the sound card used in this laptop
This helped a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!
How unplug the battery?
Can you please tell me where to find the battery for this laptop.
Can you share the battery performance on normal usage?
I have one of these laptops and wondered if it would support the Seagate Barracuda 4tb HDD. My model is the MSI GF63 SCSR with an intel core i5 10th gen and GTX 1060ti. I've heard lots of laptops have trouble with 4tb drives but I could really use the storage space. Would I be safer with a 2tb HDD?
How to set up the boot drive to ssd and install windows on it. Please make a video on this laptop only.
Does it come with the brackets or you buy them?
hello i tried to add a bar on my laptop with the same characteristics as the original one but when i turn on the pc my screen is black

Does every MSI laptop need the bracket for the HDD and if so Can I buy the bracket from somewhere?
